Cribs, The - Come On, Be A No-One Lyrics

Come on I'll be a no one
For you

Got you wrong, it's not your fault
Sometimes I'd rather feel cheap
You can't keep suckling me
I was trying so hard to enjoy everything
That I ended up enjoying nothing

Seriously, I'm really well fed
I know previously you needed me like a hole in the head

Come on, I'll be a no-one
For you
Stay home and write a song
For you

Like a shooting star, or a change of heart
I'm something that you rarely see
Smell the lilies on me
Roadside, covered in flies
And caustic soda
We're giving off the same odour

Seriously, I'm really well fed
I know previously you needed me like a hole in the head

Come on, I'll be a no-one
For you
Stay home and write a song
For you

  3. K.... L....

    Fantastic!

  4. V.... D....

turning 54 this year, come back to this every 3 months lived through heavy metal, punk, grunge, house and bad disco I love these guys

  5. f.... m....

I'm completely terrified when I poke around and I figured out that the actual bands don't truly deserve a listen, because of their ambiguous manners and their mainstream approach which ruins and warps the sound all the way through. I foster the success of the inspired bands, those who put faith and respect in music and whose tunes are totally based on contained methods of stirring rock with electronic music. Finding a band with talent and devotion is a hard work as many artists relate to the preferences of commercial stations without taking heed of originality or personality. Getting along with teenagers doesn't grant you a mature audience, the crowd doesn't necessarily represent what your music should convey, hence your decision not to be a no one. You don't reckon that being natural can provoke a good balance and the expected breakthrough for your career, you often forget that keeping on your own style makes your sound interesting and it immediately staves off the worthless listeners! Being assessed as a specific band and being considered unique or irreplaceable mean so much.

  6. R.... Y....

Most consistently good band to come out of the UK in the past 15 years or so. Their entire back catalogue is excellent. Very overlooked.

  7. p.... D....

    Nice....

  8. G.... S....

I can't stop listening to this song.  This may be the only band playing actual rock anymore.

  9. D.... H....

Does anyone else here The Replacements?  Love this band

  10. I.... G....

The feeling that there is still hope for the genre :')

  11. A.... ....

I'm pretty sure this album was produced by the same guy who did nirvana's Nevermind. Which is just fucking class and so are the cribs. Try searching
The Stumble and Shake - Oh my darling, Oh my dear (Earthquake Version)
you may be in for a surprise!

    A.... ....

Nah it wasn't Vig, it was a guy called Steve Albini who produced it.

    A.... ....

almost, the producer was Albini, who did the initial production work for In utero

    A.... ....

+sam frame no, it was actually David Fridmann. Albini produced just one track - Chi-Town.

    A.... ....

Yep. Fridmann can literally make anyone sound great, the guy is a fucking wizard. Not that they need that, The Cribs are excellent anyway.

  12. A.... S....

Great sound ! If you like Indie music and find underground artist, I suggest you to discover a new one by writing *"Niko Laetailleurs"* in the you tube search bar. Perhaps, you'll find some good vibrations...

  13. S.... B....

    Needs more views.

    S.... B....

  21. m.... l....

Amazing band! By the way lads, if you like The Cribs, you should check that band out. Just search:
"Drift Disorder - Haven't You Ever Been Here?". You could be surprised!

  22. m.... ....

The verse guitar sounds like nirvana love this song

  23. V.... R....

    bowl haircut :D

  24. J.... ....

As one of the best guitarists in music history it is quite funny. I think Ignore the Ignorant was a decent album but different from this kinda stuff which I prefer, like I prefer Johnny Marr in other stuff that isnt the Cribs and Modest Mouse

  25. P.... ....

CHECK US OUT AND SUBSCRIBE PLEASE, SCOTTISH INDIE/ROCK 'N' ROLL BAND!

  26. s.... ....

really, duck him who wastes ducks

  27. H.... ....

Hahahaha. Like you two, I find it amusing to the point where I wonder if he's joking. Calling Johnny 'The Modest Mouse Guitarist' is like calling Robert DeNiro 'The guy who was in Meet the Parents'. I also disagree massively. I loved the Cribs Marr album as well as all their other stuff. This is very Nirvana-esque in parts, and I like it.

  28. 3.... ....

I just heard this song... And I must say... I FUCKING LOVE IT!

  29. a.... ....

worst haircut since Javier Bardem in No country for old men

  30. O.... I....

it sounds like the cribs have been playing with matt sharpe for the last few years rather than johnny marr. sounds fucking awesome.

  54. r.... ....

nice tune. think ill go see em in chapel hill.

  55. A.... L....

I thought they were gonna be some shitty NME band but they're actually really good.

  56. S.... ....

Dee Dee Ramone haircut, cool. Nirvana guitar.

  57. f.... ....

you really shouldn't give ducks. cause ducks are really special.

  58. r.... ....

Vintage Cribs is back! This is the brilliant raw sound they had with the first two records.

  59. m.... ....

  68. Q.... S....

i was just asking keep cool ;)

  69. m.... ....

damn awesome!! i like johnny marr but the original cribs is waaaayyy better!
cant wait for the new album out!

  70. C.... ....

    Quality stuff.

  71. m.... ....

    nice karen-o-cut there ryan.

  72. T.... D....

the have only gone and done it again...

  73. M.... ....

Yes there is something sincere about them which strikes an affinity with us fans. The first two records were pretty lo-fi in terms of production value but they did it the hard way, and the third record kinda took me by surprise at how shiny it sounded. It still suited them though, which is most important, and it's the record that garnered the most attention. I didn't like the fourth record but that's just my view, I thought it was a bit murky and clunky.

  74. J.... S....

There's a lot of comments about these new Cribs songs saying "they are better when they are shit" their sound is honest it was before Ignore the Ignorant and it is now. They aren't just a shit scarppy band they are very well produced and always have been. To say their sound is shit but good doesn't make sense...

  75. C.... T....

    Fucking amazing

  76. l.... ....

check out my explanation above. It's pure speculation. I am on spring break and with a decent amount of time in my hands. And I love the Cribs. :)

  77. l.... ....

I got nothing against Marr. He made a decent contribution but nothing that spectacular imo. The "new" sound which sounds like the better "old" sound (at least for me) before Marr, I welcome.

  78. l.... ....

"we need you like a hole in the head". now that's some serious insult. Lol.
Then, Ryan says, I'd rather be a no one. A new way (newer way than before, the previous album (?) ) and then play the greatest songs. (Many of the lyrics on the internet says "sorrow". I don't hear that at all and I think, it's "songs."
What really made me suspicious was the phrase "Shooting star, change of heart". That was what made me think. Star = Marr. Change of heart = Marr is gone.
    Again, this is pure speculation.

  79. l.... ....

I wonder if this song is about the Jarman brothers specifically Ryan against Marr. The lyrics sound a bit more cryptic yet personal in a way. I sort of wrote some of the lyrics here in the comment section (I found most of the internet lyrics downright stupid. I think mine are mostly accurate. "New Way" almost sounds like "You wait" sometimes though.)
Got you wrong means the Jarmans thought of Marr as someone else but they don't have anything against their misconception. It's nobody's fault.

  80. l.... ....

    Shooting star, change of heart.
    Something that you rarely see.
    Smell the lilies on me.
    Yeah.
    Road side, color inclined
That caustic sodium giving off the same odor.
    Serious we are really well.
    Said I'm serious.
We need you like a hole in the head.
Come on, I'll be a no one.
    New way.
    Play all the greatest songs.
    New way.
    New way.

  81. l.... ....

I think these lyrics are almost right, still iffy about a couple of sentences:

The Cribs - Come on, be a no one
Come on, I'll be a no one.
    New way.
Got you wrong, it's not your fault.
Sometimes I'd rather be a cheat.
    You can't keep circling me.
So, I'm trying so hard to enjoy every minute.
    I ended up enjoying nothing.
    Serious we are really well.
    Said I'm serious.
We need you like a hole in the head.
But come on, I'll be a no one.
    New way.
    Play all the greatest songs.
    New way.

  82. A.... V....

what does the song mean ??

  83. l.... ....

    But does it even matter.

    Come on, be a noone.
    :D

  84. A.... R....

Holy crap. I'm listening to the song on Sirius XMU and I got on youtube to favortie this song, and the main chorus is matched perfectly :)

  85. T.... ....

great song, cool video, three thumbs up!

  86. i.... ....

    Which helmet?

  87. f.... ....

The Liquid Room in Edinburgh, fantastic venue with one of the best PA systems in the UK for its size, which made the show fairly intimate.

  88. N.... H....

Can anyone explain this vid to me please? It contains so many shots of brighton, which is where I saw them, but then cuts to loads of stage shots from an entirely different venue. Where was the venue shown?

BTW Anyone going to Eastbourne on the 13th May?!!?!?
