Then once besotted, knotted trunks now grew

Terrified and drained
He sought his deep red velvet bed
And the sleep it preordained
Exhausted, forced into the dead
The creep of nightmares came again

Hundreds of slain children
Some came crawling disembowelled
To where he stretched out howling on all fours
Corpses tore at his legs and knees
As he clawed to the cross, begging reprieve
From a Lord that soared above the awful scene
He sobbed and wept, no voice was left
To scream, the dream was not drubbed yet
He heard the horrors hiss beside him,

I have a feeling that the guitar work on this album was meant to be the most brutal ever! Don't know if Cradle can make more brutal album than this. This is the pinnacle of sheer brutality in my opinion.

i wasnt around between 1996 to 1998 i was at home in hell
They wouldn't have. Trust me. I love CoF new and old but this is nothing compared to their older stuff. Their sound changed when nymphetamine came out to a more melodic symphonic sound. Still poetic as ever but the composition isn't the same as it used to be. Old CoF sounds very raw and gives you this imagery of vampiric shit and stuff like that (Like the cruelty album cover). This song is good because it's fast as fuck just the way I like it... but I still prefer lord abortion or black goddess rises over this any day. The haunted shores is one of my favorite tracks because of the way the lyrics are written and the fact that his banshee screams were at an all time high.... and that song is by no means fast at all.
People don't understand why people rag on CoF now, but I do because I'm a fan of most of the music they have made. There is a clear difference between the two and this is simply just a case of "New stuff = less brutal, non brutal fans find it appealing. Old stuff = brutal as fuck, fans who are into brutal music love it."
