Deep Purple - Vavoom: Ted The Mechanic Lyrics
Playing pool and drinking beer
Nothin more'n the
occasional tear
But this man's life goes on
and he gets
from time to time
At the strip joint, where we met
He said 'Hi, my name is Ted
See that one over there
That ball of thunder
Every time she goes Vavoom,
I wiggle in my chair
Can I buy you a beer?
What a guy
'But I never quit when I'm ahead
Too many rules and regulations
Stupid laws designed by fools behind closed doors
And another thing I won't discuss is religion
It always causes a fight
Vavoom
There she goes again
'How does she do that' said Ted
And he told me
of those unjustices (that)
He had suffered in his life
His wife and kids
and boss and dogs
and neighbours
Raising cain and causing strife
They were forever whining
Bleating howling yapping screeching moaning crying
Vavoom
He fed them well
He keep them warm
Thing about Ted
he didn't really care
Nothing much got in his hair
and the beauty of it was
that he was right
He was big as a truck
and fast as a door
(what's that?)
he was always right
The banjo player took a hike
What's that song
I used to like
Vavoom
He was big as a truck
Fast as a door - Ted
Ted the man our Ted

Deep Purple Vavoom: Ted The Mechanic Comments
Purplendicular..hahaha
I remember buying this CD in 1996 when I was a sophomore in high school and jamming to it. Now I look back and I'm the exact age now my mom was then. Holy shit
Steve Morse, brother, you can rock man!
November 2019 who’s with me?
Vavoom baby
It's quite simple...: best DP album with Morse? Purpendicular...best Morse studio solo with Purple? Ted and Cascades...
Steve is amazing
Brilliant and is even better while listening on magic mooshrooms
Great but the main riff is stollen from "Dr Feelgood" (Motley Crue 89).
its the blues shuffle rhythm..it wasn't invented by Crue...
Ian Gillan forever
One of the worst ever DP hits
Purplendicular :3
Steve Morse is showing off on this one!
Steve Morse always has monster tones, God dam
Ritchie Who?
Sorry guys, but I need this album like the water that I drink to live. I have ordered it from the record shop in Valletta, wich been 3 mouths already. Hope I get it soon! Wish me luck guys. Thank, from Vincent la Valletta malta.
spectacular song
Sounds an aweful lot like Rat Bat Blue...
Perfectionists at their best.
Their best song with Steve Morse on guitar. Great lyrics too . Just listen to these words of wisdom: "Too many rules and regulations decided by fools behind closed doors ". Ted the mechanic knows where it's at !
NOT the Deep Purple I grew up with.....these later/last LP's show they stuck at it TOO long. This song has NO melody and is one big MESS.
i had heard this was good, sure enough..i seen them in concert in 1997, not bad and crowded,but..no one can come close to ritchie,an steve is a great guy an one of the best also, for even heavier stuff..........just a little bit,...by....blue cheer from late 1960,s o yeah.........

Thank you for sharing the lyrics!
I don’t know why but this song’s rythm reminds me of the movie jaws (one of my fav songs actually)
Am i listening Deep Purple or Deep Morse band =)))))) ?
Great Steve Morse!
great song of great album!
Steve Morse with the greatest solo of all-time.
This Album is pure perfection! Steve Morse is really a great successor of Ritchie
Ian Gillan "The Voice" of rock music, legend, the rest of the band are pretty good too 🙂
one of their best albums 👍👍👍
abo hadi alsaadi yes indeed! this 1 and Burn
and Ritchie was playing lute by this time
maybe he be in Stranger in Us All rinbow tour. Lute its 1997 year
I'm not seeing it mentioned here, this is their 1st album w/ guitarist Steve Morse from the Dixie Dreggs, .. no RB on this '96 album -
The place to start and "infinite" is the place to wind up. Take your pick in-between, but you have to know where things start and end to get some things. Especially those who don't want to get anything without their Blackmore.
Not too crazy about 'Infinite" Larry. Love "Purpendicular" though. Cheers!
Steve Morse made Purple a happy band. I love Blackmore's playing but, man, he was hard to get along with!
Red Hot Deep Purple :D
Kuba Jasiński 😂😂😎😎
(͠≖ ͜ʖ͠≖)
The real rock!!!
Great!!!!
ASS KICKING ....blue collar .....
This song sucks.....
You're an ignorant twit.
@Jim Brewster exactly. Coverdale is absutely voiceless dude. Just about anyone would perform better than that constipated shit.
@Anki Hansen got no likes ? Everybody knows that Coverdale is a worst vocal in entire industry. He sounds like a constipated whore on a toilet. Could never pushed that shit out no matter how hard he tried on those pathetic shows.

So does your mamma
PRECAPTURE MK CIA CAN STAY
Deep Purple-Purpendicular
He told me of those injustices that he had suffered in his life, his wife & kids & boss & dogs & neighbors raising cain & causing strife...
@bearmassaro love it
Good track!!!1Good album!!!!
Deep Purple Kickass since more to 40 years!!!!!!!
Malcolm Reynolds now fifty years and still ;)
Deep Purple would have been up there with Led Zeppelin if their lead vocals weren't so incredibly cheesy. Oh well...
Deep Purple is above Led Zeppelin. Fuck off.
John Evans *deep breath* BOI
Gillan voice and manner to perform are actually got lot better . Listen to infinite and tell me if they ever had better album. I own all of their albums but listen only to infinite when I want DP. Haters are full of shit. I guarantee they all come from that small whitesnake voiceless shit cult.
As many have said, you are expressing an opinion. Everyone has different taste. Forget the pettiness and accept the fact that some like chocolate and others like vanilla.
@Anki Hansen there is no objective measurement by which you could make that claim
Deep Purple would have been up there with Led Zeppelin if their lead vocals weren't so incredibly cheesy. Oh well...
Gillan's voice has changed, he has lost high notes a lot. This is a fact. But it's not necessarily a bad fact.
He lost his high notes but, for example, he has got a better sense of rhythm.
So I like his voice at his older days too!
Haha, you do realise that Gillan is referred to as "the Voice" of hard rock & heavy metal ?
Do you prefer Coverdale John. You have the guts to come on here and state the unpopular, fair play to you
And it comes out the more shit you talk, it's obvious you're just playing up to Blackmore's washed up ass. You just aren't admitting it. Nothing to do with DP vocals.
@John Evans which vocalist are you speaking of? Gillan is great. I even still like their early stuff with Rod Evans. Did not care for Coverdale and Hughes. Gillan is THE VOICE of DP!
very very nice album, I like it very much.
