Cream - I'm So Glad Lyrics

I'm so glad, I'm so glad
I'm glad, I'm glad, I'm glad
I'm so glad, I'm so glad
I'm glad, I'm glad, I'm glad

I don't know what to do, I don't know what to do, I don't know what to do
I'm tired of weeping, I'm tired of moaning, I'm tired of crying for you

I'm so glad, I'm so glad
I'm glad, I'm glad, I'm glad
I'm so glad, I'm so glad
I'm glad, I'm glad, I'm glad

I'm tired of weeping, I'm tired of moaning, I'm tired of groaning for you
I don't know what to do, I don't know what to do, I don't know what to do

I'm so glad, I'm so glad
I'm glad, I'm glad, I'm glad
I'm so glad, I'm so glad
I'm glad, I'm glad, I'm glad

[Chorus repeated 5 times]

Cream I'm So Glad Comments

I have always loved this song covered by Cream. That solo by Clapton, to me, is just so smooth and cool. I play guitar and will never be much more than an intermediate level player. I would give anything to be able to play that one solo. All three of these men are in the top five best at what they did. Man, did we have great music in the sixties. Great Soul, great Rock and great Country.

This has always been one of my favourite tracks of all time , certainly the most played by me . There is something about the solo and how Eric ,Jack and Ginger combine . It drives forward , very spare without the excess of later stuff ..

    2019
Can anyone suggest a JAZZ or
    BLUES band (preferably a TRIO)
    where the bass guitar and
the drums are more prominent or
    pronounced than the other
    instruments? The rhythm of the
    bass and drums are transcendent.
    Thank you.

    P.S. This band is life-changing.
    Peace to all.

    T.... C....

Agreed, the only comparable brilliance is 'Live at Leeds' by The Who.

Listen to Skip Janes original Paramount recording https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MTDQrgb7nhE and you will realize that this is a minor performance compared to the demonic and utter extreme performance James carried out. Professional musicians I have played James 1931 cut have thought at first there were 2 and 1 three musicians on it, and one guitarist told me he thought James must have used a 12 string guitar, but he was just using the junky house guitar in the Paramount studios in 1931. No disrespect to Eric and Ginger and to this album which was a classic, but I once wrote James classic 1931 recording for Paramount make Robert Johnson sound like easy listening music

    T.... T....

In the 30s James made his money pimping, bootlegging for plantation owners, running a juke house, etc. He disdained the poverty and insecurity of a traveling blues artist when he had greater financial security. He never was interested in the popular dancing and romancing music someone like Bill Broonzy specialized, or even the hipness and grace Robert Johnson celebrated. He put an intensity of expression and over the top musical capacity into this and most of his other performances that emerge as art.

    T.... T....

Incredibly Skip James created this song based on the riffs and ideas of the soppy romantic ballad "I'm So Tired" made famous by Gene Austin, more suited for a country club singer in a white dinner jacket.

  64. B.... W....

One of the best and one of my personal favorite Cream tracks of all time

  65. R.... F....

If I'm not mistaken I think he's glad.

  66. B.... h....

Glad i was born in the generation that lets me use technology to listen to whatever Cream song i want :) Best band ever.

  67. P.... R....

I listen to Cream and particularly this song, and my eyes well up in the memories of our time then and that stinkin' war. I'm so glad I was a growing teen in those days.......our music meant something.

  68. J.... V....

I'm telling ya, God was looking down on us all, when he put these three together! Arguably the three greatest instrumentalists at their respective positions, with the uncomparable Mr. Jack Bruce on vocals! Cream you guys made us all GLAD!!🎸😎🎸

  69. V.... V....

    Mmmm here are drugs

  70. T.... R....

Man if only Clapton would have stayed with Gibson

Here is the original Blues Song from 1931

  75. J.... D....

Myl popular music education is extensive from early 50's Chicago Blues to mid 70's prog rock, and everything in between. I've said it a 100 times to my fellow Rock aficionado brethren "when it comes to Rock 'n Roll, after Cream and Hendrix, it was all downhill" I don't mean it went sh!t, but that was the pinnacle; the top of the mountain

  76. B.... W....

My personal favorite Cream song of all time

    B.... W....

    Why it's horrible

  77. R.... D....

#1 Power rock trio Jimi Hendrix Experience , #2 Cream , then the rest !!!

  78. L.... x....

One direction’s story of my life sounds like the beginning strings

  79. N.... I....

    Quanto tempo.... Fantastic song!

  80. A.... ....

Sounds like they cribbed the guitar intro from I've Had It ...

  81. O.... A....

This plays at work sometimes and it's one of the most monotonous and insipid songs on the overhead.

    O.... A....

thanks for coming and sharing your knucklehead job angst.... maybe if you asked, they'd play more Boston or Kansas (putz)

  82. g.... ....

Every now and then I just got to come here and get my fix and listen to this great tune taken from oh wonderful Blues musician whose name I can't recall right now and I feel bad about that because he deserves a lot of recognition

    g.... ....

His name was Skip James. Great song.

    g.... ....

@jeff silverman Right , thank you , Skip James ! ...and he ended up north in the Philadelphia area where I'm from . I heard he's buried in a cemetery up that way on the Mainline ; too bad I never knew that when I lived up North... When I go home I'm going to visit his grave and thank him for some incredible tunes . Respect .
Also I really like your name... is that sort of a play on words ?...instead of 'nigga please '..?

    g.... ....

@gardensofthegods You crack me up, but no, its just the name I was born with.

  83. c.... ....

    Clapton is God

  84. M.... _....

Always liked the real version of this. They covered Skip James like a genius. They don't cover their own version - at Royal Hall - as well.
The rhythm is neat as a pin. The drums rolling off - like the limo door opening for you to get into my big black car. Then the leads electrify Skip Jsme's little ole box 🎸 guitar like a firehouse an elephant spraying off a charging think as a Lion chooses game impala or gazelle. Then back to the fact that Skip has the blues for you.😯

  85. b.... ....

I'm 'So Glad' they never used this song in a Glad plastic baggie commercial.. That would have made me Mad.

  86. s.... k....

if you want to hear some more reasons why for so many of us Cream occupy the pinnacle, be sure and check out the October 19 Los Angeles (with the astounding live version of "I'm So Glad" that's on the 'Goodbye' album), October 20 San Diego, and October 26 Royal Albert Hall shows from their 1968 farewell tour (available on Youtube), along with the two 'Live Cream' albums - EPIC PERFORMANCES - Baker is the real 'Hammer of the Gods'!

The Greatest tragedy of the sixties - The breakup of Cream in 1968. Eric Clapton's best Guitar work ever. It is really a shame that Eric freaked out over Jimi Hendrix coming on the scene and completely gave up his role as a virtuoso lead guitarist. It is sad that he switched over to being more of a top 40 song writer & left behind the days of 20 minute guitar solo's. Yes, Jimi was from another planet, but Eric's work with Cream was amazing, incredible stuff & he should have stayed true to himself & continued as a guitar virtuoso & playing 20 minute solo's with Jack Bruce for many years !!!!!
