De Burgh, Chris - Transmission Ends Lyrics
Looking out on a windy sky,
Watching seabirds as they fly,
On a summer day, on a summer day;
And now the sun is here to stay,
In the summertime, in the summertime;
Sitting here with my love tonight,
News is breaking from the south,
On the radio, on the radio;
Brother lead and sister steel,
Are playing out their final scene,
On the radio, on the radio;
I often listen to the rhythm of your heartbeat giving life,
You are so precious to me darling, it will always be that way,
Until the final act is over,
Until every man has spoken,
Until every battle's done,
Until the day,
Transmission ends, transmission ends;
Waiting up for a show tonight,
Coming in via satellite,
From America, from America;
Whispers from some far-off place,
Are drifting into outer space,
From America, from America;
And when I see a shooting star go flashing in the night,
I often wonder if some other beings also see the light,
And are they picking up our signals,
As they spin of into space,
Until the final act is over,
Until every man has spoken,
Until every summer's gone,
Until every battle's done,
Until the day,
Transmission ends, transmission ends;
Oh don't let it happen, don't let it happen, no, no,
Darling, I'm always going to love you,
Yes I'm always going to love you,
Darling, I'm always going to love you,
Until the final day,
Until the final hour,
I'm always going to be with you,
Yes I'm always going to be with you,
My love always going to be with you,
Until the day comes down,
The man is on the radio,
"This is station planet Earth, we're closing down,
Transmission ends,
Station planet Earth is closing down,
Transmission ends, transmission ends."

De Burgh, Chris Transmission Ends Comments
One of my all-time favorite songs. It's too bad the album this was on has been relegated to the dust bin for being different from the rest of his catalogue. I was only a teen when it came out but I thought it was his best album.
Amazing song. See him in October. Looking forward so much. Saw him last time in the 80s/90s three times
Just found this. Love his "Lady in Red"! WoW! For a time such as this.
Wow , first time hearing ❤️👍🏻
The most underrated artist of all time.
I agree 100%. I've thought this for a long time. He's a great songwriter. I think his biggest success has been in Germany.
This is station planet Earth, we are closing down... Ripes my heart but I still love you.
"Man on the line" album is a story....It starts with a heartbeat at the begining of the first song...then by the end of the last song, (Transmission Ends), it ends with a final flatline. Great album!
My favorite album of all time is Man On The Line. I love Chris De Burgh,. I got to know that album in 1985 when I was an exchange student in high school in (W) Germany! I came back to US, & introduced this album along w/ the European music to US, bf it arrived....made me pretty popular in high school by being the one to introduce “progressive rock,” precursor to “alternative.” I wish I could get Man on the Line on iTunes. Of course, the album I brought to US is gone. Can anybody help? :) [email protected]—-😍😍😘😘Beth
My love his music...so nostalgic
I cannot say in words what this song means to me. It speaks to me in my darkest hours. Thx Chris !
Station planet earth is closing down... transmission ends... transmisson ends...
Such a beautiful song 💕
Listening to this as North Korea have just launched a nuke over Japan. Stay safe people - see you on the other side. Transmission ends...................
I love his music...so nostalgic
If we don't stop electing morons, (president* #heelspurs), we will be closing down way too soon. Lead by example. Think for yourself.
pure class
an amazing performance by one of the most talented artists in musical history!
Great song... My fav.... Man on line.... Such an underrated album....
An appropriate love song for the Trump era ...
maravillosa
What a classic!!
AMAZIN SEEN HIM IN Belfast U K 89 MAGIC SONG THX FOR POSTIN
i so agree. i'm a fan of metal also and absolutely love this song, as well as the Man on the Line album
chester AMEN here too.
absolutely! one of my favorite albums!
As a fan of heavy metal music the thought of listening to a Chris de Burgh album would normally fill me with absolute dread - however credit where credit's due. Man On The Line is a superb album and Transmission Ends is one of the most beautifully crafted songs of all time. Hard to believe that the same man could also come up with something as nauseatingly obnoxious as Lady In Red!
He could certainly lay on the schmaltz. I was a fan of his early storytelling minstrel type work. "At the End of a Perfect Day". and Spanish Train and other Stories", and Crusader, then I went onto other musical interests. But he can write, for sure.
simply stunning

I would just like to know what guitar that is? Can anyone tell me?
It's mady by "The Guitar Factory" from Olando, Florida. But as far as I know they don't produce them anymore. Anyway the website is still available: http://www.guitarfactory.us/
@66FWilde Thanks for the info. They are beaut guitars. I also enjoyed the simple accompaniment on that 12 string. The song doesn't need anything more. :-)

Chris. First of all, I like every one of your songs. But this one happens to be a favourite of mine.
I've seen you in concert twice, and if you come to Newfoundland again anytime, I'm gonna be sure to get a ticket.
WOW ....This is one of my top 10 songs, in the same bag with the Beatles and Peter Gabriel and Genesis ....I wish Chris had more albums like "Man on Line" ....that one is song after song a masterpiece. I often wonder If some other beings also see the light ....Transmission Ends ....Station Planet Earth ...is closing down. Transmission Ends.
Hi Chris De Burgh,
I saw you at the Gaiety and also at Rastatt. You are awesome in concert. I was also going to see you in Mainz, but i got lost and drove around Mainz for about 3 hours. By then it was too late to see the concert.
Hopefully you will tour a little closer to California soon, so I dont have to travel the world to see you in concert. ( although i enjoyed Ireland and Germany very much!)
Love this version...
My favourite song of all time!! Love this version with the big bridge - just magical!!!
