Delta Rae - Hands Dirty Lyrics

I could raise the crap from the earth
I could raise my children from birth
But when I'm looking for work
They say that job ain't for her
I could be a good man's wife
I could give a new child life
But when I fight for my rights
They say no woman, no cry

But I ain't giving up
I can't count on love

I get my hands dirty
I show up so early
They show me no mercy
So I just keep working
Maybe God could save me
Or my boss might pay me
Right now no one serves me
Maybe their hands are dirty, dirty, dirty?

I could lead impossible missions
Occupy the highest position
But when I ask them to listen
They disregard my opinion
Well, I ain't askin' no more
I will command the floor
I'm breaking every glass ceiling
I'm building skyscraping buildings

And when that next storm comes
I'll do what I always done

I get my hands dirty
I show up so early
They show me no mercy
So I just keep working
Maybe God could save me
Or my boss might pay me
Am I so unworthy?
Or are their hands just dirty, dirty, dirty?

And I have seen the other side of the mountain
Where every queen will be afforded her throne
And I will stand beside my sisters
And all persistent resisters
They'll say I knew it would come true
And I'll say "darling, me too"

I get my hands dirty
I show up so early
They show me no mercy
So I just keep working
Maybe God could save me
Or my boss might pay me
Right now no one serves me
Maybe their hands are dirty?

I get my hands dirty
I show up so early
They show me no mercy
So I just keep working
Maybe God could save me
Or my boss might pay me
Am I so unworthy?
Or are their hands just dirty, dirty, dirty?

  28. A.... N....

Well I searched this "get my hands dirty"... I watched the video and I ain't a fan of feminism but I will bleed for true equality.

This song is powerful for working women but it also has a 50 shades beat lol... I approve and I will share

Feminism is about equality. Get educated.

This doesn’t make sense if this day and age. This would have been better to come out in the 60s, maybe.

  35. S.... S....

Idk why but this reminds me of how everyone cheats off each other at my school and very few "get their hands dirty" to do it and if we do our work it is taken away and claimed as someone else's. I'm so done RN lmao.

  36. E.... W....

How does this video have so few views, it's amazing

  40. I.... ....

Ol' Brittany's looks are rapidly fading, so of course she now turns to hamfisted leftist politics in an attempt to keep attention on her.

    I.... ....

    Ian What an ignorant statement

  41. M.... H....

    'Bout time

  52. G.... P....

Amazing song, powerful video. Delta Rae is such a creative band!

  53. a.... ....

I work as a DJ at a club and was looking for a *new Rock tune for one of the dancers - this is just perfect :)
    ps: great song

  54. J.... ....

It's hard to feel like your vote matters in a state that lights up like red like rudolphs nose, but still voting anyways. #GreenParty #MountainParty #EveryoneRegister

    J.... ....

JustANormalFreak I know how you feel. I’m an Independent Progressive in a deepest red state outside of the South (Indiana) so my vote doesn’t seem to make much of an impact.

  55. N.... ....

I don't follow. For the real world the patriarchy doesn't exist. Racism does. Who's the top in this clusterfuck?

  56. N.... E....

    Love it!

  57. E.... F....

How do you like a video more than once?

  58. W.... S....

Honestly, I have no words for how great this song is. Knew this was my favorite band for a reason!

  59. w.... ....

    OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  60. b.... ....

Wow love this wish you all were rocking in the video though

  61. M.... p....

This song is promoting every type of lie that feminists are spreading. All of the issues they talk about in this song are made up just to demonize men.

    Come on, fight me.

    M.... p....

@Kirsten Toth When you go on places such as r/feminism, you would assume that you find all kinds of feminist posts, but all there is are radical feminist posts. Therefore, wouldn't it make sense to define what feminism is by the people who actually work for it?

    M.... p....

@My penis is unbelievably small, but Reddit is not reflective of society as a whole. It's not radical feminism to fight for equal pay. It's not radical feminism to fight for a society which is less accepting of sexual assault. I work for feminism, I define my own feminism. If you insist on only seeing the extremists, you will never see the good work. And that's on your shoulders.

    M.... p....

@Kirsten Toth alright, maybe reddit isn't the best example. How about this video? How about the news? They support my claim aswell. Also, sexual assault has, because of your movements constant crying, become a crime that is morally less acceptable than theft. Like, actual robbery. Unless, of course, it's against a man which y'all approve, advocate, and encourage. Also, you must be really dumb to still believe in the wage gap. It has been debunked multiple times. The reason why women get paid less on average, is because they A: Are biologically less suitable for alot of jobs,
B: Are less likely to ask for raises or go to work while sick or work overtime,
C: Are vastly less likely to aim for a high-pay career they maybe can't get.

If women were equally hard working people who have to be paid less, companies would only hire women, which would turn the wage gap to an advantage for women.

The pay gap is not really a pay gap, it's an earnings gap. If you really are petty enough to disagree with all of this without providing any proof against it, maybe you should avoid getting in arguments.

Ps. There actually is a reason why women get hires slightly less, but that is caused by women, and women alone. It's because of all the false rape accusations. It's very easy for a woman to get rid of a male coworker she doesn't like. Some companies don't want this to happen to their workers, so they avoid hiring women as much. However, this is rare because acknowledging that false rape accusations are a serious problem is a threat to feminism itself, and not alot of people want to mingle with an enemy that strong.

    M.... p....

@My penis is unbelievably small, but I'm sorry but I checked out after you implied that robbery should be viewed as more reprehensible than sexual assault. That tells me what I need to know. I'll keep doing my thing, and I guess you can keep on doing yours, but the fact that you value physical property over a human's bodily safety and mental health... not gonna chat with you anymore.

    M.... p....

@Kirsten Toth did i not just imply the opposite? Aaand mental health isn't really threatened with, say, an all male movie cast etc.
If you were talking about straight up rape, then i agree with you.

  62. A.... R....

    Love this!!

  63. M.... F....

    Incredible song and video. Bravo!

  64. C.... M....

This really moved me. I always appreciate your craft.

  65. w.... ....

    This is amazing!!

  66. k.... ....

Please be sure to vote! The people driven by fear and hatred will certainly vote, and if you don't vote you're giving them the right to govern your life.

  67. J.... S....

This is so beautiful! Playing on repeat. ❤️

  68. a.... ....

A beautiful song!! My friend ivypole made me aware of it. A powerful message!! ♥

  69. M.... M....

Everything, from the music to the meaning is powerful!!! 💖

  70. A.... G....

    Thank you ♥️

  71. N.... J....

This band is amazing, and this just- god, this is so beautiful and strong and necessary. Thank you thank you thank you. I remember your song for marriage equality too, and I just adore that you guys aren't afraid to make statements, but the music is so good on its own too. Just amazing. I love you guys, thank you!

  72. K.... H....

DELTA RAE WROTE US AN ANTHEM Y'ALL.

  73. D.... B....

Chelsea Mason spoke my words. Please see her comment below and many others. As a woman in her 70’s who has been raped multiple times, first as an innocent 14 year old girl, I say we need more like you.

    D.... B....

Finally someone who understands what rape really means. It's forcibly having sex, not stuff like slapping a woman

  74. B.... ....

I haven't followed Country music in decades...since I had to pull my car over, because a song had me crying too hard to drive.

So, I had never heard of Delta Rae, until I read an article about this song. I will definitely be paying attention to Delta Rae now.

I know how a Country artist can be entrenched in politics, whether they want to be or not. I remember what happened to The Dixie Chicks when they went political.

Equality for women shouldn't be a partisan issue. Everyone should want people to be treated the same, no more, no less. Wanting our daughters to live in a world where their voice matters shouldn't make us liberal. Sadly, that doesn't appear to be the case.

Thank you Delta Rae. Thank you for standing with ALL women, regardless of who may be offended. That's on them. We are only accountable for ourselves. I appreciate your courage in using your platform to hopefully facilitate change.

    B.... ....

Can you link me the article? I would definitely like to see someone actually talking about the ridiculous issues this song talks about.

    B.... ....

I would never call Delta Rae a country band. More of a Southern Gothic Fleetwood Mac. Definitely check out their other material.

    B.... ....

Delta Rae are never a country band. They are classified as southern gothic music, very far from Country origins since they used gospel, blues and folk

    B.... ....

@Lilouytou P. True but I can hear a country sound in them though.

  75. B.... F....

The main theme of this video is Vote (as portrayed in the final scene) to solve the problem. How does voting solve sexual violence against women?

    B.... F....

kwanshiyin Ah, the current administration is not perfect but it is the BEST I’ve seen since Reagan. You don’t care how miserable the last creatures were. You just want these guys and ladies out. You must love Venezuela because that is what you and the rest of the Left would like to achieve. That has nothing to do with the cause of violence against women and men. It will serve only to destroy you. The people you want to vote in will come for you when they are ready. Or do you even want to vote? Maybe just straight revolution is your cause? THAT is fascinating.

    B.... F....

@Bob Ferguson do you deny that the current GOP attitudes toward women are problematic? If you do, then this conversation is a lost cause.

    B.... F....

It's true that I think the current administration is the worst ever and I want them out, yes. They're doing incredible harm to this country--and to you unless you're in the 1%--in ways you either can't or won't see. Violence against women and men is part of it, and the fact that you say this has nothing to do with it is astonishing. I care deeply for this country and I have voted in every election, local, State, or Federal since I came of age. I do believe in the power of the vote. I also believe that every person deserves the same rights and privileges that have for far too long belonged only to white men. From your last comment, it would seem that you are only interested in lashing out and raging rather than actual discussion, and I see no need to engage further.

    B.... F....

kwanshiyin thank you for your concern.

  76. T.... 1....

Great song but can someone please tell me how they are still being sold as “country”? This is no where even close to country.

  77. B.... ....

    incredible. choked me up good

  78. v.... ....

First heard this at your show in Arlington, TX. You blew us all away! I have been eagerly awaiting this release. LOVE IT! Y'all write the BEST anthems. Goosebumps. Thank you for getting your hands dirty, for putting up with the ignorant comments and hateful replies. THank you for sticking to your messages of support and love and equality. We need your voices more than ever.

  79. O.... ....

Usually love your stuff. This song, NO! SJW BS about the #MeToo movement. Sick & tired of all this crap being shoved down our throats. Voting for sure in November but RED ALL THE WAY DOWN THE TICKET!

    O.... ....

Delta Rae's pulse has always been equal rights so you're either not listening to them or your hands are dirty. You never had to leave this comment btw. Live and let live.

    O.... ....

In 2012, they posted this: Delta Rae - Chain On Love (A Song For Marriage Equality) https://youtu.be/qnd9yIWsfRA

    O.... ....

I feel like Delta Rae's identity is enmeshed with their activism. Also, preventing sexual violence shouldn't be a partisan issue.

  80. C.... H....

In tears, thank you for always being there

  81. r.... ....

    damn girl!!! yes!

  82. J.... D....

sobbing my eyes out at work so thanks for that (no, but truly - thank you.)

  83. p.... ....

Just get something for your period love

    p.... ....

ProfStraightEdge - What a great comment!

    p.... ....

prince abod - Are you one of those Russian spies I’ve been reading about, paid to cause trouble or just an all American asshole?

    p.... ....

So let's go ahead convict them all with rape cause they wont covinct a guy they have zero evidence on so they are dirty and rapists that's insane get your evidence then we will talk you can't believe anyone just because she or he said so

    p.... ....

What the fuck happened to innocent till proven guilty?!

    p.... ....

Whatever point you wanted to make got lost in the verbiage.

  84. E.... J....

Love the song! FYI, the link in your bio is wrong (extra r in Delta!!)

    E.... J....

    thank you! fixed.

  85. C.... M....

🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 yaaaasss queens! I love your band so much. Thank you to each of you for being an ally to the LGBTQ community, to all religious backgrounds, all walks of life, and fighting for equal rights for everyone. You are all beautiful people with the best hearts and kind souls!

    C.... M....

Let's make this clear for ya. Despite what they say they do, feminists only care about womens rights. They don't fight for equal rights for everyone, equality only goes as far as it benefits women.

    C.... M....

Oh gosh I don't want a comment war... but you're thinking of the (loud) minority. Most feminists really do want equality for everyone- including men. Including kids. Including anybody who is at risk of being slighted or taken advantage of- and anyone who is not. Everyone deserves to feel safe. Sex should not define what benefits a person receives. That's real feminism. Not sexism like the "feminazis" encourage. I really don't want a war- this is just what I've observed through personal experience:)

    C.... M....

@Ella Morring don't the people who speak up and work for what the movement does define what the movement is about? Feminism has turned to an entirely different movement than what it used to be. If you are a feminist and care about ALL peoples rights, then you should stop calling yourself a feminist. All i'm saying is, you are following the WRONG movement.

    C.... M....

I understand what you're saying- I'm just hoping that someday we will be able to get back to the original meaning. If you look up the definition of feminism, it means equality for all sexes- and while "feminism" was probably a bad word to choose for it, that's the word we have. I guess I agree with the definition of the term and not the movement:)

  86. R.... A....

Such an anthem! Love from Brazil <3

  87. q.... ....

Fucking YES. Stellar job on this one, DR. ❤️❤️❤️💪💪💪

  88. T.... ....

    Hell. Yes.

  89. S.... A....

Playing on repeat all day for sure. #PersistentResister

  90. O.... D....

This is so powerful!! The pause after the Me Too line ( which was my favorite btw) gave me chills! What an amazing, well-done video. You guys have really outdone yourselves! I will definitely be playing this on loop

  91. k.... ....

Why is Lizs voice not on this version? She is all over the live version of this song but shes pretty absent here? Also- The live version of this song is way more ferocious and more driving than this more subdued studio version.

    k.... ....

Liz is all over this track, same parts she sings live and she's almost as loud as the lead in the mix. but if you like it better live, we get it, hope you'll come see a bunch of shows to hear it <3

  92. N.... T....

This was amazing! Well written and needed right now for sure. Everybody GO VOTE!

  93. t.... c....

    I love it!

  94. M.... P....

    Beautiful!
