This album sounded modern in the 80ies and still does today. I like the songs, but I've never been a fan of these late eighties computerized electro-pop productions. Another example would be the Turbo album by Judas Priest. Back in the day they thought that, if they wanted to reach the masses, hard rock had to sound poppy ... and they were right, haha !

When this album came out I stole my older brothers copy of it. I wore it out it wouldn't even play anymore. Bought my second one wore it out riding around in my 79 camaro z28

Proving exactly why HYSTERIA holds court still, 30 years down the line. It was festooned with fire & magic. Not an easy trick to accomplish by any means.

To be honest when these guys came out they were considered teeny bopper music so I didn't take them seriously until I noticed that the girls loved them . Then I bought pyromania and learned photograph and foolin on guitar and the girls were all over me. lmao.
Looking back these were great songs and I didn't appreciate them when they first came out.

I had a totally different experience. Literally nobody snubbed these guys, they were iconic and revered and one of the few bands almost all of my friends liked. Guess we grew up in different times.

Love this tune, it's like all their good songs and earlier songs wrapped up in one tune, it has that feel good sound and Steve Clark and Rick Savage's guitar riffs from High n Dry and Pyromania in it, too. Sounds more like 1981-82 style, than 1987. Awesome.

Now what's wrong with "Excitable?" It's just as good as the rest of the album. I haven't heard another album (with the exception of the first Boston album) as perfect as this one is where every song could have been a hit.

I was only 10 when this album came out so I may be young but I still think it rocks!

The riff for the verse is cut from the Joe Perry mold. This Rock n Roll style of music and of dress is what Steve Clarke brought to the band. When Steve Clarke died the band lost major cool points.

Oh yeah, Steve Clarke also had an ear for melody too (see Armageddon It).
He was the most talented member of this band by far.

When I lived in Richmond KY these guys came on tour right down I-75 and my sister and I saw them at old Riverfront Stadium in Cincy, then in Lexington KY, and then again in Knoxville during their 'In The Round' series!
