I first heard DOTN on KROQ in 1997. I was 37. Touch, Peel and Stand came on and I was instantly in love with the song and sound. I couldn't buy the Yellow album quick enough. Travis Meeks....an incredible talent.

THANK U! I LOVE THIS! I bought this CD back in like '08 called Days of the New: The Definitive Collection,and that album helped me thru a terrible detox.This song became an instant favorite of mine.

I absolutely love this music and i'm sure i may have an immense emotional attachment to the music since it has helped me through my hardest times in life all on its own... I'm a devoted full on metal head and now don't get me wrong i listen to a lot more than just metal but being such a big metal head i have come across some insane musicianship. Not very much conveys the level of emotions to me as much as this music does and it will always be a reminder to me that no matter how low you think you've gone there's a way back up. Thank you days of the new, i am for ever indebted to you.

I have all of Travis meeks heavy stuff that he recorded back in 2001. It's actually pretty damn good. I have all of his pre- days of the new material as well. But back then, the band was called "Bad Dreemz". lol We were like 14 years old. But that stuff is what got him noticed. He wrote "Freak" when he was 15.

Consider this acoustic metal! Travis sought to make something different from his "Yellow" album, and so the "Green" album was born, heavily orchestrated and mixed with acoustic guitars, it invokes a feeling of time gone past, steampunk, swords, and Calvary.

Fucking Days of the New... Dude was / is so ahead of his time it blows me away. Trying to recall any bands that have this level of musicianship nowadays is pretty damn difficult!

I think if he hadn't made the decisions he did with his extensive drug use he could have redefined country western blues

Many do indeed argue that Travis screwed his career by firing the original band. However, I believe that that was not such a bad thing at all. Out of all three albums released by Days of The New, Yellow is in fact my favorite, but each album, Yellow, Green and Red all have a very distinctive sound and style which is quite unique.

So, yes, I do agree with you when you say that both bands are excellent. However, I think that taking meth (almost) ruined his career; not firing the band members.

Tantric is the band which was formed by the former members of Days of The New. It is certainly not the same band at all. Days of The New IS Travis Meeks. Without him, it's nothing. Tantic doesn't have shit on Travis Meeks.

WAS the "same" band... (same, meaning most of them were in DotN for the 1st album). They've had defections over the years and only one original guy's left.

The best thing about this band, is that, unlike almost every other band in the world, they are using Acustic guitars and not el-guitars. That's a lot more beautifull listening to acustics instead of el-guitars... LOVE THIS BAND
