Darin, Bobby - I Believe In You Lyrics
You have the cool, clear eyes
Of a seeker of wisdom and truth
Yet there's that up-turned chin
And the grin of impetuous youth
Oh, I believe in you
I hear the sound of good, solid judgment
Whenever you talk
Yet there's the bold, brave spring of the tiger
That quickens your walk
Oh, I believe in you
I believe in you
And when my faith
In my fellow man
I've but to feel your hand grasping mine
And I take heart
I take heart
To see the cool, clear eyes
Of a seeker of wisdom and truth
Yet there's that slam, bang, tang
Reminiscent of gin and vermouth
Oh, I believe in you
How I believe in you
I believe in you
I believe in you
I believe you're good for me, baby

Darin, Bobby I Believe In You Comments
One of my favorite Bobby D songs.
This song is so underrated.
Much better tempo than Sinatra's version. Love Frank Loesser compositions!
Forever young, cool & swing
Bobby Darin was the first music artist that I actually listened to all day everyday I've been listening to bobby since I was 8 and after all those years I still am Bobby's legacy will never be forgotten we should carry it on to generation to generation to show that Bobby's legacy and music will live forever. Yes Bobby lived a short life but Bobby fulfilled his dreams as an actor and singer RIP Bobby Darin
KamKam2004 C same here! I listen to him all day!
KamKam2004 C
You've got "it" - that know, that energy, that hip in the pocket "it"
He was/continues to be through his music/vibe - a powerful "it" energy ...
It is Good!
Like a lot of singers of the era, Darin was influenced by Sinatra. So it makes little sense to compare them in a negative way.
Superb singing, as always!
My FAVORITE Bobby D song -
wonderful!!!!
Swing et phrasé inimitables , arrangement exceptionnel , Bobby Darin était probablement le meilleur chanteur de Big Band .
EXTRA "O" MEASURES
Nice comment made by Edith, nice. (I miss his conductor, a genuine soul w amazing talent, my friend Bob Rosario).
The bar was set by Bobby and my pic for the piece that does it. Pure Passionate Perfection!!! THANK YOU OH SO.MUCH FOR THIS POST!
I believe in you,Bobby. Always have. Every word of this song applies to you. You sing it better than anyone else. Compared to you, baby, Sinatra was a yawn.
Like a lot of singers of the era, Sinatra was an influence on Darin so dissing the guy does a disservice to Darin as well. This particular song was recorded by Sinatra with the great Count Basie. Hard to beat that, but I like Bobby Darin's version too.
WHAT?!?!? Sinatra "a yawn"???
Are you crazy, man.
This is a nice version of the song, no doubt, but Sinatra was king of hard swingin' AND the ballad.
Others sing notes.
Some sing notes and words.
Sinatra sang notes, words, and EMOTIONS.
If Frank is perfection at 10, the closest to him is an 8.5, Nat King Cole.
tony henry uh i think darin really had better tone and a smoother richer voice than sinatra.
The unmistakable warm smooth rich tones of Mr. Bobby Darin….. What ever Bobby touched was just pure magic, pure gold…. He always did everything to perfection…. Bobby has this incredible clear phrasing that is so sexy….. He is the greatest artist of all time, such swing and his snapping, WOW, what a combination….. Bobby has this awesome style that no one else has ever been able to emulate anywhere near close, nor can they…… Bobby Darin one of a kind, unique in every way, master genius, such a multi-talented young man who out shone others in the music industry then or even now….. Bobby is a true legend who has left a huge body of work as his legacy for many generations to come…. I thank God that this exceptional young man graced this planet of ours for as long as he was allowed to share his gifted talents with billions of people all over….. Bobby fought every day of his life with great honour, courage, strength, determination, with the desire to entertain for performing was in his blood and this he did with awesome style and resilence far greater than they who had no health problems…. "I Believe In You"….. Bobby we all BELIEVE IN YOU…. RIP MY MAN
Well said -
You have the cool clear eyes of a seeker of wisdom and truth,
Yet there's that upturned chin and the grin of impetuous youth,
I believe in you, I believe in you.
I hear the sound of good solid judgment whenever you talk,
Yet there's that bold, brave, spring of the tiger that quickens your walk,
I believe in you, I believe in you.
And when my faith in my fellow man all but falls apart,
I've but to feel your hand grasping mine, and I take heart,
I take heart to see the cool clear eyes of a seeker of wisdom and truth,
Yet there's that slam, bang, tang, reminiscent of gin and Vermouth,
Now I believe in you, I believe in you.
(musical interlude)
I believe in you, I believe in you, I believe, I believe in you.
One of Darin's best recordings....this and "Talk to the Animals." Thanks for posting, Zep!
I can think of a girl that this song describes!
