David Gilmour - Dancing Right In Front Of Me Lyrics

Maybe I should have shown you a clearer plainer truth
That doesn't care about summer and less about youth
Now in this silence what more is there to do
Something has broken in me and in you

In watchful dependence a satellite spins
Cautiously circling the space that I'm in
It's bouncing me signals - distorted by time
And I'm stuck here waiting for the stars to align

Dancing right in front of me, all the lives I once could see
Slipping to and slipping fro, disappearing
Who's to know where they have gone - just out of sight
Into the shadows of my night
Who started out as stars in my eyes

There's a wide horizon, go on now take a chance
Your star is shining it lights a brighter path
It's all there inside you, take one day at a time
Reeling, freewheeling, I want to watch you fly

  3. B.... R....

I wonder why this song's not popular as the tittle track but, everytime i listen to it I feel it's written about the relationships which stands on lies is bound to fall. David sir, i just can't stop praising you for the composition and lyrics of this song.
This song TRANSCENDS me everytime when i listen to it.

que genio David , una leyenda que sigue

  5. C.... ....

I'd be shocked if this song "wasn't" a collaboration between Gilmour and Paul McCartney. Tell me I'm wrong.

  16. j.... .....

this work is so unique and so pleasureable :)

  17. j.... .....

compare with this rogers 'work' i mean, the gravely immature free-forming tantrum throwing political little girl that roger is

    j.... .....

jamie .jamie i think Roger’s latest album is great. But he’s no Gilmour...

  18. S.... ....

That riff at 0:20 is just perfect!!

    S.... ....

у него все гитарные соло perfect!

  19. b.... .....

I love Pink Floyd, have been listening to them since 1972. But this I cant listen to. Its sort of like he is just going through the motion, but it just doesn't have the charm his previous albums do. Something is just missing.

    b.... .....

    Its called richard wright

  20. S.... J....

Very catchy. This is one of my favorites from Rattle. I love that guitar!

  21. D.... O....

This is beautiful...I get carried away with him and his music...

  22. T.... S....

another masterpiece long live david gilmour and all that were part of floyd

  23. T.... M....

my favorite song from the "Rattle That Lock" album. love this

  24. T.... R....

David's music always tugs at my heart strings. His singing and guitar playing gets better with age. This song was a favorite on first listen when the album came out. I love the album so much I have all FIVE VERSIONS OF IT (CD, CD/DVD, CD/BluRay, 180 Gram and Deluxe MP3 from Amazon which I got free with the CD/DVD).

    T.... R....

Terrence Reardon I dig it bro!

  25. H.... G....

If I could thank him for playing with us again better than this I would. "Thank you David, for sharing such beautiful music to live in."

  26. n.... ....

Reminds me of "Tango in The Dark" by Fleetwood Mac.

  27. f.... ....

Sounds like argentine tango at 3.20!!!

  28. M.... N....

    ♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡

  29. J.... T....

I witnessed this live on 04.06.16 at the Auditorium Theater Chicago. It Was an amazing evening.

  30. M.... M....

    cool blues - jazz song.

  31. M.... G....

It's so easy to tell which songs from Rattle That Lock are written completely by David and which have lyrics written by his wife Polly. David's songs say so much without saying much while Polly's try so very hard to say anything while saying way too much.

    M.... G....

did you listen to high hopes? polly was brilliant writing those lyrics

  32. A.... A....

Ottimo CD davvero.........David is God!!!

  36. J.... T....

his 3/4 timing songs are some of his best

    J.... T....

it shifts sigs in each section .. great writing tool.

    J.... T....

+Jay Tee Bee i agree. but this isn't in 3/4.

    J.... T....

    Correct SneezyD. It's 4/4

    J.... T....

Uhhh, except this song is in 4/4.......... not 3/4

  37. J.... V....

One of my favorite songs from Rattle That Lock. Not sure why David isn't playing this one live. I'd rather hear this than Astronomy Domine or Fat Old Sun.

This one reminds me a bit if David was in The Beatles.

    J.... V....

+Jason Vandervoort I'd like to here it more than Astronomy Domine, but not Fat Old Sun. Sounds like a jazzy rock combo, I wish the piano part was extended though.

    J.... V....

He played this song twice live. One was in Poland with an orchestra and it was awesome.

    J.... V....

Jason Vandervoort Intro sounds like Michelle a bit. I love Fat Old Sun though.

    J.... V....

    This is awesome!

    J.... V....

The Beatles influenced everyone, even Motorhead.

  38. N.... M....

This man is simply a legend.....

  39. N.... M....

    Pure Magic......

  40. T.... H....

thanks dave,im a long time fan of your music and i listen to your work daily. My nickname is Mihalis

  41. p.... a....

    Simply delicious !!!

  42. R.... F....

I know it seems sort of an anachronism in this day and age to be listening to David Gilmour to many of younger generations, or even, God forbid, "My parents old albums of Pink Floyd.", but then once they do they are like New Converts. I find it amusing. This music will last as opposed to anything done by Miley Cyrus or Justin Bieber or ANY OF THE NEW GENERATION OF "MUSICIANS" coming out today. Their music will be forgotten tomorrow for the most part while the music of Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Elvis Presley and so forth and so on will long memorialized and played and played....

    R.... F....

    Well said brotha

    R.... F....

+josh manion maybe I like your statement because I am a convert from coldplay to my dads old pink floyd music.. I love pink floyd more than my dad did when they were together, we saw rattle that lock at hollywood bowl, so crazy

    R.... F....

Raymond McAteer Musical preference is not something dependent on age. I personally believe it is built from the sum of ones experiences and personality. Let's just hope that listening to our tunes becomes a nice experience for them.

    R.... F....

Well said, Raymond, and O so true!

    R.... F....

Pink Floyd, Beatles, Zeppelin -- that's my native heath of music, and I'm one of the 'younger generation'. I'm still making the effort to get into more modern music, such as Steven Wilson and Radiohead. There are some excellent artists out there nowadays, but none of them quite approach the depth of soul-touching that the old bands do for me.

  43. M.... E....

    Best song on 'Rattle'

  44. j.... n....

would love to hear that railway station "jingle" announcement in France for, rattle that lock.

    j.... n....

    I hear you

  45. G.... F....

I love this song so much
    (I love all songs)

  46. J.... T....

    great album !!!!

  47. W.... C....
