Crosby & Nash - Lay Me Down Lyrics

Driving out through the windmills
And some of them were still
Sometimes it's hard to catch the wind
And bend it to your will

Even though it's hard to know
Just how the story ends
The road is long and takes its time
On that you can depend

Lay me down in the river
And wash this place away
Break me down like sand from a stone
Maybe I'll be whole again one day

Lay me down, lay me down
Maybe I'll be whole again
Lay me down, lay me down
Maybe I'll be whole again

Somewhere between heaven and hell
A soul knows where it's been
I want to feel my spirit lifted up
And catch my breath again

Lay me down in the river
And wash this place away
Break me down like sand from a stone
Maybe I'll be whole again one day

Lay me down, lay me down
Maybe I'll be whole again
Lay me down, lay me down
Maybe I'll be whole again
Lay me down, lay me down
Maybe I'll be whole again one day

This song is the deepest song I ever heard in my life. I found this song in my worst days it gave me the fuel of the depression, but now with my confused my mind, it just gives me the chill. Like driving in a long road at early morning in a cloudy Friday. I will love this song and I will listen to it till the day I die!

Thanks for sharing. A few days ago we tried to help an injured fox that came to our garden, but it soon became apparent that the fox was to weak from its injuries to survive. It limped down to the beck that flows past our house where it laid down and passed away some time afterwards. I find it really sad that some would still seek to persecute and hunt these cosmic animals. Anyway. later this song by James Raymond by Crosby and Nash came into my head "Lay me down in the river, And wash this place away, Break me down like sand from a stone, Maybe I'll be whole again one day"

Thank you Malcolm for doing what you did. You are a decent compassionate human being, in stark contrast to the inbred vermin who hunt and kill these beautiful animals in the name of 'sport'. Those people would not be capable of appreciating a song so beautiful as this.

  11. S.... P....

Going to have this song play at at my death

Brilliant tune, sounds like it would have fit really well in the "Firefly/Serenity" series or movie.

Everybody go check out "Dragonfly", from The Thorns' wonderful and only album, from 2003. There were plenty of CSNY comparisons. This tune, from a year later, sounds to me like the grandmasters acknowledging the talent of the apprentices.

    M.... ....

Sounds a bit tooo much like Dragonfly
