Deep Purple - What's Goin' On Here Lyrics

Roll me over slowly, I've been drinkin' all night,
help me make a move, I can't stand the light.
Wake me, shake me, don't slam the door.
I ain't been so bad, I just can't recall.
Spent the night chasin' up a listed old flame,
lyin' on the floor I can't remember her name.
I can't stay here, there's something wrong here.
What's goin onhere?

Went downtown, had a long way to go.
How I got there, well, I don't know.
Found myself sittin' in a west side bar,
tried to leave but I could not go far.
High class woman try'n to give me a line,
should have left early when I felt so fine.
I can't stay here, there's something wrong here.
What's goin' on here?

When they closed up the bar, you know, they left me for dead.
I can't remember a thing I said.
Must have called the police to take me away.
They said, "Forty days", now I've got to pay.
Spent the night chasin' up a listed old flame,
lyin' on the floor I can't remember my name.
I can't get together while they're messin' with me,
keep on lookin' round, tell me where can I be.
I can't stay here, there's something wrong here.
What's goin' on here?

Coverdale ha una voce da favola.

  4. P.... D....

There's just nothing like these old tracks from Coverdale and company on Burn, except the entire Machine Head album, lol. It'll never be replicated.

  5. S.... B....

Funk rock? Not my choice! But what deep purple made before is outstanding! Nothing compare! Coverdale had a good voice... with white snake, more his style.

  17. M.... H....

One of Ritchies best solos in my opinion.... among with Place In Line, Hold On (Stormbringer) Melodious and unique!!!

    M.... H....

    Martin Hiller…Ja!

    M.... H....

@Martin Hiller this one is a highlight by Blackmore s fantastic solo, but also You fool no one, Burn and A200 have each some brutal guitar solos leaving no doubt that Blackmore was way better than page

    M.... H....

@Martin Thank You! This is my fave track from this LP...I know it's "only a blues" but man the playing is unmatched. And speaking of the blues, "Place In Line" is right up there too - check out how Ritchie's great solo segues right into Lord's even GREATER solo...goosebumps! And "Hold On" is my favorite from that record, so you pretty much nailed it all! :)

  18. M.... b....

Blackmore plays it all from blues ,rock ,heavy rock/metal/classical /U know it he does it. Best guitarist ever!!!

    M.... b....

@Mark brown … Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, and Ja!

    M.... b....

    Uli Jon Roth is better!!!

  19. t.... a....

    Amo essa música...

  20. D.... F....

Geez, the best double vocals in R&Roll history PERIOD. Dont try to argue, U already lost it!!!

    D.... F....

Umm... ever heard of Lennon and McCartney?

  21. .... ....

great song! very groovy! piano solo is just mindblowing!

  22. A.... C....

British music, from the sixties, seventies and part of the eighties produced the finest rock; Specially the geniuses of the sixties, and early seventies.

  23. T.... H....

Easy Living Is Fantastic From Uriah Heep Magician Birthday Was The First Song Turn On To Awesome

  24. D.... D....

Соло на фоно офигенное, с детства тащусь...

  25. v.... f....

I love this album but the best deep purple line up was with Ian Gillian hands down

    v.... f....

@Anki Hansen a lot of ladies did and many more would have wanted to including my sister

    v.... f....

@vincent farrentino. I prefer Gillan - Glover on account of their many quality DP albums, but as you say, I love this one DP evolved with great songs that showcased the musicians skills. No fillers, a lot of talent and power. I was disappointed to hear Stormbringer bc they lacked the level of music achieved with Burn, except for that one song High Ball Shooter...

    v.... f....

they are both superb....but i love david covwerdale and the due hughes-copverdale is amazing

    v.... f....

@GreenerHill Glover's daughter is called Gillian.

    v.... f....

    Gillan was the best!

  26. D.... ....

I'm an advocate for the idea of Ritchie Blackmore as the most amazing Rock Guitar player EVER.......yes.....I said that.......more so than Hendrix or Van Halen.........but in this song, as good as Ritchie's clear, articulate, melodic and just perfect soloing is.......this one makes me realize how sorry I am Jon Lord didn't play more piano in Deep Purple music. He was AWESOME on the key boards......so much talent in this band.......I reallly can't think of a single band that had this much all in the same band. Ian Paice arguable as most amazing drummer in Rock, Ritchie, Jon and then Coverdale as a young "unknown" vocalist and an almost over-shadowed by Coverdale vocal from Glen Hughes.........this band didn't produce the hits on radio........proving that top 40 success is about catchy song writing more so than musicianship......but as a live act this band really was possibly the best I've ever heard.

  27. M.... ....

    Dmn Lord!!!

  28. D.... B....

I'm doing this album track by track and this lp really stands up there's a definite change taking place maturity I'd say

  29. I.... P....

    Love the guitar solo

  30. r.... t....

For just Richie's playing, this is my favorite Deep Purple album.

  31. f.... n....

naturalmente il mi piace per il brano, e l'album.

  32. e.... m....

    awesome piano solo

  33. A.... A....

WOW THIS SONG JUST MAKES MEWANNA HAVEA GREAT FEAST!!!

  34. a.... ....

Some stupid critic on the Burn documentary called this song a filler!  There are no fillers on Burn, you imbecile.

    a.... ....

    +anaximander24 Maybe u can call A 200 a filler m8

    a.... ....

    anaximander24 critic full of sh*t

    a.... ....

The "critic" was probably an Ian Gillan fan.......some love the Burn album while others see it and Stormbringer as a complete departure from what Deep Purple was at the height of success with Machine head.......There is no denying the influence Glen Hughes had on this band. When Gillan left .....Roger Glover got "sacked" to make room for a new Bass Player with real Vocal tallent.......but Glen Hughes was clearly more confident than a very young David Coverdale......and his "funk" Bias toward music was either something you liked as a new element in Deep Purple or you saw it as a departure from what made them the band that produced "Machine Head" and "In Rock". I like both myself......but even Ritchie Blackmore himself called out the Stormbringer record as "crap". This song is an example of a "funky" vibe on Burn......I like it......but for people who don't see Deep Purple without Ian Gillan as the REAL DEEP PURPLE.......it's probably an example of where the band lost it's way. My guess is the critic who called this song "filler".......probably only liked "Burn" and "Lay Down Stay Down" as the kind of songs that would have fit in with his idea of what Deep Purple was supposed to be.......makes me wonder what he thought of "Mistreated"......an amazing track that isn't "funky"......but also not something I can imagine Ian Gillan doing either.

    a.... ....

anaximander24 so full of sh*t he could fill up a f*cking toilet up to the seat. He's the real filler.

    a.... ....

    tell em the dreaming lol

  35. E.... C....

Glenn Hughes sure gets a lot of singing time, to his credit.

  36. J.... J....

    Great Deep Purple album!!!!!!

    A.... D....

the best one to me my friend . the best album!!

    A.... D....

For me "In Rock" !! "Machine Head" perhaps at the same category, both very good

    A.... D....

hard to pick between them isn't .  Both some of the finest moments in British hard rock

  39. v.... f....

Although No one can compare to Ian Gillian this is way cool but Purple with Gillian kicks major ass

    v.... f....

    K.... N....

    Glenn Hughes

    K.... N....

    K.... N....

Yes, they sing a few lines each on this one.

    K.... N....
