Damned, The - Ignite Lyrics
Twilight comes and the mood's complete
Gonna hit the street grab some of that night time beat
My heart is beat beat beating like a drum
The night is in my veins we're gonna have some fun tonight
I'm gonna set the world alight
Light the fuse I must ignite
I'm gonna set the world alight
I wanna see you burn
I killed the cigarette I killed the light
I'm killing time the heat kills me on a hot summer night
I'm gonna dream a life live a dream
Hell for leather in my scheme of things tonight
Light the fuse I must ignite
I'm gonna set the world alight
Light the fuse I must ignite
I'm gonna set the world alight

Damned, The Ignite Comments
Couldn't believe it when I first heard strawberries. After thinking they could not top The Black Album which in my view is a masterpiece , they came up with an album so incredibly musical with such fantastic arrangements , catchy melodies and fine harmonies. A mixed soup of genres with some flavors of psychedelia thrown in. A testament to the very talented musicians they are and coupled with creativity in abundance. I just wish commercially it was more of a success and that the whole world could listen to just how good this band is..
Any Damned here?
Mean the 77 s
The neo's are complete arseholes...💩
The only true punk! Ever! The Damned! Isn’t it nice in here?
Thank you so much Phantasmagoria 138-for sharing*
A lovely photo * :-)
I'll say something for Ronnie rasher, he's wearing that berret with style and panache. A charge that couldn't be leveled at captain, darling.
If I were a relief pitcher, this would be my entrance song.
It's just dawned on me that the pig on the front cover is also wearing a berry. To discover this pearler when your baked too perfection could only have been the work of Einstein.
04:37 Paul Gray (Draught) Bass. A bassist who liked draught Bass Lager? A mystery since '86. Red vinyl, Legacy Records issue. First Damned record i bought.
Saw this tour at The Country Club Reseda , Ca 1983.
David Ellis I went both nights!! 👍
Get down, brothers and sisters!
That drive and tempo remind me of Motörhead. I heard this live and I went ballistic
Yeah..The Dimmed, The Damned..The Doomed..been a Damned fan since 77..Seen them many times..Feel like I m Damned..Crazy missions..All that stuff..Correction..Discipline..Kinky Nuns..Yeah..AALL of it..Live it..Hells Angels O:-)

Best song by the second best band (just behind The Ramones).
I dont care who was first ,the damned where and still are the best , this is the best example ,.. 82 post punk english times and them breakin the sound with drums and lyrics ,nuff said
Fuck the Sex Pistols... lol
People born in the Punk era were so lucky, such good music, I'm a 90s kid so I just missed it
Calum HGaming you got the melodic era with bad religion, nofx, propaghandi, catch 22, screeching weasel, the queers, sloppy seconds and the descendents. I mean it might not be the damned, the saints and the adverts but still there was good punk in the 90s.
Esta es la mejor manera de empezar un album
best lineup they ever had, except maybe when they had the black guy in 89
Haha 666 Likes. Watch some idiot hit it to 667.
Lance Mountain!!!!
pigs are cute !
Maybe the best band ever...
One of the most killer rock bands ever would be The Damned
Probably!
Them and Danzig 1-4 lineup
Definitely the best band ever.
At this moment in time! 😊
How the fuck does someone give this a thumb's down? What kind of shit do you like? Justin Bieber?
The pic chosen by the uploader should have been the album sleeve. I liked the back sleeve with the baby pig. Why i will NEVER eat pork EVER. Cute.
This shoulld be played on Nov 5 a tribute to Guy Fawlkes at least he gave it a go
tattyjoopan3472

( STRAWBERRIES - 1982 )
Songwriters
BURNS, RAYMOND IAN / GRAY, PAUL / MILLAR, CHRISTOPHER JOHN / VANIAN, DAVID
ohh ohh ohh!!!!
This band is my absolute favorite.
I've lived in London since 1980 but I still go to Sudbury a few times every year to see friends and family. It's disappointing, these towns and villages remind me of Trumpton. It's like the punk movement never happened. What went wrong?
People have become computerized-that's why! Throw away your playstation and start living again!
I wanna see you burn!!!
Lance mountain brought me here
Skateboard forever !
Colchester Uni. Count Bishops, The Stranglers, The Damned. £3.50 on the door with a UB40. Fucking brilliant! I can remember it like it was last week, because I really miss those times. Now it's all gone to shit again, how?
I live quite near Col Uni , wasn't here then but are you still local ?
Strawberries, imho, is the Damned's best. But I like most of every album. My least favorite? Phantasmagoria, but I still liked most of it. That's why they're the best. And the whole Rat looking at Capt's face is hilarious!
Great song. Narcoleptic youth does a pretty good cover of this song.
MrRonnieded Just checked it out! pretty good!
one the best songs ever!!!
THE DAMNED forever all that new crap pfff
That riff is so hot it must burn his fingers :-)
Light The Fuse
he is gonna set the world alight with that fuse
Still fucking excellent!
Ramones were 1st,1974
Can we just agree that The Damned are better than Sex Pistols. Really, they blow hard.
I see what you did there
the damned rule, the pistols are awesome, so what?
I can agree that you and other people all have subjective personal opinions and I don't really two fucks what they are.
Difference in artists and musicianship.
RobotMonster42
I agree.
The Damned.
The Greatest Punk Band Of All Time
punk is a state of mind and a way of life that's been around for a long time (1960's) and there are many bands that play many genres that are included in that. punkrock music evolved from the punk moment not the other way around.
just for sake of argument all these band are considered punk no matter the genres of music they played and all had massive impact on the scene and the world.
MC5 1964
The Stooges 1967
New York Dolls 1971
The Ramones 1974
Sex Pistols 1975
The Damned 1976
The Clash 1976
you forgot The Monks!!
The Damned put out a single before The Pistols, and they WERE before The Pistols full. stop ...
i only count the damned as being before the sex pistols because of new rose's release.
while i dont agree with your statement i have no problem sticking with my original opinion.
while i dont agree with your statement i have no problem sticking with my original opinion.
I have a large penis, many women have told me so.
well thats all fine and dandy, but those are all rock and glam bands.
your nan eh ? Nice:)
my nans got this album from her punk days
I saw these guys at the Reseda Country Club in Southern California back in like 85 or so.... Amazing show - best show I've ever seen! Ignite was first song, and Vanian came out with cape on, flying around the stage. Just, bad azz show.
Ignite without Captain would be more like Extinguish.
GREATEST ALBUM EVER MADE
Without them, this "punk" thing would be different if not here at all
Why do all the lyrics sites miss out the last verse of this superb song? Rather frustrating because I can never figure out the beginning of the first line lol. "????? blood is rushing to my head, no pleasure tonight lying in bed."
im pretty sure that the damned were the first punk band
This is just great music !! Why divided it into genres? 8-)
Another tremendous tune by The Damned!
I love the sloppiness of the cut in of the drums - fucking hilarious. These guys are still harder than most bands out there, and actually fun to listen to, unlike all the cookie monster shit. This is just like Goldilocks - just right. Awesome guitar sound. Awesome drumming. Underrated drumming. I really Rat would tour with the band again, if he can still do his job,. The drummer they're using now is not up to the task. I have a cassette where this song segues to Buzzcocks What do I get? Try it.
The Ramones were shit
Should of been a single easily the best track on Strawberries always one track on any album that gets left on the album not put out as a single but is your favorite well this is mine....jay
No, it is punk. Like, really, plainly, clearly punk.
Lol yeah I uploaded Looking At You from Machine Gun Etiquette.
Sounds a bit like MC5's tracks they like.
bäste Vorband äver!
you are forgetting the Ramones!
nice they started in cardiff with cant remember when but i m sure i was there ish.
The Damned is beautiful and brilliant... especially this song!!!!!!!
Malcolm Mclaren destroyed the Sex Pistols.
I don't remember saying in my comment Sid was the center of the Pistols did I? I'm reading it right now, hmmm, don't see that part...my point was that the Damned were one of the few original 77 UK punks still putting out kick ass material at the time of this release. That's all I meant.
when i played thanks for the night to my damned fan mate who'd never heard it before,
he called the damned rip off bastards,
they borrow their own song
@fatewillfindyou1979 Lol cheered me up : )
No song on Earth sounds like this. It's not punk, it's not metal, it's not rock. It's... The Damned. Can I get some thumbs up, please?
@monocromeman There were signs of change afloat in Phantasmagoria too, indeed The Damned turns goth in it. There were less diferences between "Police & Thieves" and Rock the casbah", for example, than "Neat Neat Neat" and "Grimly Fiendish"
Anyway The Damned are one of the best bands ever. All of they do, they do great.
Just saw them at the black cat in dc great show
I love this song! gives me a adrenaline rush. I was lucky to see them and it was one of the most amazing shows I have ever seen. the cap had his balls all swing in the air.
gonna see the damned in august with the stranglers. cant wait
@brickmaster01 i agree the damned need recognition for that fact but not all of the clash reggae stuff was rubbish some of it was actually quite good, not their best, but still good
@brickmaster01 You could say they kept it ignited, haha worst joke ever!!!
@brickmaster01 Light the fuse I must Ignite I'm gonna set the world alight.
When this was released, the Sex Pistols were long over with, Sid was dead, The Clash were doing some awful funk reggae superstar shit but the Damned still kept on putting out great songs like this. Though I like the Pistols and the Clash, the Damned need recognition for that.
@salvadory indeed. Too close to call I feel. Nibbled to death by an okapi!
@kerbmonkey strawberries or machine gun ettiquette- always a tough one!
No it doesn't
Strawberries, my favourite Damned album? Decisions, decisions...
@HydrowolfTD
thanks for the heads up...not bad at all.....
@HydrowolfTD
The Deep Eynde also covered this song, but in a slower way.
04:40 Why I don't eat them. Too likeable.
Was at the same concert, it was 82 i think. The support act was a southern band called Charge who didn't go down very well if I recall correctly...but the dancing nuns were very good!
Burnley skins on a European tour
