Sure a unique voice of his own, but to me he lived a life many of us are afraid to.     To live life enjoying all the pleasures (or sins) out there rather than to live a 'responsible' life has to be applauded.    Me I stuck to a mundane life suppose to be the norm but coming to the latter part of of my life I think Dino made a better choice.    Live life to the full cos it only happens once?

hirdy6 You are quite right, although it's true that Dean did indeed enjoy his life, it's equally true that he took his family responsibilities seriously. It's pretty well known that he did cheat on Jeannie, but she apparently loved him enough to tolerate it because in other ways he was a good husband and father. His daughter Deana said in her biography that Dean often told her that he worked hard "to pay for all you kids" And despite his womanising, I think that he did love Jeannie in his own way, as I recently came across an interview that he gave in 1967 in which he said; "And I found Jeannie, such a wife. She took my 4 children from my first marriage, and she won 'em over, and she was so young. They call call her Mom, you know. And we had 3 others, and she loved 'em all the same. Isn't that fabulous? ..... what luck that my Jeannie was there and was such a fine lady. My Jeannie and her blue eyes."

Chris King He was very responsible. He worked hard all his life so that his 7 kids never had to worry about finances. He was always home at dinner time to be with his family. Sure he was not perfect, none of us are. Great singer, actor, comedian and all round entertainer.

Oh, wow, Dino did a great job on this song, maybe better than others who sang it, even Elvis.  Dino sounds like he means it.  I remember I was still at home and my mom liked this song and I began to like it because she did.  I miss my mom so much.  Mama, maybe I'll be with you soon.  I miss you so much and you were my only comfort growing up.

When it comes to pure singing prowess, especially live, surely Dean is better. But overall I enjoy the voices of both, and the songs of both. Too bad such artists won't grace us again, judging by the music that's currently prevalent.

Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr. , Tom Jones, Matt Monro, Pavarotti.They are all better than Elvis but Dean is on par with them all, he IS one of the greats.

Dean is my favorite singer of all time, and he was absolutely amazing. If you want to hear emotion, listen to his versions of The Tip of My Fingers (my favorite song), Little Green Apples, Honey, Face in a Crowd, Let Me Go Lover, I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry, You Belong to Me, Return to Me . . . and the list goes on and on.

@illusionistdave You need to understand hes just singing it as sincere as possible because in 1963 Dean was the Mack Daddy and most likely would just move on to the next chick waiting' in his welfare line. When Elvis recorded it he has just lost his Wife and child and it also was sincerely sang.

I like so much this song.

I don't want to knock Dean. Obviously he was a good singer, but where is his emotion? I've never heard him sing with any. In Elvis's version, you can hear Elvis's heart ripping out of his chest. In this version it's like "I'm gonna let you have her, but go ahead and be good to her please."

Terrific song, great rendition by Dean, I have so many of his songs but I don't think I have heard him sing this before, thanks.
