Darin, Bobby - Christmas Auld Lang Syne Lyrics

When mistletoe and tinsel glow
Paint a yuletide valentine
Back home I go to those I know
For a Christmas auld lang syne

And as we gather 'round the tree
Our voices all combine
In sweet accord to thank the Lord
For a Christmas auld lang syne

When sleigh bells ring and choirs sing
And the children's faces shine
With each new toy we share their joy
With a Christmas auld lang syne

We sing His praise this day of days
And pray next year this time
We'll all be near to share the cheer
Of a Christmas auld lang syne

"Merry Christmas everybody and a Happy New Year!"

In sweet accord we thank the Lord
For a Christmas auld lang syne

Darin, Bobby Christmas Auld Lang Syne Comments
  1. L.... ....

Driving home last year amidst the snow near midnight, after church (thanks mom) it was just perfect.

  2. L.... G....

    Have a happy 2020 everyone

  3. R.... S....

    beautiful.......

  4. b.... j....

This is one very talented man

  5. T.... T....

Why don't radio stations play this song this very week? Bobby from 58 through 63 was my favourite singer!

  6. D.... ....

Merry Christmas, see you all next year!

  7. A.... D....

This reminds me of my childhood

  8. C.... G....

    looks like creepy Kevin Spacey

They have resurrected this one and are playing it on the Sirius holiday channels. A nugget to be sure. Bobby Darin had been told that his heart might not get him past 21, but fortunately his heart allowed him to record many quality things with unique style and ability in the short time he had. He was multi-talented...he could play a number of instruments and wrote songs. We lost some of our best singers/artists too young: Judy G., Matt Monro, Buddy H., Nat, Patsy C., Jim Croce.

  10. c.... ....

Thanks for posting this seldom heard great song.

I never heard this till this year, I absolutely love it.

  13. I.... M....

I love hearing Bobby Darin sing, and I love Aud Lang Syne. I can't wait to spend this holiday season with my family, and I am happy I know this song, so I can share it with them and add it to my playlist this season ☃️🎄🎁💞 Happy Holidays everyone!

    I.... M....

11.21.19 What a wonderful song! Sung by an amazing and very talented man. Best Aud Lang Syne I've ever heard 💗🎄

  14. G.... ....

Why don’t they play this on the radio?? It has such sweet meaning.

  15. D.... ....

Have I mentioned before that this song gives me an overwhelming amount of "the feels?"

    D.... ....

    Duglife same☺️

  16. N.... T....

It’s actually a New Years song, not a Christmas song. It means old long since, or long long ago, or days gone by. I’ll just leave that here... 🤔🤭

  17. M.... Y....

You should keep up with making more videos I enjoy most of your videos. Your doing a great job.

  18. J.... D....

    This song is beyond beautiful

  19. I.... W....

I'll have to play for Christmas day this year

    I.... W....

Yeah iti is a great song. Bobby had old time swag. Bing Crosby and Nat King Cole are two of best at singing Christmas songs. A truly great era and appreciation of Christmas.

  20. R.... R....

thanks chavez, for returning this song. Bobby Darin was one of the magnificent. remember the true good times of christmas. god be with you.

  21. T.... ....

I don't like this version :/ it's a song about remembering the good times with friends and I also kinda feel like this version ignores the Scottish heritage of the song to the point where I don't think he should be saying Auld Lang Syne, he should be saying for old times sake.

  22. E.... C....

I'M inclined to embark on an ill advised irrational destructive rampant when I hear
"Rudolph" and other such secular odes to commerce and futility.
    Happy New Year.
    Et verbum caro factum est.

  23. S.... ....

Can’t possibly be performed any better. For those of you who haven’t checked out his Christmas album, “The 25th Day of Christmas,” I highly recommend it. It’s really superb.

    S.... ....

Sorry, meant "The 25th Day of December"

  24. D.... ....

Merry Christmas 2018! I love this song so much. It is one of those bittersweet type songs. Christmas day is such an amazing time of year. We spend so long getting ready for it, only for it to pass in what seems like a flash.

  25. R.... ....

I place this so much during Christmas.

  26. J.... L....

For some reason thought this was Dean Martin!

  27. 2.... ....

    Pistol Shrimps Radio sent me.

  28. S.... O....

Me hace acordar los momentos en los que mi familia y yo estábamos juntos...ahora todo ha cambiado, que bellos recuerdos

  29. a.... ....

Never take a Christmas gathering with family and friends for granted... one day it will all be a distant memory. “Nothing is as beautiful as what we see no more.” This tune captures the feelings we keep dear in our hearts.

    a.... ....

If only I knew this wisdom back then.

  30. H.... M....

Now it feels like Christmas 💖💖💖💖💖

  31. a.... m....

Bobby could sing the phone book and I'd listen.

  32. d.... ....

I think Bobby knew his time would be short, due to heart disease. He made the most of it; Gold Records, Golden Globes, and an Oscar nomination.

  33. a.... ....

Bobby Darin had a great voice in whatever song he sung. This is a great song at Christmas.

  34. j.... ....

RIP Bobby. You done good in your short life....real good.

  35. W.... w....

Merry Christmas Everyone...let's forget about politics and enjoy each others friendship.

  36. G.... Q....

A great talent, hard to imagine we lost Bobby just before Christmas of 1973. Love him.

  37. s.... ....

On this day in 1960 {December 1st} 24 year-old Bobby Darin and 18 year-old actress Sandra Dee were married in Elizabeth, New Jersey ...
Just under three weeks later on December 19th, Bobby Darin's "Christmas Auld Lang Syne" entered Billboard's Top 100 chart at position #89, the following week it rose to #58, and then on it's third and final week on the chart it peaked at #51...
The record's B-side, "Child of God", also made the Top 100, it charted for one week at position #95 on December 26th, 1960...
Between 1958 and 1973 Bobby Darin had forty Top 100 records; ten made the Top 10 with one reaching #1*, "Mack the Knife", for nine weeks in 1959...
Mr. Darin, born Walden Robert Cassotto, passed away at the young age of 37 on December 20th, 1973 {died after open heart surgery}...
    May he R.I.P.
*He just missed having a second #1 record when "Dream Lover" peaked at #2 {for 1 week} in 1959; the week it was at #2, the #1 record for that week was "The Battle of New Orleans" by Johnny Horton...

  40. D.... A....

As Christmas songs go, this is the benchmark

  41. r.... ....

My favorite Christmas song, next to "A Christmas song" by Nat King Cole

    r.... ....

I like the Ricky Nelson version of A Christmas Song

  42. A.... L....

    THANK YOU JAH !

  45. D.... ....

i love this so much! <3

  46. g.... ....

    Beautiful...!!!

  47. l.... ....

This is when America Was Great

    l.... ....

I've been watching a long lonnnngggg time for someone to finally say that. No politician on either side can bring back the America that once was..mm

    l.... ....

It was great for the real Americans.

    l.... ....

@Namreenactor1 not true standard of living was higher underage pregnancy was almost nonexistent in the black community single motherhood was actually lower than whites.

    l.... ....

You had to make a Christmas song political, didn't you?
Only for white people might I add; after all, this was the pre-civil rights era. You know that time in history that people of color were still deemed inferior by whites still because of how much melanin your skin had.

    l.... ....

@sotojoe8 It's almost as if you forgot to mention that black people were discriminated from jobs, public facilities, the pursuit of education, the pursuit of fair housing, etc, etc, etc, etc when you were painting your picture of how well black people had it back then!

Also, your first statement is false. The standard of living was not higher before as the poverty rate in the 1960s was 32% as opposed to the 22% today. http://theconversation.com/black-americans-mostly-left-behind-by-progress-since-dr-kings-death-89956

  48. D.... S....

a great song by the great Bobby Darin

  49. n.... ....

I agree, this should be heard more often at Christmas. Beautiful, bittersweet rendition that cannot be duplicated. Thank you for posting.

  50. L.... ....

Heard it going home on KEXP

  51. M.... M....

This is the definitive version of this song.

  52. H.... G....

How come we do not hear this beautiful song more often on air?

    H.... G....

Good question. All the good ones we never hear much. We just hear the same stuff over and over again.

    H.... G....

Hans Gustavsson Most likely because —although it is areligious, (a fact that should meld well with the increasingly-areligious, consumeristic stations that bother with Christmas music)— it’s a song that’s traditionally sung on New Year’s —Eve— Day, and by then I think a lot of stations are in the midst of the transition -if not -_-to-_- music for St. Valentine’s Day- _away_ from Christmas and back to their usual playlists.

    H.... G....

I’ve been complaining for yrs about the same repeated songs. My only excuse I can give is that these are considered “free” bc the families aren’t getting any royalties or have died so the become free & up for grabs. Sadly I’m so sick of the usual old songs & cant stand to hear them any more. There’s 1000’s out there but regurgitate 100

  53. L.... D....

This is a fantastic christmas song should be heard on every christmas holiday liz 2015⌚⌚⌚⌚⌚

  54. 4.... ....

What a voice he had. Pure and powerful. The way he hits and holds that high note toward the end - then brings it down without effort... truly magnificent.

    4.... ....

my favorite christmas song as well....such a beautiful piece :)

  55. k.... ....
