Apart from being great music, it's a stress release. Everything i listen to (no matter genre) can save a bad day or bad week, but to blast my ears for some hours with some good death metal can make me forget about the person I hated earlier in the day and make me realize that it's not even worth getting angry at in the end.

Satanic themes have nothing to do with the genre. It's just a typical stereotype that Black metal sings about Satanism all the time. If you listen to early Behemoth (Grom for example) it's proper raw Black metal, like Burzum, Behexen, Beherit and Mayhem etc. It's that style of playing molded with the Death metal style that makes it Blackened Death metal. Not the fact he sings about Satan or satanism.

Blasphemy (Canada) played black/death metal while everyone from Behemoth were still shitting their diapers, so were Antichrist (Canada), Bestial Warlust, Sarcófago, Archgoat, etc...

I bought up every cassette pretty much from that era that I could find in new/2nd hand stores from "Atheist" to "Znow White". Still have the original Mercyful Fate - Melissa before they remastered the song "Melissa" and I still love the old version better. Was into Pestilence and ASPHYX and others like Carcass and Cannibal Corpse, lots of shock value, then Deicide-Deicide came along and blew my fucken mind.

"Goatlord" doesn't ring a bell. Sounds like something from the VENOM Era lol. I bought so many cassettes it was impossible to listen to them all repeatedly and always something new or different coming into my collection. Hard to remember the names of so many bands.
