@afrodamus @afrodamus That's the Holy Spirit hitting that spot in your heart. I'm afraid you have a misunderstanding of Church. Church isn't a building we go to on Sunday morning, just to sing a few songs and listen to someone talk. Although being in the Father's house to worship Him is a vital part of our relationship with Jesus Christ, it isn't an end all be all and it definitely doesn't guarantee your salvation. Salvation alone comes by grace through faith that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and He was sent to this earth to take on the punishment you rightfully deserved for your sin and disobedience. The "Church" otherwise known as The Body of Christ is just that, a body. We are the hands, the feet and the mouthpiece for our Lord Jesus, until He returns (by the looks of our world's condition today, it my be sooner than later, but that's another topic all together) I pray with all my heart that you know Jesus Christ and that He is your Lord and Savior. Please don’t confuse man-made ideologies and rituals as a relationship with the Creator of the Universe.

If you don’t know Jesus I can lead you to that decision right now, I don’t know you nor do I know where you are in this world, (this goes for anyone else out there that doesn’t know Jesus) but Jesus knows you and if you’re not 100% sure if you die today you’re going to heaven, this is for you.
The book of Romans, Chapter 3 says that all people are sinners and all fall short of God’s glorious standard, and that The Law of Moses (10 Commandments) was given to show us how sinful we are. If you break one commandment you break the whole law. Sin brings death. Sin separates us from the Holiness and Divine nature of God. He is perfect and incorruptible. In the Old Testament God implemented a sacrificial system to temporarily deal with sin. If you sinned, (worshiped a false god, stole, lied, committed adultery, wanted something your neighbor had, etc…) you were to bring a sin sacrifice to the priests. This sin sacrifice had to be a lamb from your flock, it had to be perfect and with out defect or blemish. The priests would take it, kill it and spread the blood of the lamb on the altar of God as a payment or atonement for their sin. But, this was only a temporary fix for a serious problem. This was like taking aspirin if you have cancer, it wasn’t designed to kill the cancer (your sin), just mask it.
But, God in His great mercy implemented a greater plan long before the Creation. He planned all along to send His Son, Jesus Christ the Lamb of God, as the spotless and perfect sin sacrifice for the whole world. Romans 3:21-30 sums it up perfectly… 21But now God has shown us a way to be made right with him without keeping the requirements of the law, as was promised in the writings of Moses and the prophets long ago. 22We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are. 23For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. 24Yet God freely and graciously declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. 25For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood. This sacrifice shows that God was being fair when he held back and did not punish those who sinned in times past, 26for he was looking ahead and including them in what he would do in this present time. God did this to demonstrate his righteousness, for he himself is fair and just, and he declares sinners to be right in his sight when they believe in Jesus. 27Can we boast, then, that we have done anything to be accepted by God? No, because our acquittal is not based on obeying the law. It is based on faith. 28So we are made right with God through faith and not by obeying the law. 29After all, is God the God of the Jews only? Isn’t he also the God of the Gentiles? Of course he is. 30There is only one God, and he makes people right with himself only by faith, whether they are Jews or Gentiles.
Jesus said, “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life, no one come to the Father except through me.” The way I see it is, there’s one of two options. He was the biggest liar in human history, or He’s telling the truth.  We all have a choice, I have a choice, you have a choice to believe. God has given us a free will, so when we choose to love and serve Him, it’s genuine. I don’t force my wife to love me, she chooses to. That is love. Jesus Christ is the epitome of love.
Jesus said, "I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying.”
I don’t know about you, but I want in on that. Because every human being on this planet has a problem… We are all going to the grave. You can’t stop it. This man said all you have to do is believe that I am the Son of God, believe that I came to this earth to be murdered for you, so that you may live in paradise for all eternity. It’s a gift, it’s free.
If you’re reading this and you know you need this all you have to do is say this prayer. It doesn’t mean you don’t have questions or maybe even doubts. But, if one fiber of your being says this is real, say this prayer out load or in your mind.
“Dear God, I recognize I am a sinner in need of a Savior. Jesus, I believe you are the Son of God, you were sent to this earth to live a perfect life, lay down your life for my sin and rebellion. I believe that you died, and rose again on the third day, proving that you have authority over sin and death. Because you rose, I will too. Thank you for the free gift of eternal life. I pray all this, in your name Jesus, Amen.
If you prayed that prayer and meant it in your heart, CONGRATULATIONS! You are now a child of God! I pray that God blesses you all the days of your life and that you will leave a huge impact on this world for the sake of Jesus.
The next step is very important… Luke 12:8,9 says"I tell you the truth, everyone who acknowledges me publicly here on earth, the Son of Man will also acknowledge in the presence of God’s angels.9But anyone who denies me here on earth will be denied before God’s angels.
Go tell someone, anyone, who will listen about you decision to follow Christ. I encourage you to find a bible study or a group of friends who attend a bible based church that teaches the Word of God in power and purity. God Bless all who prayed this prayer.

@Nathan Burns nah i have pretty decent grasp of organized religion.  i know that holy wars have been the single highest cause of human mortality in history.  more than any other form of conflict combined.  belief isnt the root of the issue, its the compartmentalization and prepackaged tenants that differ from place to place.  its the vehement denial of things that we as people have proven and the exclusion of some from this paradise based upon choices that affect nobody.  i believe in god, i know this and ive always known this.  i also believe that god doesnt care what name you call him, where you pray, how you pray, or what nationality you are.  i also dont think he cares who youre having sex with or what you define as marriage.  i place my faith in equality.  equal parts science and religion.  equal parts gay and straight, equal parts muslim, buddist, protestant, taoist, athiest, agnostic and every faith under the sun.  its like AT&T walking over to sprint and killing all its workers since theirs carries the one true phone.  or when email took over and fax became obsolete, anyone who owned a fax was set aflame or worse, if fax was still popular or that one guy who knew how to email was deemed a freak and killed by a court of law

Yeah, I'm atheist as well and though Dave Barnes does tend to sing songs with the theme of God, you don't have to see it that way. I love him and his music...so I just casually listen to it, without the God context. Just enjoy the music!! :)

This helps me get through a lot the things for school. When I first heard it I thought of how I had just climbed the tallest mountain in Colorado, and how hard it was. I'm a cross country runner and a track runner, and for some reason this song really just connected to me with how everything is.
