Defeater No Man Born Evil Comments
Did anyone figure out the story of this record? Like some other said, I'm confused who killed whom etc. Only thing I understood the first 3 songs are about Father and the brother he lost. But others are a mistery to me.
Asmunar Bektenov after reading a lot on reddit, the popular theory is that this album is about the brother of the father from Letters Home. Everyone thinks he dies when his ship gets attacked but he’s survives and has survivor’s guilt so he decides to “disappear” instead of return to his family.
I looked up "Man is born evil" after remembering Thomas Hobbes then this came up. I have no regrets.
the performance and production of vocals are creative and insanely good. They do these albums as characters in a story, this one the vocalist becomes the character (kind of funny they self title album Defeater)

I don't mind the buried vocals when I turn it up loud. Just sounds bad quiet. But honestly, who listens to this quietly?

Fuck what people say, this album fucking rips. Gave me some of my favorite songs from Defeater. This is one of them. Also loving Jeffrey Eaton's vocals in this.

I hate to say it but im pretty disappointed with this album.
same sorta. theres some good moments but for the most part all the songs sound the same and the lyrics are too low. not really sure how it ties into the story either, though i think ive been listening to the songs in the wrong order idk
@Robert Walsh yea i also noticed the vocals seemed like they were constantly being drowned out by everything else. It made it hard to hear what he was saying.
@Robert Walsh yea im not getting the narrative too tbh. the lyrics are too poignant and complicated, i have no idea who killed who, for what and what happened after. about the album, i think it has a few good moments (kickass drumming, some riffing, dual vocals on 3rd song, especially), but still this type of slow-pace hxc sound bores me and the vocals are mixed so weirdly
Sucks I’m really digging this album. Think it’s up there at least 3rd or 4th best
The more I listen the more I am enjoying it (even with low vocals). Not sure what to make of the story of it all yet.
