Cooke, Sam - Little Girl Blue Lyrics

No use old girl
You might as well surrender
Your hope is getting slender
Why won't somebody send a tender blue boy
To cheer up little girl blue

Sit there and count your fingers
What can you do?
Old girl you're through
So sit there and count your little fingers
Unlucky little girl blue, whoa

Sit there and count the raindrops falling on you
It's time you knew
That all, all you count is the raindrops
That's falling on
Little blue girl

No use old girl
You might as well surrender
Your hope is getting slender
Why won't somebody send a tender blue boy
To cheer up little girl blue

I've always loved Sam Cooke's voice, and this is one of my favorites of his. Wonderful, lush orchestration on this song.

I adore, admire and love Nat "King" Coke, Johnny Mathis, Donny Hathaway, Johnny Nash and, of course, Sam Cooke - singers with great voices and splendid delivery.

Unfortunately, seldom do the Jazz and Smooth Pop/Jazz TV & music stations play Nash, Hathaway and Cooke.

Sam Cooke made a wonderful Jazz CD Tribute To Billy Holiday.

It's truly "Smooth Jazz" in the organic sense of the phrase "Smooth Jazz"

Take, for example, his treatment of"God Bless The Child", "Good Morning Heartache", "Don't Get Around Much Anymore"

"My Foolish Heart", "These Foolish Things"...

Johnny Nash has done some classically beautiful songs also.

His voice is as melodious as Donny Hathaway's - and Lala
    Hathaway's his daughter.

    SC:RIP!

Sam Cooke. 'Nuff said...some call him "The Man Who Invented Soul." RIP Singer. I just listened to three versions of this song; Pianist Hank Jones, Songstress Ms Ella Fitzgerald and Mr Sam Cooke...all beautifully done. Thanks for the upload, Multiplicityme2too. Blessings

Sam was sooooo overlooked. Much better a showman than Sinatra, Bing, Presley, Martin, Davis, all of them. Shame. His death was a sham. What would have he accomplished?

  10. M.... B....

Wow, another Gem!  Especially like the saxophones. Very "Glenn Miller-esque" :)
