Damned Things, The - Ironiclast Lyrics
You're soaking wet in the middle of a dry spell
The cold sex and the boredom sells
Heat-seeker, pull the curtain down
The death pangs and the wedding vows
It runs through every inch of my veins
Turn the music off, pull the covers down
The death mask is a bridal veil
You're so cool, you snuff out all the verve
You don't feel much but you've got every nerve
Tell the kids, boy, what's it's like to be stoned?
Like I don't know, oh, I know
I've got a right to know
I've got a right to know
I've got a right to know
Snake charmer, going out through the trapdoor
The black sheep the lost boys are waiting for
Fashion martyr, walk the catwalk
Your knees buckled from the weight of the cross
This trash is fucking contagious
It runs through every inch of my veins
Turn the music off, pull the covers down
The death mask is a bridal veil
You're so cool, you snuff out all the verve
You don't feel much but you've got every nerve
Tell the kids, boy, what's it's like to be stoned?
Like I don't know, oh, I know
I got a black cloud above me too
And I got lungs to match
This trash is fucking contagious
It covers every broken inch of my bones
Turn the music off, pull the covers down
The death bed is the marital tomb, so cold

Damned Things, The Ironiclast Comments
happy as all hell there is smth in the works for them
i cant get over how good this song is
Man, I just wish they were not on hiatus...
They aren't. New EP on the way man!!!
@Padraig Murphy Really? I swear they were on hiatus. But, knowing there's newer material coming made this day even better. Thanks for the new bro!
Herr Doviculus Liddell They just dropped their new single.
Do I have news for you...
By far my favourite album of all time.
Such an amazing band; when I first heard of the damned things I assumed they were just another new emerging hard rock band. But when I found out that they were comprised of members of fall out boy (which I personally dislike but respect), anthrax and every time I die I was dumbfounded. I took my first listen with the song ironiclast and I was amazed right away, great band. Scott Ian and the singer from every time I die are really what makes this band, although you can hear the pop-rock influence from fall out boy, making it more commercial. I love these guys and everything about them, cant wait to hear their next stuff.
Except we're not going to see anything new from them :(
@mnames456 yeah so sad :( i hope they do however change their mind and creat some more masterpieces
@Jordan Mayer Andy Hurley is a legend of a drummer, fall out boy or not :)
@mnames456 The Damned Things are back!
@Sven Westerbeek they're back
who would compare every time i die and anthrax to anberlin lol
I found this CD at my library today. Hope it's good :)
Dude, I honestly couldn't give less of a f**k what everyone thinks of this band, Ironiclast is one of the best ROCK albums, beginning to end, that I've heard in like, 10 years. FACT! It's NOT ETID, it's NOT Fall out boy, and it's NOT Anthrax! It's The F**king Damned Things!
Rob Caggiano is the man
Keith Buckley and Scott Ian.
It's my Vocal God and Guitar God in one band.
Jesus fuck.
As the saying goes for you, opinions are like assholes, everyone has one and yours really stinks.
he was kind of a weak choice as vox for this group. He's not really known well for his singing, and most of his career with etid he did nasty gutterals and voice-wrecking yells. I don't really prefer his voice clean, I don't really think it's powerful enough alone tbh, but that's all he really does with this band. It just doesn't seem like he's as committed when he's not screaming, and here it just seems a little weak. Only downfall of this band, and apart from that he is an excellent lyricist.
Seriously? Is no one listening to this band because of Keith Buckley!? I sure as hell am.
0neJay pretty damn close. I love 80's anthrax as much or more than any other thrash band at that time but I think etid is doing to the "metalcore genre" what anthrax did to thrash metal in the 80s. They just do it so much better than the next guy. For me, Buckley and Ian are the standouts in what we hear on album but Rob is the man that made it come together as solid as it did.
I was and I still am
Id rather have patrick stump on vocals. Can you picture patrick Stump doin the vocals? I can its better.
No heavy metal won't suit patricks vocals
@Wydozv ExYeest Stump featured on a Weekend Nachos song called "Jock Powerviolence"
i dont understand how these guys aren't huge, this cd was soooo good.
its a shame most people do not ;)
Ok my only thing, if they had patrick stump singing instead of whoever is singing this band will be my favorite band.
Beetlejuice, Beetlejucie, Beetlejucie. I hope someone understands the song title and Beetlejuice
Im not a big fan of "supergroup" but this song is killing it I loved it \m/
@mguygh hmmmm....why i wonder?
@RoboHendrix Every Time I Die>The Damned things
i want Scott's beard
@RoboHendrix Everyone on the dance floor is doomed. Hit the ground, shut your mouth. The prisoners have laid waste to the pulpit. You're in for it now.
I honestly think this is the first band labeled a 'Supergroup' that I've really enjoyed! Good job!
The opening riff sounds strangely similar to The Sign of the Southern Cross' Huck Finn.
Shockingly good!!
holly shit this is amazing sounds a lot like priestess
@Budeluve Thats what makes it so great. A Southern Rock influenced band from Buffalo New York. They do the South better than the South do. They pioneered the fusion of Hardcore and Southern Rock. Kind of like how Anthrax and Public Enemy fused Rap and Thrash. Every Time I Die's achievement just wasn't on as big of a scale because Hardcore isn't widely accepted. If you're thinking metalcore, go check out terrible bands like Asking Alexandria, or Attack Attack. THATS Metalcore. And its awful.
@Budeluve And you trust the tags people give them? Screamo? Melodic Harcore? Really? They're a fusion of Hardcore and Southern Rock. Southern Metal .
@Budeluve Implying Every Time I Die is Metalcore. You've obviously never even listened to them if you're calling them Metalcore.
@Budeluve So because Anthrax HELPED pioneer a genre and have been around for thirty years makes them better? Have you even listened to Every Time I Die? They STARTED a sub-genre of music. Calling Metal a fad has to be the most musically ignorant statement ever. Metal has continuously been evolving over the last thirty years, and will continue to do so for a very long time. All this aside, Every Time I Die is just a better band. Deal with it, sonny.
Better than Fallout Boy? Of course. Almost any band is better than Fallout Boy. Better than Anthrax? Yes. Better than Every Time I Die? No... Not even close.
Beetljuice reference?
wtf Scott? What is this MTVish shit? It would be better if you'd play with SOD again... Anthrax /,,/
@nikoleheinemeyer32 stop advertising your virus ridden website you arse
Love the change of pace at 2:15
@yeahhmovelikethat

@sneakylemon fuck no, but it still rocks
@TheSquirrelsNuts22 Agreed man, this album is fuckin NICE. Glad I stumbled upon this sort of "superband".
@TheSquirrelsNuts22 :o My favorite band is rise against too, And these after hearing the album. Fancy that.
This reminds me of cKy with a classic metal twist added to it. In other words, I love it.
They are just too good.
damn they r soo good :)
