Crass - Bata Motel Lyrics

"Little girls, of about six or seven, were asked what do they like to do. And then sometime later the same question asked in a slightly different form; they were asked what do little girls like to do."

I've got 54321,
I've got a red pair of high-heels on,
Tumble me over, it doesn't take much,
Tumble me over, tumble me, push.
In my red high-heels I've no control,
The rituals of repression are so old,
You can do what you like, there'll be no reprisal,
I'm yours, yes I'm yours, it's my means of survival.

I've got 54321,
Come on my love, I know you're strong,
Push me hard, make me stagger,
The pain in my back just doesn't matter.
You force-hold me above the ground,
I can't get away, my feet are bound,
So I'm bound to say,
That I'm bound to stay.

Well today I look so good,
Just like I know I should,
My breasts to tempt inside my bra,
My face is painted like a movie star,
I've studied my flaws in your reflection
And put them to rights with savage correction,
I've turned my statuesque perfection
And shone it over in your direction.
So come on darling, make me yours,
Trip me over, show me the floor,
Tease me, tease me, make me stay,
In my red high-heels I can't get away.
I'm trussed and bound like an oven ready bird
But I bleed without dying and won't say a word.
Slice my flesh and I'll ride the scar,
Put me into gear like your lady car,
Drive me fast and crash me crazy,
I'll rise from the wreckage as fresh as a daisy.
These wounds leave furrows as they heal,
I've travelled them, they're red and real,
I know them well, they're part of me,
My birth, my sex, my history,
They grew with me, my closest friend,
My pain's my own, my pain's my end.
Clip my wings so you know where I am.
I can't get lost while you're my man.
Tame me so I know your call,
I've stabbed my heels so I am tall,
I've bound my twisted falling fall,
Beautiful mute against the wall,
Beautifully mutilated as I fall.
Use me don't lose me.

I've got 54321,
I've got a red pair of high-heels on.
Strap my ankles, break my heels,
Make me kneel, make me feel.
Turn, turn, turn, like a clockwork doll,
Put in your key and give me a whirl.
Tease me, tease me, the reason to play,
In my red high-heels I can't get away.
I'll be your bonsai, your beautiful bonsai,
Your black-eye bonsai, erotically rotting.
Will my tiny feet fit your desire?
Warped and tied I walk on fire.
Burn me out, twist my wrists,
I promise not to shout, beat me with your fists.
Squeeze me, squeeze me, make me feel,
In my red high-heels I'm an easy kill.
Tease me, tease me, make me see,
You're the only one, I need to be me.
Thank you, will you take me?
Thank you, will you make me?
Thank you, will you break me?
Use me don't lose me,
Taste me, don't waste me.
Use, lose, taste, waste.

  6. S.... B....

One of the best albums ever. Period. Brings back so many fond memories of being a punk, including dancing, and well...so many memories.....there were also sad times, like a lady i knew who killed herself over some guy she knew in a band. She was a total class act.lady to me, and found out he wss cheating on her from almost thr beginning.

    S.... B....

    PERIODDDDTTTTT LOP

Great song! and to western feminists (both genders!) what the fuck do you want? go to places where feminism is really needed like Iran or Saudi Arabia and don t see you protesting against female genital mutilation? Western feminist have no better things to do, realize that some men are fucking pigs but women remember, there are also women who are cunts...generalizing a gender is well feminism= male cahauvinism! so fuck off both :) in the West ofc ;) Cheers to all the good people and pc cunts fuck off :)

  8. D.... G....

I got this album when it came out. I don't give a shit if Kurt Cobain listened to it.

  9. K.... T....

My pain is my own, my pain is end

  10. W.... W....

Grew up with these tunes still as relevant now as it was then

  11. G.... S....

I don’t think much people understand the importance of this song to punk rock and women rights and this was before all the feminist and those idiots who just say I stand up for women rights but they just say that to be with the trend and seem like a good person

  12. P.... S....

    Eradicate patriarchy

Thanks Kurt for introducing me to My favourite punk song and also punk music in general

  14. O.... N....

    Still a banger in 2019

  15. F.... O....

This song describes a woman being tortured by a perverted man... and liking it, that sick fuck.

    Sooo sexist.

  16. S.... L....

    FIVE FOUR THREE TWO ONE

  17. S.... B....

    This is painfully real.

  18. E.... t....

    nirvana is better

    E.... t....

and brown bread is better than white, what's your fucking point?

    E.... t....

I like nirvana but that's like comparing apples and oranges sure there both fruits but there definitely different.

  19. S.... S....

Flawless. I sing to this song all the time, know all the lyrics. I first heard it when I was 16 , and right now I’m time it is very relevant. “I’ll be your bonsai your beautiful bonsai your black eyed bonsai erotically rotting” means he will trim/whip her into shape.
I heard someone say it was satire, and that really upset me. It is not satire. Punk carried the message where the hippies failed. and now antifa in Mexico and the Americas wear black.

  20. S.... s....

''I've studied my flaws in your reflection'' that's so good

  21. J.... B....

  23. j.... ....

For some weird reason I've always pronounced this in my mind like "bayta" motel, but I just realized it's probably pronounced like "bahta" motel, correct?

    j.... ....

    jevicci oh fucc :OOO
    Same

  24. I.... S....

guys it doesnt matter how old this tune is its proper thinking people punk

  25. H.... S....

    kurt cobain

    H.... S....

    Eu sou o Jara yes

    H.... S....

    Eu sou o Jara same

    H.... S....

    Wut? m8?

  26. r.... d....

This song combines feminism with sadomasochism. Its hot and disturbing.

  27. G.... T....

I play this at least once a day in the workshop lol

  28. B.... ....

What to say? Says it all.

  29. B.... H....

Joy or Eve (I dunno- I like Crass but I'm not particularly a fan), they've clearly thought A LOT about this stuff; and obviously I know what 'the message' is- but I can't help wondering is this literally a case of 'the lady doth protest too much'? Bit of an S&M fantasy maybe? Of course with 50 shades of bullshit and all that, if I'm right then they'd be the height of trendy nowadays... reckon that'd REALLY kill 'em

    B.... H....

I just 'disliked' my own comment and I don't know how to undo it except by being one of those twats that 'like' their own comments! Oh well, join in youse might as well, I probably have it coming for that use of the 'T' word...

    B.... H....

Barry Holt Pretty amusing how women's objectification is sexualised by men and seen as a fantasy. Even their rejection of objectification is sexualised and seen as such

    B.... H....

Asking for it, if only subconsciously? No means yes please? I'm sure you're decent, but don't risk stupidity in a blind rush for profundity.

  30. T.... S....

I thought it was a gay guy singing, then found out it was a woman. May've been hardcore then, would've been more hard core if it was otherwise.

    T.... S....

Toufic Sarieddine No, it wouldn't have more hardcore if it was sung by a man. It's fine just the way it is and doesn't apply in any way to gay men. Would've lost its spark tbh

    T.... S....

Wow I thought it was a squeaky voiced man

    T.... S....

Actually you're right and wrong in crass there was 4 singers 1 male and 3 womans, and in the "i got 5 4 3 2 1" the male is singing.

    T.... S....

Yeah it would of been gay because the stuff like 'thank you would you take me' is gay..

  31. R.... J....

One of the songs that inspired Kurt Cobain and got him hooked on Punk music

    R.... J....

Reece Johnstone I don't believe that. Apparently everything inspired him. From every genre and I find that to be a load of shit.

    R.... J....

it's almost like you don't realize how big this band was in the 80's. Crass even influenced Courtney Love and all of the Riot Grrl bands. Crass influenced a lot of musicians.@Tangy Orange

    R.... J....

Fenix Lolnope yeah but I think it’s funny because it seems like every little thing inspired Kurt which I believe is bs. For example, I’ve read that Bathory influenced him and it didn’t. I don’t hear any Bathory in their music.

    R.... J....

@Tangy Orange Everything inspires me! Well, if it's inspiring... What it inspires us to do or think, who can say?

    R.... J....

Melissa Denby see that’s thing when somebody is influenced by something, either by music or lyrics or whatever they take that into account and take that influence and make it their own. Nirvana or Kurt didn’t. They are the most overrated band I’ve ever come to know. Kurt is overrated as well.

  32. F.... M....

amazing post punk song! the more they changed their style in 1980, the better music written by them!!!

    F.... M....

Read their books it shows all their changing minds

  33. D.... H....

    Brilliant!!!!!

  34. G.... A....

I love crass its my favorite band

    G.... A....

    normie poser

    G.... A....

Zequal what? why do you think they are a poser?

    G.... A....

    U fucking poser.

  35. 7.... ....

This is one of the most important songs for the spirit of punk rock and alt rock for women.
    Protest! we're not there yet...

    7.... ....

@dylan newton what? you don't respect my opinion because I hold different political beliefs to you? I don't see how my other political beliefs are all that relevant in regards to this specific subject. Good to hear you've changed your mind though.

    7.... ....

@dylan newton you're an anfem and you have a problem with ancoms?

    7.... ....

Bread and Black yes, most ancoms are social authoritarians. I personally identify as some sorta weird anti civ nihilist anarchist. Also the not respecting comment wasn't 100% serious

    7.... ....

@dylan newton surely neat little boxes aside anarchy and freedom are our shared desire? The difference between the labels (or roles - the irony) we assign ourselves are semantic differences.

    7.... ....

    @bikerscout2012 fuck off

  36. A.... W....

    What does Bata mean?

    A.... W....

i think it's probably a reference to the Bata footwear and accessory manufacturer.

    A.... W....

I kind of read it as "buy and throw away" as in once a woman is past her prime men just throw her away and get another.

    A.... W....

Alison Whitehouse7 I mean..in Filipino it means child.I don't want to think about pedophilia rn tho

    A.... W....

Bata is a brand of female produce shoes, dresses etc ....do ya understand the lyrics a bit better now

    A.... W....

I think it's supposed to be a pun on 'Bates Motel' from Psycho as well, right?

  37. 7.... ....

I've studied my flaws in your reflection...

  38. w.... ....

Ah, part of me wants to think this isn't satire and conservative values are sounding pretty good...

    w.... ....

+wiseowlstation Motherhood and being a woman is not about being raped abused and used like a tool.

    w.... ....

How? The whole point of this is showing just how bad a lot of women (and men to some extent) are being treated, and how it is simply regarded as common and in no need for a change. A pay cut, groping, even physical intimidation is regarded as common that's some of the things women face, and this song was putting it to light.

    w.... ....

    what the hell dude

    w.... ....

What the hell is that supposed to mean?

  39. _.... g....

    fantastic lyrics here. Love it.

  40. P.... ....

    brilliant song and lyrics!

  41. T.... T....

lyrics are amazing!!! BUT. I wish the singer was a little less crazy/silly and MUCH more serious/slower paced

    T.... T....

Tnavres Tsihcosam I feel like this was done to show that women are taking inequality/abuse like its nothing, or like they should take it and still be "happy" and look "perfect." In the song she always blamed the problems caused on herself not the man.

    T.... T....

I know it's a four year old comment, but it really amazes me that nobody complains about Steve Ignorant's sounding like he's trying to sing around a mouthful of lager and half-chewed turd but whines about Eve Libertine's razor-blade diction and pitch. I think some guys just clutch their scrotums in panic when they hear an uppity woman singing "punk." Buncha closet cases.

    T.... T....

jackal59 - lmao I agree completely, I love eve's delivery on this song, having her deliver it any differently would alter the song too much, it's perfect. Although I love Steve's delivery, on songs like M.A.N, it's what makes it nasty and vile, really inspired bands like Pissed Jeans and the Jesus Lizard.

    T.... T....

Well it's punk so her vocal delivery suits it. If she were to sing less "crazy/silly" (lol!!) i don't think it would be as affective. You can always try covering it your way too you know?

And yes!! This song is perfect! The whole album is really
