Crosby, Bing - Please Lyrics

Oh, Please.
Lend your little ear to my pleas
Lend a ray of cheer to my pleas
Tell me that you love me too.
Please
Let me hold you tight in my arms
I could find delight in your charms
Every night my whole life through.
Your eyes reveal that you have the soul of
An angel white as snow.
How long must I play the role of
A gloomy romeo?
Oh, Please.
Say you're not intending to tease
Speed that happy ending and please
Tell me that you love me too.

[Bing whistles and da da dees]

Your eyes reveal that you have the soul of
An angel white as snow.
How long must I play the role of
A gloomy romeo?
Oh, please
Say you're not intending to tease
Speed that happy ending and please,
Tell me that you love me too.

    Honeymooners brought me here

  4. t.... s....

    What a classic 1930’s song.....

  5. R.... C....

THE RECORDING INDUSTRY AS WE KNOW IT TODAY DEVELOPED INTO SOMETHING HUGE LARGELY DUE TO HIM. SINATRA WOULDNT HAVE HAPPENED AND THATS NO INSULT TO FRANK WHO I HAVE GREAT RESPECT FOR. ITS EASY TO FORGET ALL BING ACHIEVED BUT WE SHOULDNT

  6. K.... L....

John Lennon cited this as his inspiration for Please Please Me.

  7. B.... H....

This song inspired the Beatles' John Lennon to write one of their first hits, Please, Please Me.

  8. G.... G....

    Please Please Me

  9. F.... D....

What a sentimental voice, I imagine how many women have fallen in love with this sweet song, what a time!

  10. f.... b....

    ww2 memories...

  11. R.... C....

AND I LOVE IT. MAKES ME FEEL CLOSE TO MY BELOVED DECEASED MOTHER WHO ADORED BING

  12. R.... C....

ITS TRUE LENNON DID LOVE THIS SONG.

  13. R.... C....

THE DEFINITIVE RECORD OF ITS TIME. JUST AS SHE LOVES YOU WAS OF ITS TIME

  14. i.... ....

Bing played a huge role in bringing in the use of Magnetic Reel to Reel Tape to America to replace the Direct To Disc method of making records. There was actually a highly sophisticated process in place in terms of recording to wax... like what happened after cutting the disc directly largely remained the same with a few exceptions until records were replaced with CDs. But the Magnetic Tape produced much higher resolution and fidelity... Developed by the Germans our Military guys brought the machines back and Bing was looking for a way to pre-record his radio music shows but conventionally produced records lacked that live sound... but records produced from Magnetic Tape were superior... Then of course recording with Magnetic Tape became the standard and many artists still use Analog Reel to Reel... well those who prefer it and who can afford it...

  15. B.... M....

Had this played in church for my mums funeral, it was her favourite

  16. A.... S....

John Lennon credits this song with inspiring the lyrics to 'Please Please Me.' The double use of "please / pleas" intrigued his love of word play.

  17. J.... C....

Bing Crosby first recorded this song in 1932. What a voice!

  18. J.... D....

one of my favourites by Bing.

    J.... D....

    Jean Dipillo v

  19. R.... F....

He was their hero, Frank, Dino... Al Martino. He was just older and somewhat square because he broke with Paul Paul Whiteman in 1924!

  20. R.... F....

Well, what can I say. I've got it on Camden, a CBS label Lp. The sound is amazing. Why can't all vinyl sound as good as this.

  21. f.... s....

I love this so much omg

  22. J.... F....

    Fantastisch

  23. J.... D....

love this man. never see or hear any thing even close again .

    J.... D....

Total change in fashion now. They've lost the art of compiosing and these kind of singers, who actually have a voice.

  24. f.... ....

Bing was king! This song sounds so ahead of its time, everything from the Weeks Orchestra's performance, to Bing's smooth voice and incredible whistling is splendid to hear :)

    f.... ....

Frycook48 was not king he was terrible he sound's like crap and hes voice sounded like a gay german man hes voice was absolutly terrible and a disgrace and hes whistling is absolutely terrifying.

    f.... ....

Damn Kirsten.. maybe you need to get fucked, cuz you're one up-tight broad!

    f.... ....

Seeing he was one of the top stars for all of his fifty years in the business, yes he was the king. Conquered all mediums including radio, movies (both dramatic and comedy), tv and of course the music industry and performed to sold out audiences in concert while in his 70's, not very many stars could boast a resume such as this.

  25. M.... W....

The guitarist is probably Eddie Lang who often played with Joe Venuti. This is an amazing recording because it is mostly instrumental. The guitar is the best part of it. Strumming and picking in the background. This orchestration is one of the great musical achievements of all time!

    M.... W....

You'd be right! And Joe would be on that session too!

    M.... W....

Joe and Eddy led the way for Stefan and Django!

  26. H.... ....

    Guitarist?

    H.... ....

+Hexspa The guitarist was Eddie Lang, a close friend of Bing.

  27. R.... P....

Incredible, Bing Crosby is getting better.

    R.... P....

    Reato is not getting better

    R.... P....

He was already the best, he was phenomenal.

  28. J.... H....

I love this man singing. He makes it sound so simple. I would love to sing like him. I have CDs of him. I think out of all the old singers my favorite two are Bing Crosby and Judy Garland. I like the other old singers but Bing and Judy are out of this world. I would love to been around when they were around so I could have seen them live

  29. S.... K....

I love all the comments about Bing, 83 years after this song charted.....I can see if someone is that great/influential, he/she will never be forgotten..BTW, Bing was the best whistler, hands down....dogs prob followed him everywhere..lol

    S.... K....

+Scott Kuzminski He was part bird.

    S.... K....

Cats, too. I would have if I'd been there.

  30. S.... S....

This song inspired John Lennon to write "Please, Please me".  Just your little trivia for the day.

    S.... S....

    I dunno about that!

    S.... S....

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Please_Please_Me_(song) "Lennon first conceived "Please Please Me" as a bluesy, slow tempo song.
Lennon recalled: "I remember the day I wrote it, I heard Roy Orbison doing "Only the Lonely", or something. And I was also always intrigued by the words to a Bing Crosby
song that went, 'Please lend a little ear to my pleas'. The double use
of the word 'please'. So it was a combination of Roy Orbison and Bing
    Crosby".[7]" Now you know.

    S.... S....

"Before Elvis there was nothing".........John Lennon

    S.... S....

    Absolutely true.............

  31. J.... C....

He could whistle like Elmer Tanno.  Now tell me that Elmer could sing like him........please !!

    J.... C....

    Really, Bing could whistle.

    J.... C....

    Ray Francis and

  32. J.... C....

Strange how your memory can be awakened.  But when I now hear this song for the first  time since high school (1948) , I think of my classmate Vinny Munro. Even though a teenager he could do a great imitation of the 1920's Der Bingle  singing this song.  Such a pleasant memory

  33. S.... N....

Curiosity about the use of polyptoton brought me here :)

  34. m.... ....

Me too! I've been looking for this song ever since John mentioned it in the Beatles Anthology.

  35. K.... B....

    Have always appreciated this classic

  36. V.... N....

too bad he died in 1977

  37. J.... B....

I can hear Eddie on guitar breaks in the background. What a great team. :)

  38. m.... ....

Truly Amazing!!! Such a talent!! Strange to think today's heartthrobs are so talentless and will not stand the test of time. 80 years from now, no one will be tripping off how wonderful Bieber or whoever the flavor of the month was.. Justin WHO?!! No comparison!

  39. F.... G....

I have a copy of this that says he's accompanied by Isham Jones & His Orchestra. I wonder who has the right orchestra but no matter because it is a wonderful tune.

  40. J.... D....

    Philadelphia choir

  41. p.... ....

    me too! Please Please Me....

  42. Z.... C....

    John Lennon brought me here.

  43. m.... ....

That is so perfect and sexy, it's silly! NOTHING like t today, or since!!

  44. o.... ....

Thank you for posting this beautiful song from an era past. This is my favourite Bing recording and I only wish I could whistle as wonderfully as Bing could.

  45. E.... m....

I feel very relaxed listening to Bing singing Please.

  46. m.... ....

This song is SO SEXY and wonderful!! Bing's voice is so nuanced and controlled with such marvelous timber and tone! There was no other pop singer like him. His 1930's tracks are without comparison.

  47. Z.... C....

    @Elefantitomental watch this at 3 minutes Beatles Anthology (8/8) - Part 1

  48. Z.... C....

@Elefantitomental sorry my spanish is bad. you want to know what?

  49. Z.... C....

John Lennon got inspiration from this song when he wrote Please Please Me in The Beatles

  50. N.... ....

This guy was the real deal. Everyone else is interpretation. Sinatra, Ray Eberly, Dino, Tony Bennett, Tony Martin, Vic Damone, Dick Powell, Nelson Eddie, Barry Manilow, Harry Connick Jnr & Michael Bublé all owe a debt to this guy and rightfully so.

  51. J.... C....

oohhh yes!! my dad sang this so much!!

  52. A.... P....

    This is my favourite song.

  53. S.... C....

Irish singers have a wealth of wonderful ancestral backing, take away the Irish and celtic music, and we'd only have ti invent it again! LOL! The jigs and the celtic classice,, and "When the Blue of the night, meets the gold of the day, Bing just gets me sobbing with that one! WOW!! But Sinatra, he's NO slouch at all, and spawned many clones, more than Bing ever did! That says something about "Ole Blue Eyes!"

    S.... C....

Maybe because Bing was so talented and unique that he couldn't be imitated. But Bing was the idol of many of the singers that followed.

  54. S.... ....

    @TheCrooner777
Oh, don't get me wrong! I'm second to none in admiration of Frank Sinatra. In fact I have all of the TD/FS recordings, and a great deal of the Harry James/Sinatra sides as well. As a storyteller, he is second to none. My only point was that Bing was the trailblazer. At any rate, it's like choosing between steak and lobster--they're both great--and good together, as their "Well, Did You Evah" duet from "High Society" and their numerous other appearances together will attest.

  55. T.... F....

    @SheridanJazz

I agree... But you gotta listen to Frank in his Harry James/ Tommy Dorsey days as a young man.

Bing has feeling in his music and I am a huge fan but you gotta hear how Frank sings a song like a storyteller how much feeling he brings into his music even to his prime years... You are right though about Frank if it wasn't for Bing their would be no Frank really...

  56. S.... ....

    @tweetybird1937
Give Frank his due--he was one of a kind. But without Crosby, there would be no Frank Sinatra. Bing did it all first, and left nothing undone. A true giant.

  57. M.... ....

My mothers, and aunt's favorite Bing song, but they loved everything he sang, amend too.

  58. K.... 7....

^ ^ I'm like this guys 7th cousin or something. My mom explained it to me. Pretty amazing that I am related to him. He's got such a smooth voice! :D

  59. R.... G....

Love the Bing a great voice but are you all not forgetting the same exact voice of Russ Columbo?

  60. P.... H....

The definitive version of this song. Bing owns it, and what a wonderful career he had. Deservedly so, because he had talent - could even whistle as this song shows!!

  61. G.... ....

John Lennon said that this song, Bing Crosby's Please, and Roy Orbison's Only The Lonely influenced The Beatles' song Please Please Me.

  62. B.... ....

@tweetybird1937 You ask people now, "You know BING?!" Their reply "uh...no". What a shame...HE was the greatest pop star of the 20th century no question. He held is popularity so long by adapting and his voice was far superior to Sinatra's (still admire Sinatra.)

  63. ~.... ....

What year did he make this song?

  64. M.... ....

Probably my favourite song of his. It suits his voice like a glove. Great song. Love the band too. They sound late 30s/40s.

    Love and kisses

    David

  65. l.... ....

Great! Who is on guitar? Is it Eddie Lang?

  66. B.... ....

    @BigBandHeaven Sure is

  67. m.... ....

My friend asked me to transcribe this for him

  68. J.... R....

This song I can remember from my past life. Ment something meaniful for me and someone I can't remember years ago.

  69. S.... H....

    Rip Micheal Jackson

  70. S.... H....

I Have Almost Every Bing Brunswick & Victor Looking For Unissued Brunswick " How The Time Can Fly" I Love This!! Thanks For Posting.

  73. v.... ....

Agreed. I thought rights claims were less likely the older the song was, and that if they claimed one they claimed every other one by that artist...would prefer that the original 1934 version be on here, but...

  74. v.... ....

Bing1903, thank you for all the great postings, but what happened to the posting of "Love In Bloom"? It's gone, or seems to be.

  75. C.... ....

All your Bing postings are superb. His was an amazing talent.
Thanks again for your wonderful postings.

  76. b.... ....

It was my father's favorite song by Bing Crosby.

  77. A.... M....

I think you're right. I must have been mixing up Please with May I? Or whichever tune Aaronson backed.

  78. A.... M....

My favourite Crosby too. By a long long way. I always had the idea that Irving Aaronson's credit was on the English Columbia release. Was it their mistake, or my memory playing tricks?
