Deep Purple - Lay Down, Stay Down Lyrics
I don't care if my lady's gone
as long as you give me just what I want.
I've been losin' my direction,
got to find a new connection.
now I'm really gettin' hungry more and more.
Been a long time, had a bad sign.
Tell me what am I fighting for?
Let me know you feel it,
you know I really need it.
Keep on pushin' for more,
lay down, stay down.
I got something to find,
there's one thing I really need.
lay down, stay down.
Lookin' for trouble, I guess that's right.
When I was young I was taught to fight.
It's been long gone since I had known,
now I'm headin' for some more.
Let me know you feel it,
you know I really need it.
Keep on pushin' for more,
Lay down, stay down.
I got something to find,
there's one thing I really need.
I'm gonna tell you right now,
lay down, stay down.
Let me know you feel it,
you know I really need it.
Keep on pushin' for more,
lay down, stay down.
I got something to find,
there's one thing I really need.
I'm gonna tell you right now,
lay down, stay down.

DER DRUMMER IST WELTKLASSE ! C.
Almost has an AC/DC vibe to it.
Classic rock 'n' roller from a classic album. It also rocked live (California Jam dvd).
This solo is amazing. Overall this song should have a lot more views, oh well those who appreciate it appreciate it
OMG...this is really ROCK AND ROLL without any deviation....PURE HOLY ROCK!!!
Ian Paice,he is more than a human being!!!!!!!!!
I can understand why dp fans did not like mk 3. sorry! This isn‘t coverdale style! He doesn‘t fit! He just plays dp music!
Ian Paice is a monster , a friggin' gifted monster!!....this was/is one killer album!..
Ian paice !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Glenn Hughes———MONSTER
Che gruppo fantastico
Seen them on this tour in Dallas, Tx. Great show by them as usual!
#wannafuckmeovergottakissmefirst😘
The drumming!!!! Holy ssssshhhheeeeeeeeeeeeettt!!
Even though this is post Ian Gillan, the cover art/album design/album tunes is top drawer Deep Purple. Storm bringer then and after is a slow decline. Richie Blackmore is what puts this album over, and dont you forget it! Bob, 64, at Classic Rock Central. P.S.. Blackmore's Rainbow album ''Man on the silver mountain' puts Rithie Ritchie squarely back in top form in '76, lest you forget.
Absolutely blistering solo from Ritchie!
the guitar riff is "borrowed" from mountain 'blood of the sun'.
Whoa!! Now that you say....could be!!
Who came first?
@jp codnia mountain-first album 1969
@jp codnia ,
isn't it obvious?i wrote that the guitar riff is "borrowed" from mountain 'blood of the sun'
not the other way round, 'blood of the sun' was recorded in 1969, 'lay down, stay down'
was recorded in 1973.
Jon's piano intro is just awesome! very neat!
Ian Paice Numero Uno
Ian Paice dá show
G.H. still killing D.C....
probably best purple album ever
I love seeing all the love for Paicey!! The dude is brilliant!!
Glenn, Glenn, Glenn! 😍
Damn Glenn Hughes
Márcio Portela he was incredible! 😍
Heavy rockn roll
this is fuckin beautiful
Gillan and Glover could have handled this song too. It feels like a MK 2 number.
Glenn Hughes and David Coverdale ... What a fantastic combination !!!
ohhh yes
Best Deep Purple album
Lay down say down
C'mon man, how many drummers can play a drum solo over a verse.
Ian Paice is truly a legend of legends.
I hear that my friend Ian Paice is the best!!!
I think he is
this explains exactly that !
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDTXKVFJj8A
Ian Paice is Buddy Rich's son for sure.
@Dach \m/ Metal Smash Montages boring...
awesome drumming, heard it loads of times, just realised!
There’s one thing I really need- I’m gonna tell you right now. DEEP PURPLE!!!!!!!
El mejor solo de ritchie!!!!!!!!!
Two words: Ian Paice.
You can hear Highball Shooter in Blackmore's solo
You can hear hbs main riff influenced by this song
Very nice sound Deep Purple I like Favorite+++
Deep Purple. Unohda en koskaan hienoja aikoja...
I got married when this came out who ever she was loved it then live it now
Mountain - Blood of the sun, almost identical riff
Black ores touch is sensational
thats great song i think greatest lp is burn
Deep Rock .
That's a fucking rock song right there. God damn.
This next one's a rude song. Sniiiiiifffffffff.
trish john a funky rock n’ roller.
David Coverdale and Glenn Hughes.....what a powerful duo !
Amei cara <3
Where are the "more cowbell" assholes ?? LOL!!
They are sucking a big cowbell cock....
Impecable el solo de blackmore que pedazo de bestia
Putaso bestia !
Still sounds amazing. And I love John Lord but the smartest thing about this track is not over-extending it by giving him a solo too.
Ian Paice!
Real Rock n Roll. Killer hook, great rhythm section, awesome solo w/ great piano parts underneath it.
People simply do not know how to do it anymore. So I have to go back to 1974 to listen to music that makes my blood boils.
I know.
flor de solo de guitarra impecable...
Proctology exam? Someone eager for?
The song is great, and the horny suckers should go around the net, here is more about like...music.
Killer Romp
So Leslie west influenced a lot of guitar players at that time, including Ritchie Blackmore who definitely was inspired for the main riff in this song, from Mountain's Blood of the sun
And Leslie was inspired by Cream ...
And Cream, or Eric Clapton, got inspiration from the old Blues players.
Clive Bindley and thus on down the line.
Killer drum patterns
¡¡¡¡¡¡woooooooooooooow!!!!!!!!!
what a solo !. (again).
Check Ritchie's background licks behind the verses. GROUSE! (Y) :D
One dislike, come on...
Anyway, great song!
Stratocaster-powered rock.
Clench your jaw and twist your head.
@Exiles800 Yeah, and dig Paicey playing every drum fill known to man in under 4 minutes and 20 seconds.
...yes, a Strat is the cat, in one mans awsome hands, witness exibit A-Ritchie Blackmore.
Ian Paice on the drums...YES! Great tune!
@strangeman509 Nothin' beats a classic. What was Coverdale thinkin' to try to remake his new rendition more awesome than this?
jimmiemclovin - He was probably just having fun and trying to remind people of his Purple chapter and turn some younger people on to it. I’m sure he didn’t set out to top the originals and that even trying would be silly.
that's right
The whole band is awesome i been DP fan since 1970 but in this song and any DP song Ian paice is the driving beat behind DP Ian is the only drummer DP has ever had and rightfully so he is one of the best rock drummers of all time and the drumming in this song is off the hook. The RnR Hall of Fame don"t know what they are missing ROCK ON DP!!!!!!!!!!!
τρελάθηκαν τα ντράμια λέμε!
This tune makes me wonder how Bon Scott would've sounded with DP. Mythical & epic, is my guess.
0 dislikes :)
now there are six bieber fans
Great tune!!!!!
one of Blackmore's best solos
every Blackmore' s solo is the best
I was just gonna type those exact words
Curiously this song share the same starting riff as Blood of the Sun by Mountain, except for the ending of that same riff!
MrUrgando also similar to Nobody’s Home from Perfect Strangers.

So happy to see that I'm not the only person who discovered this song through the AS Music Technology exam.
