Concrete Blonde - Someday? Lyrics

Say it's been too hard
Say it's been too long
You say it's all too much
The thrill has long been gone
Well I thought you could
Yes I thought you could
And you thought you could too

But it's a place and time
Where the years behind are piled up high
But never mind
It's time to crash and burn or fly
And I thought you could
You know I thought you could
You know I thought you could too

Go to sleep now
Go on dream away
Isn't easy, is it babe?
And I hope
And I dream
And I pray
That sometime
We'll find a way

Some say easy come
Some say easy go
Some say time flies by too fast
Some say it drags on all too slow
Well I thought you could
You know I thought you could
And I thought I could too

But, if you never find
The heart to start all over again
Remember I was one
Who tried to be a friend to you... I
Well, I know I tried
Yes, you know I tried
And I know you tried too

Go to sleep, now
Go on dream away
Is it easy, is it babe?
And, I hope
And, I dream
And, I pray
That sometime
We'll find a way

Go to sleep, now
(Go to sleep, now)
Go on dream away
(Go on dream away)
Is it easy, is it babe?
(Is it easy, is it babe?)
And, I hope
And, I dream
And, I pray
That sometime
We'll find a way

    crash and burn or fly

  5. G.... L....

    Concret d+

  6. d.... ....

Concrete Blonde was very hard to figure out. They looked like a druggie/biker type group, but their songs were sensitive, smart, artsy. Who knows what they were going for?

  7. m.... p....

how did this band never get moar airplay???this is Gold

  8. J.... H....

Una de las mejores canciones de esta banda.Lastima que no pude ir a sus conciertos del 2005 y 2006 en Lima.Pero solo escucharla en Doble Nueve,me ablanda el alma,y me alejo de todo lo que me perturba.

  9. J.... M....

The volume is too low on this video

  10. A.... C....

I miss you 90's, god do I feel old seeing this video! I miss all the people that are gone... RIP to friends and family that have past on to a better place.

    Cheers from the southwestern rockies!

  11. s.... g....

Powerful voice... but this sounds MOR compared to God is a Bullet.

  12. D.... g....

lloro cuando escucho esta cancion 😢😢😢😢😢😢 la letra encaja directamente en el momento q estuve pasando 9/5/19

  18. B.... L....

    Perfect song

  19. J.... S....

What an amazing voice,im in complete list for this amazing woman.

    J.... S....

  20. S.... J....

I call this tune Lullaby part one or two...

  21. C.... S....

  22. K.... D....

Have all their music, absolutely awesome live!2003 live in Brazil give it a listen johnette's vocals are amazing

  23. D.... J....

    She is fantasticly rocking babalishous

  24. T.... F....

I think this is a better *whole* album than Bloodletting. Bloodletting had bigger hits (Joey, Bloodletting, Tomorrow Wendy, Caroline) but Walking in London is the better cohesive concept album. I loved this album as a little girl in middle school and I still love it now as an adult. I just sing these songs to myself sometimes for no apparent reason. It reminds me of how Lana del Rey's best album is Ultraviolence though her hits have come from less cohesive, less musically genius albums.

  25. S.... Y....

Amazing voice, tight babd - hugely underrated. Love it!

  26. F.... d....

    Muito linda RS - Brasil

  27. R.... B....

    Amo esta cancion

  28. m.... v....

she looks good here... love her voice

  29. A.... S....

I'm completely in love with this woman's voice...

    A.... S....

    Yeah welcome to the club

  30. P.... M....

i really loved that woman, her voice and beauty made a spell on me..

  31. g.... ....

Check this song out live on Letterman. I think it is better than the studio version.

  32. d.... ....

    I love you.

  33. C.... F....

It's Cheap Trick's guy on bass again?!))

    C.... F....

    agin anad again and again

  34. m.... ....

It's always been one of my favorite songs of theirs, out of dozens of spectacular offerings.

  35. l.... s....

You can sing "Sweet Jane" over this, but it's still a good song, with powerhouse, unique vocals!

  36. m.... ....

best 90's band .. always sounded great

  37. f.... ....

    janis joplin

  38. B.... B....

she reminds me of a mix of grace slick and Chrissie hynde....a very talented band!

    B.... B....

the fuck are you talking about

    B.... B....

    +shithead2415 why so negative

    B.... B....

yeah, thats what i ask you ? why are you such a negative shit?

    B.... B....

    That's a good analogy actually.

    B.... B....

    it's okay - that's why he's called shithead.

  39. e.... ....

    De mis placeres culpables.

  40. J.... N....

I heard this song like once on (US) MTV and barely remembered its existence probably in 1992. So like three years later, I was in England and ended up in some random music shop in this tiny town in Cornwall and found this CD single for like £1 or less and bought it and fell totally in love with it. What a great song and it brings back memories of that trip.

    J.... N....

    nice story

  41. c.... ....

One of my favorite bands... how were they not bigger?

  42. M.... ....

    So good!!!!

  43. R.... k....

once again, you make me love you so much more ! LOVE THIS SONG AND VIDEO!! what an awesome band! and SINGER!!!!!
Johnette you are my mentor frm afar! Thank you mucho!!

    R.... k....

    one of my favorite band

  44. f.... j....

kat von d brought me here... anyone else?? no?? ok lol

    f.... j....

    me too🙌

    f.... j....

    +Jeff Eitel me too xD

    f.... j....

check out her performance of this song on david Letterman

    f.... j....

    KVD isn't that a new STD ?

  45. R.... V....

I d like to see this video in HD version, Ilove this band...

  46. H.... ....

I remember this single being played on the radio for a short minute back in 1992/93. I also remember 'Joey' being played in an episode of '90210' from like a year or so before that. She's totally underrated as a singer/songwriter.

    H.... ....

25 years later, having listened to it back then it still stands out as one of my favorite songs of all time.

    H.... ....

Napolitano omg she still stands out ...iconic,passionate and not the norm of her time

    H.... ....

Heartboy1031 yeah babe, true. (Even my teacher knew the song Joey.....and she was all about mainstream.) I figure they're underrated because they didn't sell out to the devil. So I always remind myself that they're not underrated by their fans, and, it's this way for a reason...

    H.... ....

Heartboy1031 remember the nightly or weekly variety show hosted by a , like, after Dick Clark, and before Seacrest. I guess they're known as, like, Top40 guys (radio and tv) His name was Rick something. Concrete Blonde did that show . I was very young, I didn't know the alternative/underground/independent vs mainstream.. Do you remember that tho?

    H.... ....

Rick Dees? His show didn't last very long if I remember right.

  47. T.... C....

    Fucking awesome guitar and vocals

  48. M.... ....

Been on a Concrete Blonde jag lately and Bloodletting has been hitting my ears pretty hard - their stuff still holds up all these years later. Any notice the bass player in this video? Looks like Tom Petersson from Cheap Trick. I suspect it *is* him ( will have to look that up ). Was fortunate enough to see CC twice on the Group Therapy tour. Great shows.... \m/

    M.... ....

Monotremata ...it's not Tom Peterson !!

    M.... ....

This is from Walking in London.

    M.... ....

Tom Petersson actually played with Concrete Blonde quite a bit.

    M.... ....

    It's not him

  49. a.... ....

    Class Act!

  50. J.... L....

This is one of my favorite bands they have great songs , do covers I think are better than the original and were so underated for their time .

  51. H.... D....

One Hot chick with a Killer Voice....

  52. R.... M....

She has a beautiful Voice - Great Ballad

  53. b.... g....

The Letterman version is the BOMB!

    b.... g....

Yep, that is outstanding! He loves Johnette.

    b.... g....

Have you seen the video of this song from Germany? I like it even more.

    b.... g....

Yes it is also . Joey from the Dennis Miller show is so great too . So cool when the live version of a song sounds just as good as the original

  54. T.... ....

Johnette and James wrote a lot of great fucking songs over the years and only a small handful of us even recognized how extremely talented these two people really are.  Its a real pig bitch, this thing called the music business.

    T.... ....

    Couldn't agree more!!

    T.... ....

+The1WhoKnowsTheTruth THE most under rated band on the face of the planet.

    T.... ....

+Stephen Romano oh hell...can put at least a couple dozen bands on that underrated list...but Concrete Blond is definitely on the list!

    T.... ....

agreed. the stranglers are on the list, also.

    T.... ....

    The1WhoKnowsTheTruth
    I can't speak rt now

  55. 2.... ....

I Love Concrete Blonde & especially Johnette , but...
don't you think there is Penny Marshall there?  ;)))

    2.... ....

Definitely one of a kind, but most definitely influenced by both!

    2.... ....

Must be a coincidence; listen to "Dancing Barefoot"

    2.... ....

    @22latino maybe in the smile....

    2.... ....

+Albert Hall Eww, I hope not Patti Smith. She's a political boring typical liberal. Seen her several times open for Neil Young last couple decades.

    2.... ....

obviously you miss the point....she's the spiritual side of Lou's pinpoint vision of reality

  56. E.... b....

    JANIS JOPLIN

  57. E.... C....

YES YES YES!!! love this song sooooooooooooooo much <3

  58. M.... ....

Johnette is one sexy woman, I have always loved Concrete Blonde.

    M.... ....

Not anymore.  This video was shot many moons ago.  She's pretty scary looking now.

    M.... ....

@The Verbally Abusive Clown back in the day she was really hot ,,,I think she is now 57 or 58 yrs old ,,but her voice is super strong,,give her credit,,as other high profile female singers have fallen off the charts and can't hit the high notes anymore,,Johnette is still nailing it ..she does solo shows now,,but she;s still a talent and she;s still an incredible songwriter..

    M.... ....

+The Verbally Abusive Clown i think you need to mature your definition of beauty. She is just as beautiful now as she was then, more, maybe when you have lived a little, you'l see that. Our culture brainwashed us into believing that only youth has beauty, it isnt so.

    M.... ....

I know right as I approach middle age I definitely have to get those bangs, it really took years off of her face until she was like sixty.

  59. m.... ....

THANKS FOR THE POST.  Love it, great voice, great sound.

  60. k.... ....

Only knew one song from the band until recently. Began seeking out video b/c one of band members has same name as my dad. They are a true talent. Any idea where folks buy albums these days? Lead singer is incredible.

    k.... ....

try amazon. cds   listen to jonstown. one of thier best

  61. B.... W....

they are the one that made me realized that i'm stuck in 90's forever...happily and proundly

    B.... W....

    Bo Wu I

    B.... W....

    Lol. It's an 80's band.

    B.... W....

there 1st album came out in 1986 but they had 3 or 4 albums in the 90s

  62. P.... W....

hippy Hollywood girl I would date her in a sec, but............... im 37 and haven't dated for years. luv ya music.

  63. j.... v....

    What a voice !!!

    j.... v....

    Voice.  Talent. Agreed.

  64. m.... s....

Good song. What the hell happened to these guys, ya don't hear of 'em anymore?!

  65. j.... j....

The voice, the lyrics and the angst written on her face.
Damn!! I've loved that woman since I first saw her and
    heard her sing!

    j.... j....

She has a nose that turns me on. Don't ask why. It just does. And I'm a foot guy

  66. c.... d....

    goosebumps

  67. A.... H....

    Wow .. !! Love you Chicks !!! !!!

  68. S.... ....

great song ...but serious it's time to find a better version of the video...

  69. J.... P....

And I hope and I dream and I pray that I will meet Johnette Napolitano someday!!! The voice is SO GOOD and so appealing to the ear! Give us more Johnette!!!

  70. j.... ....

Johnette was/is just so damn beautiful, so talented, so........perfect....

  71. B.... G....

The microphone is happiest when Johnette sings into it. Just like the guitar is happiest when played by David Gilmour (lead singer of Pink Floyd)

  72. J.... P....

ABSOLUTELY LOVE this song! Johnette's vocals and the bands instrumentals make this band one of the BEST!!!

  73. B.... ....

Nope. You just appreciate good music.

  74. w.... ....

Jim Mankey is adept at that sort of guitar riff. The one he does in Caroline is so good he does it twice in a row. Everybody Knows has another hair raiser.

  75. S.... G....

Does it make me a stalker if I changed my work computer password to Johnette, and I have listened to nothing but Concrete Blonde's 5 albums--all day long--at work--for three straight weeks? I don't know how I overlooked this enormous talent in the 90s-but I am making up for lost time now.

    S.... G....

    Love it

  76. T.... P....

They could have done without the 60's motif and the Janis Joplin look but whatever.

  77. J.... T....

Written by Clint Black? awesome song indeed!

  78. C.... ....

they are still one of the best bands on the planet...

  79. e.... z....

im hoping one these days to see this group. i live on ks/ok border w a f#cked up work schedule. maybe if the play in wichita i could see em plus im ol school so us kind dont like to leave too far.

  80. O.... M....

Concrete Blonde ROCKS!!!!!! Johnette is awesome!!!~Ocean

  81. t.... ....

    i love johnette

  82. R.... M....

I Love this song.... also check out Carry Me Away, and Make Me Cry...
    All great ones!

  83. L.... L....

I love this song it is sooooo me

  84. W.... S....

What a great song. Their melodic sense, Napolitano's husky voice and the great lead playing make them one of my favorite bands.

  85. C.... S....

esa voz de Johnette Napolitano unica pero ya ta tia

  86. D.... E....

The guitar solo still gives me goose bumps.

  87. S.... X....

It is no matter it is the Blonde... they rock!! you can feel it more than anything..at least I do.

  88. G.... S....

Love the Roger McGuinn glasses. A concrete Blonde Pop song - cool!

  89. s.... p....

    Well hello there Tom Petersson!

  90. U.... M....

Everybody knows is a cover of an old Leonard Cohen song. And as far as it's ''truth'' if that is truth in your world, you would do well to make some changes.

    U.... M....

Everybody Knows is from the late 80s, it's on the Pump Up the Volume soundtrack, you seem lost here, but everyone loves Leonard Cohen. Lana covered Chelsea Hotel No. 2. Lana is the only modern equivalent we have of women like Johnette.

    U.... M....

In fact Pump Up the Volume uses BOTH versions...it uses Leonard Cohen in the movie and Concrete Blonde on the soundtrack. That movie was really pivotal in my life as a young person. I was at that weird age where movies didn't go instantly to DVD or streaming, so we still felt like movies from five years ago were still relevant...it's so fucking weird to me now that in my early teens I was watching horror movies and indie films from the 80s and didn't have an issue with it nor did my friends. I think that would be weird now. Things now have to be at least 10 years old to seem "retro" if they're 5 years old they're just dated. With us it was the other way around ...things had to be 20 or 25 years old to be retro, but 5 years ago was still cool, especially with albums and films.

  91. j.... ....

Concrete Blonde is back! Troubadour 2012!

  92. T.... ....

Thanks for your response to a comment I made some time ago. Yes, I was too hasty with my comment at that time. I did discover with considerable joy that James Mankey is still with us. I'm not sure why I thought he had died; something I had heard vaguely or seen written. I like the music of Concrete Blonde and it's all those factors I earlier mentioned combined that make them great. Mankey is a fine, fine guitar player and with the voice of Napolitano the music soars. Enjoy the concert!

  93. J.... ....

Not true! The guitarist's name is James Mankey, and the band (one of the greatest ever) is playing in my neighborhood this week.

  94. L.... B....

A really great song... but of course Johnette Napolitano could mimic a horny Tomcat screeching and it would sound magical.

  95. W.... ....

    Go to sleep now,
    Go on dream away,
    Isn't easy, is it babe?
    And I hope,,,,
    And I dream,,,,
    And I pray,,,,
That sometime we'll find a way,,,
    MAYBE ONE DAY,,,,

  96. T.... ....

I love everybody knows cuz its a true song

  97. a.... ....

    moron says what ?

  98. a.... ....

true your not ... go away now and listen to some Justin B... crap
