Cure, The - Jupiter Crash Lyrics
She follows me down to the sound of the sea
Slips to the sand and stares up at me
"is this how it happens? is this how it feels?
Is this how a star falls?
Is this how a star falls?"
The night turns as I try to explain
Irresistable attraction and orbital plane
"or maybe it's more like a moth to a flame?"
She brushes my face with her smile
"forget about stars for a while... "
As she melts...
Meanwhile millions of miles away in space
The incoming comet brushes jupiter's face
And disappears away with barely a trace...
"was that it? was that the jupiter show?
It kinda wasn't quite what I'd hoped for you know... "
And pulling away she stands up slow
And round her the night turns
Round her the night turns...
Yeah that was it
That was the jupiter crash
Drawn too close and gone in a flash
Just a few bruises in the region of the splash...
She left to the sound of the sea
She just drifted away from me
So much for gravity...

Cure, The Jupiter Crash Comments
Thia song is so amazing. It was inspired by those asteroids that hit Jupiter in the 90's.
The best song from a very poor album.
such an underrated album with amazing songs. even the album cover is just cool to look at
It makes me feel like I'm on a beach with a lover.
Will.I.Am.7 omg yes!!!!!!
The night turns as I try to explain
Irresistible attraction and orbital plane
don't know what it is about those two lines, but i love them.
Sexual attraction
Is it just me, I don't understand why WMS is last on most polls of Cure Albums. At least half of the album is incredible. This song is a masterpiece.
Beautiful, incredible gem of a song. Another underrated Cure tune is 'Trust', off the Wish album.

I think this album is wonderful.(^з^)-☆
The Cure is the best Bands all ever !
Yeah, so much for gravity!
It’s more than an underrated track - it’s an underrated album.
Hey! If you like The Cure, you might as well enjoy Interobjects! Check it out: https://youtu.be/x5c_-pfbcz0
This album has some bangers like JC, Want, Gone, strange attraction, numb, return, mint car. The pink dream was good too but it wasnt put on the album
@maria i think it was due to the loss of two popular members and the long gap between wish. People's expectation of something powerful as wish. I was initially disappointed but this song was my fave. While i didnt like the overall direction the band was taking, i thought it was brave pushing the envelope and exploring other genre like salsa. 13th was my least favorite. If they cut some songs it wouldve been perfect.
@Dario Wirtha I can totally understand where you're coming from, the album definently has some weaker songs I always skip that surprise me as to why they even put it on the album but I guess that's why it's called wild mood swings! But the gap between wish and the setup change makes total sense, I had never considered that before :)
it is.. but then club america, return and round and round and round are absolutely rank.
love that song !!
I just recently dove into WMS for the first time ever beyond its singles, and this song is so infectiously great. I’d go as far to call this one of their best songs ever!
'...forget about stars for a while...'
Robert Smith you can have my soul
Such an underrated track I absolutely love this and Boris wrote the drum track for this,! We miss you Boris!
I read that from another comment but before reading it, I was thinking this Jason guy can write some cool drum parts sometime. Then after reading that, I was like, "off course, it sounds cool. If boris layed out the pattern." Why is he not credited?
This was Jason so shut it about hating him
Is this how a star falls!!
2017 and the pain is still very real!
2017 and jupiter still crashes
And still Jason cooper is struggling to play the drums... :(
This song is so perfect... Hope I'll be able to hear it live in Barcelona next november
i made love for the first time on the notes of this album...

"Was that it? Kinda wasn't quite what I'd hoped for, you know..."
DD DD the cure have made every man a hero in the bedroom. This is music when you FEEL LOVE! KEEP ON MAN!!! YOU FOUND THE SECRET--- YOU FOUND THE CURE!
I was indifferent to this song when it came out when I was my early 20s. Now in my mid 40s the lyrics mean so much more. I've wanted a lot and acquired a lot. More lies... I won't get more time.
One of the all time best most under appreciated Cure songs.
Listened to it so many times--I wrote a novel on it
I just read the review of your novel, I'm gonna look it up tomorrow. Even more interesting knowing it's somehow inspired by A Cure song.
Arthur Swan Any link, please?
Going to look up your book Arthur.
one of the greatest most underrated albums. WMS is top notch. And the song... well. Its perfect
@Arthur Swan thats kinda cool you based a cure song to write a novel as robert is a literary type who based many of his songs on literature.
this song has such a great lick.. bad ass
Robert....insieme abbiamo trascorso la mia burrascosa adolescenza!!!ed ancora adesso il mio amore x voi è grande!!!!!!!!!la tua voce è magia!!!!!!
+Emanuela Tarantino idem (:
Im wondering why i hate this album in 1996? if i really love it!
куры поют:)
This makes me think of doctor who, rose and David tennant
The Cure my favorite band since 1990! Love these guys.
18 years after it's release...is this still the weakest Cure album? I never had a problem with it. Want, This Is a Lie, Mint Car, Jupiter Crash, Treasure...all very good songs. Return, Round and Round and Round...good up beat In Between Days-ish songs. Strange Attraction is blah but the entire album, which has been labeled by many, including myself at one point, might no longer be their weakest. Bloodflowers...the third part of their trilogy, in my opinion is weaker. It has some great stuff but as a whole doesn't come close to the albums it was supposed to be connected to: Pornography and Disintegration. Performed live, much better though but I really want to love it like those other two but it's seriously nowhere close. The Cure and 4:13 Dream...both have their share of filler too but just enough good songs as WMS.
IMHO, Bloodflowers is better than WMS. Bloodflowers (last track) song is a masterpiece!
This drum pattern was originally recorded by BORIS WILLIAMS!!!
then jason just copied it for WMS...
BORIS WILLIAMS is THE BEST!
so this is jason cooper playing? just copying boris williams pattern?
@Richard O cant recreate lol tolhursts patterns? are u real, of course he cant do them note for note but not recreating them....?
@Richard O agree. Some musicians are all theory and no creativity.
@joo pie to be fair, drum is a harder instrument. I play both guitar and drums. While Reeves only contributed to one song, that solo in WN is to be reckon with and he does a good job in playing the old cure song. Jason changes drum fills which actually hurt the songs. Drummers job is to keep time and to keep out of the way by not overplaying and he puts fills where its not needed while leaving out some fills that were in the original recording. Perry was also not that bad in taking over as the lead after Pearl left. His playing was less intricate but the stripped down sound was interesting. He played with a lot of emotion, i thought. It was less otherworldly and chaotic compared to pearl's.
@Richard O um, i think most drummers can easily play drum parts that were done by Lol. Lol
@Lightmatrix
Yeah i was gonna comment that i remember what the song refers to very well and like you, i always thought it was a bit ordinary for a song idea. I do like the music, the lyrics, meh. I hadnt heard this song in maybe 15 years. I learned to play bass along cure records and i remember playing this song quite often for a while. Wonder if id remember how to play it now...
Such an under rated song, and album. This album is one I can play on continuous play. Numb is my other favourite song on the album.
Uff Numb!!!!
Mine too. Those two were my fave on the record.
such a great song en album,
a lot of great memories in 1996
Simon's climbing bass line is so f*cking great.
sharrison586 was just thinking exactly the same
I Am addicted to The Cure *_*
i started listening to the cure after i saw the music video for just like heaven on vh1 180 hours
This came out when the Shoemaker Levey Comet was crashing into Jupiter... I always thought it was a cheap idea for a song.
Loved the Cure since my days as a teen and will always loved them. I remember every tape, CD and download I purchased. Live on The Cure
One dislike... it`s clearly Morrissey.
Ashley Bouman hahahahahahahahahaha
Good one!
Great driving song........All the way to Vegas!
Bare is very nice. But I personally am not a fan of Club America as much as the rest of the album.
Mmmm...well my favorite tracks from WMS are Jupiter Crash, Round and Round and Round, and Numb.
Bloodflowers is a good album when yer in the right mood.
I agree. I didn't mean it in a bad way at all. I love the Top!
This album really is a wild mood swing...you got upbeat songs like 'Mint Car' and 'Club America'....then you have sad ones like 'Jupiter Crash' and 'Numb'....
Robert says this is his favorite Cure album, while others say it's down there with 'The Top'....I believe it's a jewel.
@Cotterized1974 could not agree more
@Misterioso Sì.
@RevengeIsTheKey No.
I remember so well the day I crashed with Jupiter <3
