Darkest Hour - Beneath It Sleeps Lyrics

Beyond the reaches of
A thousand rising suns
Your god won't save you now
Your god always was
Infected plagiaristic
Simple to understand
With no obligation to the true nature of the land

Defy derelict devil in a suit
A celebrated life
A celebrated tomb

I've looked away
I've cast aside
Stared into the emptiness
A vacant heart a vacant mind

Now I can see it clear
Enter the overgrown
Separated and selected
The blood of my blood will defy

I love the fear of night
I love the moon
I hate to wake you up
This may all be over soon

This is my final entry
I feel I may have finally
Cracked the code
To sustaining and maintaining
A vibrant and healthy
Human life
Maybe it's nothing but
I swear I hear the birds of
The morning hours
It makes my heart go a-flutter
The tower once risen to power
Has crumbled is dying
And devouring itself
And what I've come to discover
Has been nothing more than

I think this song is a homage to With A Thousand Words To Say But One now that I've listened to it for a while.

Probably my favorite on the album! Kris Norris contributed on this one. It reminds me of the Deliver Us / Undoing Ruin style.

Milos Buncic must be why I dig it so much.

So glad they went back to writing thrashy music. Their last album had me worried. This kicks ass though!

I like this, but I liked their last one too, it was unique...been a fan since Undoing Ruin, btw.

The last album defiantly had some gems on it, wasteland, the great oppressor, lost for life, goddess figure, Hypatia rising, rapture in exile, Beneath the blackening sun. I thought it was their best album after the departure of Kris Norris until they released Godless prophets 🤘🏽 it had identity issues for sure being on a new label and releasing some melodic tracks but thanks goodness over 50% of the album contained Darkest hour we love.

@Darkestal97 Probably helps that Kris contributed on this one.
