Como, Perry - Without A Song Lyrics

Without a song, the day would never end
Without a song, the road would never bend
When things go wrong, a man ain't got a friend
Without a song!

That field of corn, would never see a plough
That field of corn, would be deserted now
A young one's born, but he's no good no how
Without a song!

I got my trouble an' woe, but sure as I know
The Jordan will roll (Roll you river Jordan!)
I'll get along as long as a song is strung
In my soul!

I'll never know what makes the rain to fall,
I'll never know what makes the grass so tall,
I only know there ain't no love at all
Without a song!

(I got my trouble an' woe, but sure as I know the Jordan will roll,
I'll get along as long as a song is strung in my soul!)
In my soul!

I'll never know what makes the rain to fall,
I'll never know what makes the grass so tall,
I only know there ain't no love at all
Without a song!

I used to hear this song, as a teen, by Como late at night on the radio when I was in bed going to sleep. I loved it! Later, I would sing it to my wonderful daughters when they were growing up. The way he sung it and the words and the melody-well, just beautifully done.

In the summer of 1976....I was lucky enough to be in a group that toured with Perry as his opening act, and his backup singers for 7 weeks across the US.... This was one of my favorite songs to hear him sing....One of the best summers in my life..... A wonderful man, and a first class experience.....God Luv you Perry....cause we do!

    P.... C....

Hey, Pete - I was on that tour with you ...one of the best summers of my life as well. The nicest guy in show business he was called, and it was no act. Humble, funny and generous. Remember the private clubs he took us to in Chicago? That one place was the first time I ate clams on the half shell, egged on by the rest of you. It was also the last time I ever ate clams on the half shell! I also remember in that club there was a clear lucite piano with a guy in white tails playing. I was 21 - what a crazy whirlwind ride that was. All the famous stars we saw backstage, and in Vegas , and the Jerry Lewis Telethon ... I saw Jeannie Kaufman once a few years after the tour, Alan Martin is no longer with us, I don't know anything about anybody else. I hope you're well, old friend! Do you have any pictures from then? That would be a hoot, I only have two - one stage picture with all of us and a polaroid my mom took backstage at Valley Forge Music Faire with Perry and me.

  25. j.... ....

My dad sang this song and I can still hear him singing it. Loved you dad!! X

P C you are nearly as good!! X

  26. r.... ....

The Greatest Singer of All Time!!

    r.... ....

    surely one of the greatest....

  27. 1.... ....

Try the tag NY on the same song search and see if it has the level of emotion that
is worthy - by singer of such a wonderful song.

  28. D.... R....

Superb. This is the Perry Como that I wish I had heard more of. Singing out strong on an emotional ballad. He tended to be too quiet and too subtle for my taste on a lot of the serious songs that he did.
