Deep Purple - Fire In The Basement Lyrics

I came 'round to your front door, your back door was locked
Pushed your button, rang your bell, you didn't hear me knock
I saw your window open wide, so I crawled inside
I ran to the top floor, but you were on the ground
I was on my way up and you were going down

Fire in the basement
Burn me up, scream and shout
There's fire in the basement
Only you can put it out

This strange sensation that I'm going through
Sweet infatuation when I get next to you
I know what it takes to be a man, you understand
'Cause when the sparks start flying you'll never be the same
You know I'll hate to leave you girl but I'm so glad I came

Fire in the basement
Burn me up, scream and shout
Fire in the basement
Only you can put it out

Smoky eyes burning bright
Innocence lost, satisfy my appetite
Surrender to the flame, what's your name
Let's get down to business, how can you refuse
Give this boy a helping hand, come on light my fuse

Deep Purple Fire In The Basement Comments
  1. N.... D....

This goes back to the funk southern style that Ritchie wanted to get away from after Stormbringer ..He defiantly got back into it and Joe is a damn good vocalist for this style.

  2. L.... N....

    shit - there too ;)

  3. D.... L....

a killer song an ritchies guitar is untouchable as allways, what a tone an solo wow

    D.... L....

Ritchie is a world class ax man. Guy can slash

  4. M.... ....

I have to agree with the most people here who call that album a real decent good one!

  5. V.... P....

    Joe lynn turner 👉 🎤 Weak👎

  6. J.... S....

I know everybody loves to hate on slaves and Masters and Joe Lynn Turner. I just have to admit this is a very good song and the album itself is very well done. Yes it sounds more rainbowish than deep purplish but it's still a great album. I don't think Ian paice John Lord and Ritchie Blackmore capable of producing a Bad album.

  7. D.... B....

    😉👍❤🇺🇸🇬🇧

  8. M.... ....

This mrk. had 3 persons in the rainbow band from the early 80's, so maybe it's Deep Rainbow.
I think it's a great album, but not all that Deep Purple sound, even though it is riff oriented.

    M.... ....

MBJ861 I know what you mean now I just don’t count Joe Lynn Turner has a true member

    M.... ....

@Pony Trekker I agree. But still a good album slaves and masters, but maybe it should have been a project thing instead of Deep Purple. Ian Gillan is the man.

    M.... ....

MBJ861 Very good album and you’re right it should’ve been a different project then being associated to the deep purple name. And absolutely gillan is the man.

    M.... ....

    @Pony Trekker But He Was..Like Tommy Bolin !!!! ;-)

    M.... ....

@Pony Trekker WHY ??? Tommy Bolin Could Be The Same..NOT a TRUE Member...

  9. F.... ....

    roger glover!

  15. c.... ....

The only one song to save from the best album of Rainbow made by Deep Purple.....

    c.... ....

Disagree..You Can Do It Right On Stormbringer Can Be Played By KC & The Sunshine Band...NEXT PLEASE !!!

  16. e.... ....

Es el sonido verdadero de Deep Purple, excelente....

  17. a.... ....

Wow! I've been wanting to hear this song since it came out and they played it on the radio one time. I had no idea it was Deep Purple( or Rainbow)!

    a.... ....

Well, Glover and Blackmore were in Purple before Rainbow, so only Turner is the only pure Rainbow member

    a.... ....

Its a shame really that this lineup got so much grief about the Rainbow connection. Nobody had similar objections when Coverdale, Lord & Paice were all in Whitesnake together. I've always found that strange.

    a.... ....

    @lovehunter You're Right On !!! That's What I Said To My Friends !!!

    a.... ....

@Tom G -Blackmore is a Rainbow member...he formed it with Dio. SMH.

  18. O.... M....

    Ladies and Gentlemen.. DEEEEEEEEP PURPLEEEEEEEEE.

    O.... M....

I think this band was actually called Deep Rainbow :p

    O.... M....

    I think I'm Woke?

    O.... M....

THAT'S NOT Purple. Its Lord Paice Glover,Blackmore, and some woman.

    O.... M....

@Final Frontier No !!! Did You Called Whitesnake....Deep Snake When Lord & Paice Join' Coverdale ???

  19. D.... I....

rehashed riff of wring that neck, fucking awesome song non the less

  20. B.... K....

This album and 1999's Abandon I find interesting sound wise in that each album has 4 of 5 of the MKII lineup. This one minus Gillan, and Abandon minus Ritchie-just a thought.....

    B.... K....

+Pariah666Banshee42 Could be Whitebow or Rainsnake, but both sound too corny. Anyway, Whitesnake is David Coverdale, and it just happens that Lord and Paice were also in that group, even at the same time.

    B.... K....

@Crafty Spirit the softer sound was an attempt to be more radio friendly. This was a period of time with deep purple still had delusions of being able to get airplay on radio stations. Unfortunately those days have passed.

    B.... K....

@Joe Schillaci Unfortunately because bands like Deep Purple lost impact or because contemporary mainstream music sucks? (Though this may actually be the same thing expressed differently :D)

    B.... K....

drmjr78 Who is the third member only Glover & Blackmore played in rainbow I hope you’re not thinking of don airy

    B.... K....

@Pony Trekker True, I mixed something up :-)

  21. d.... ....

I think this song resembles the Rainbow song Death Alley Driver.

    d.... ....

Right, and the late Jon Lord was one of the best rock organ players of all time - one of the first to use distortion, also done by Keith Emerson and Uriah Heep - possibly by Argent as well.

    d.... ....

By the way, I have the same birthdate as John Belushi (January 24) and also Neil Diamond (Deep Purple covered a Neil Diamond song, "Kentucky Woman" on their 2nd album with the Mark 1 line-up, with Rod Evans and Nic Simper).

    d.... ....

He said."I Yam who I Yam" ..I'm Popeye the sailor? smart to the finish because I eat my spinach/

    d.... ....

Gerry Corbetta (Sugar Loaf) used some distortion as well
    as well

    d.... ....

I think it's Jerry, but I think you're right - both their big hits were great! I'd love to own an organ and be able to play like that.

  22. H.... O....

    hey you gotta match?

  23. c.... ....

Le seul titre sauvable d'un album médiocre :(

    c.... ....

colonelparcoeur absolument pas, écoutez l'album et vous comprendrez
