Dead Can Dance Emmeleia Comments
  1. B.... O....

Does anyone know the translation for this? sounds like a mourning chant... I find it beautiful and so misterious

  2. b.... ....

  3. P.... ....

    @_@ other songs like this??

  4. E.... A....

¿alguien conoce alguna otra canción o canto parecida a esta? ¿Does anyone know any other song like this?

  5. E.... P....

"Emmeleia": The title (in Greek ἐμμέλεια, meaning "gracefulness" or "harmonization") was the name of the grave and dignified dance of tragedy in the theatre of ancient Greece (each dramatic genre featured its own chorus dance, being the emmeleia or emmelīa in tragedy, the kordax or cordax in comedy, and the sikinnis or sicinnis in satyr-play[10]). The "lyrics" derive from Lisa Gerrard's usual glossolalia, but because she had to write down a phonetic version for Brendan Perry to sing along with her, this song sounds much more like a structured language. Written transcriptions exist but no language could be recognised.

  6. J.... N....

    Is this a real language?

    J.... N....

Yes. It's a form of Hellenic language, related to Greek.

    J.... N....

It's Ancient Macedonian, a Hellenic language related to Greek.

  7. P.... C....

Merci DCD

  8. k.... ....

    Sounds Greek... beautiful

    k.... ....

Close. It's actually Ancient Macedonian; which is a relative to Greek. (a Hellenic language)

  9. Y.... Y....

Even touching your speakers listening to this is majestically harmonical.

  10. C.... G....

do you know please this lenguage ?

    D.... l....

Lenka Karhanová It’s not any existing language. Just phonetically transcribed random syllables.

    D.... l....

@Lenka Karhanová ancient Macedonian. A dead language

    D.... l....

@milancelisac is call glosolalia o xenoglosia, it is the fluid vocalization of syllables with no understandable meaning. In current use, both terms differ in that while glossolalia is the babble of non-existent language, xenoglossia is the ability to speak fluently a language that the speaker has never learned

  14. .... ....

  15. O.... D....

    WHICH LANGUEGE IS THIS

    O.... D....

    Osman demiroğlu sanırım yunanca

    O.... D....

This was an ancient pagan Hellenic hymn. The language is ancient Macedonian (now extinct). That's why it sounds similar to Greek. Hellenic peoples would dance to this hymn when something tragic or devastating would happen to someone of their tribe.

Because it's not Greek or Hebrew,is this the Pleiadian dialect?

    J.... J....

Because they're thought to come from the Pleidian constellation

    J.... J....

@***** Through meditation and out of body experiences from what a lot of people say. How do so many people believe in "god" when there is absolutely no proof that it exists.

    J.... J....

Something approximate to this could be Orthodox / Greek-Byzantine music by Divna Ljubojevic.

    J.... J....

Just to remember, wtf you guys are thinking a year ago, goodbye!

    J.... J....

Orthodox chant is different than this. This is closer to Old Roman chant (pre-schism) where the Churches were united, and their music was unlike any still performed, beautiful though "modern" chant may be.

  22. R.... E....

It's glossolalia, the same kind of sounds and rhythm as people talking in tongues.

    R.... E....

Actually no. It is ancient Macedonian (a dead language) and is a pagan Hellenic hymn from ancient times, sung or danced during times of tragedy

  23. J.... M....

Saludos

    B.... ....

@ΚΩΣΤΑΣ ΜΑΝΑΣ this is a form of Hellenic, I assure you. But its not greek. Plus it probably had more grammar cases back then. Modern Greek has only about 4.

Most people would say this was sort of crazy that people listen to an unkown language that the girl sings... And some may say creepy.. But to me this is Relaxing and brings me home reunited with my soul..

  37. A.... ....

i know im not saying that the song is greek
