Crowell, Rodney - Heartbroke Lyrics
Who wouldn't notice the fire in your eyes
Or the bitter directions of impending goodbyes
I'm fallen and folded I'm wilted in place
At the sight of you standing with streaks down your face
Heartbroke don't give up on believing in me
Heartbroke who kept me from leaving with my heartbroke
Pride is a bitch and a bore when you're lonely
Sheer madness prevails upon reason to yield
But all is not lost it is only mistaken
That's small consolation but I know just how you feel
You got your heartbroke running from the reason
Heartbroke don't give up on believing in me
Heartbroke who kept me from leaving with my heartbroke
Well, nobody said it was going to be easy
We all have our weak side that need a softer touch
But nobody said that it wouldn't be worth it
The human condition continues as such
You got your heart broke running from the reason
Heartbroke don't give up on believing in me
Heartbroke who kept me from leaving with my heartbroke

This song is so Beautiful.
Glad you enjoyed it Tom. i appreciate your listening.
Man I loved this song in 1980!! Two steppin' in NYC (yeah that's right!).
I remember this song from when I was little, but I honestly can’t remember which version used to play on my local radio station. Skaggs I guess. I know it wasn’t Strait.
❤❤❤
check out the Marshall Tucker band version
Hi Brent,
I haven't heard this one in a while. I think it's on one of my George Strait c\ds. I
don't believe I ever heard this from RC. So thanks for the share.......Carl
You're welcome Carl! It's a great song! It is cool to hear Rodney Crowell sing it. Not as good as Strait's or Skagg's versions of it, but it is a great song! Thanks for listening!
Ricky Skaggs . best version!
I like this one. Better steel guitar
This song was covered by both George Strait and Ricky Skaggs. How can such a song be bad?
Oh yeah! I forgot that George Strait did a great version of this song! Such a good tune!
Rodney Crowel was in Europe last summer (2013) and also in Paris/France. I read in country (french) magazine's the concert was great. Great week-end, Brent. (Claude -my banjo player- has translate the message about CMA Close-Up Magazines, I answer soon...)
