in 1977 four us rented a big house and at all of our parties before it was over this song came on and everybody is up dancing! I love little Richards but I am sorry,the guitar in this just rocks!

Lets give the other musicians some credit here, Stu Cook was a great bass player and Doug Clifford was one of the best drummers around and Tom Fogerty kept the rhythm flowing along nicely.

Question for english native speakers, can you understand what is he singing without read the lyrcs? I mean, I study english but I can't catch a word in parts like " if it's a nineteen carat golden thing." or " have to watch my dad myself"

Because of the Political environment they were in. The record company's and Radio thought the Band was to neutral about the Vietnam war. In Fact most of their songs were about the Soldiers not the Politics, But Their Music is considered the Music of their Generation. Not Many Groups or Artist have that honor.

John Fogerty signed away all the rights to his music early on. He had to fight for decades to get it back. Marc Maron's podcast with him tells the story.

CCR covered the song on their second studio album, 'Bayou Country' it was track two of side two and the album reached #7 on Billboard's Top 200 Albums chart {#1 in France}...
One track from the album, "Proud May"*, reached #2 for three weeks on Billboard's Hot Top 100 Singles chart...
Tom Fogerty passed away on September 6th, 1990 at the young age of 48...
May he R.I.P.
* The quartet also performed "Proud Mary" on the same 'Sullivan' show...

@jaa jaadiman It does but this wasn't written about the drug. Molly came around as street name for MDMA in the 90s. This song actually came out in 1958 because this song was originally sung by Little Richard. CCR redid the song in 1969. Little too far off in era to be singing about the drug.
