I know that it's been years since he's been gone, I can't think of anyone else as talented and loved as much as John.
He always questioned his talent and sadly suffered from depression like so many incredible artists do. I grew up listening to his music while my brothers and sisters were into heave metal music and I was teased for it. Whenever I'm anxious or down I turn to John Denver to cheer me up. My kids knew 'Grandma's feather bed' off by heart. God I miss him!

Always enjoyed John's music, and even had a little fun with this song when I was volunteering with a student-run college radio station back in the day. A female friend had the final show of the night, so as she was reading the station's usual signoff script after midnight, a couple of us played, "And it's goodbye again, I'm sorry to be leaving you ..." softly in the background.

Not many songs get to me, but this one chokes me up.😧

I was an itinerant consultant for a couple decades and this song always played in my head when "I had to go." I miss John and wish i could have shared his wonderful concerts with my wife. Funny that my daughter and I sang his words back at him on his last tour. There's not been anyone like him since.

I listened to this song religiously after I lost my beloved cinnamon, ironically I lost her 5 months before my firstborn child was born sleeping. Such a beautiful song, but so very many sad memories. I wonder how many people have lived this one. I traveled for two decades and every week I felt these words. Every time I performed some computer magic, I thought of this song. It's definitely something that's inside of me. I loved work. Hated the travel. Hated being alone. Loved making people happy as I performed some feat they were told was impossible. I know the compulsion to stand in front of a small crowd and amaze them or sit with just one person and do something clever that hadn't been done before. Thanks, John. i think it was 1970 when a blonde headed guitar player on stage at a dive in Georgetown said he would play a tune he wrote but would appreciate if people played it on the jukebox when he was gone since he said he was still trying to make it. His wide smile and self effacing glasses seemed to burst with enthusiasm and his song was long on feeling and rousing to a hick like me. E5 he said. The song was Country Roads and he sang hell out of it. i thought, this guy is going places. i went back to Virginia.

If you're talking Georgetown, Co. that wasn't the Crazy Horse Saloon by chance?? Lived in Fire Hose Motel/Hotel (??) for several months while on job at Climax Mine in early 70's. Met some great people in winter of '74 and had one of the greatest times in my life. Still think of sweet Lillian to this day.

my high school girlfriend introduced me to Johns music in 1977. He was already a mega star, but I really didn't follow his music. The first song I remember listening to was sunshine on my shoulders and I was hooked. I listen to his music everyday since.

i was awakened to his music in 75 and was the same song as you. I have seen him twice in concert. I wish he was still here. I love his music and it has shaped my life. I miss him a lot. His voice never grows old.

My Friend Dan Harju, was just buried yesterday. When we were young, we would sing a lot of John's songs while sitting around the fire.John Denver was a big part of my life growing up and a huge influence in my music and my writing. Listening to these songs brings back memories of Dan and I trying to sound like John. Good Bye, My Friend, until we meet again........
