Coheed And Cambria - Love Protocol Lyrics

You locked a knife inside my heart
Buried a key inside my mind
The maps surveyed, the X you chart
Where our hands go to hide

Will our needs stay level
As the terrain starts to grade high?
Should I remain unsettled?
Watch goodnight turn to goodbye
Goodnight turn to goodbye

Hold on to me
Tell me you've got me, sweetheart
The world is going dim in my gaze
Sweet vertigo
Feel my lungs heaving, choking
Clawing down my back, panic attack
I'm alone, watch me float as I fall

The soundtrack placed over this heart
It shares no rhythm of mine
It juts and sways, it ends and starts
All in and out of our time

Oh, I can be your dancer
The one you set within your sights
When I admit surrender
Then maybe goodbye will turn to goodnight
Goodbye will turn to goodnight

Hold on to me
Tell me you've got me, sweetheart
The world is going dim in my gaze
Sweet vertigo
Feel my lungs heaving, choking
Clawing down my back, panic attack
I'm alone, watch me float as I fall

Oh no, we have been cursed
The stage set for a tragic verse
Our love protocol romance
Our air drained of happenstance

What have we turned ourselves into?
This abstract personnel

Hold on to me
Tell me you've got me, sweetheart
The world is going dim in my gaze
Sweet vertigo
Feel my lungs heaving, choking
Clawing down my back, panic attack
I'm alone, watch me float as I fall

Oh, watch me float
Oh, watch me float
Watch me float as I fall

Definitely has a Good Apollo 4 vibe

  31. tdfitts

I feel whole listening to this.

  32. Cohan Scott

I still kind of wished claudio put that third harmony in the second verse "Goodbye turn to goodnight" like he did in the first verse... because it definitely made it pop!

  33. eyesscream051

This song reminds me of Faint of hearts and Here to mars... I love it

  44. Oniel lopez

My favorite out of all the box set !!!!!!

  45. lucespoons

    Fucking hell this is amazing

  46. Chauncey Walker

Despite the chorus sounding like Rascal Flatts, this song is catchy as hell.

  47. SerpensSolida

I was gonna ask "don't you fucking love this song?", but that would be a stupid question. One of the best three songs in this album. Just fucking love it.

  48. The Ghost Gurl Gamer

Oh man, this whole album. It's something else.

  49. Ian Lee

Y'all i fuckin' love this track

  50. Kury Letterman

Can't stop listening to this song so amazing

  51. sonicshroom

Holy shit, this is so different for Coheed but THAT MOTHERFUCKING CHORUS OH MY GOD I CAN'T GET ENOUGH.

  52. Frank Bienefelt

    That chorus

  53. There Will Be Gorgons

Big Here to Mars vibe here

    CorporateNothing

@topoly28 it's basically a better, more complete Here to Mars, kinda like All On Fire is pretty similar to Gravity's Union. I love both songs but I think I genuinely prefer All On Fire at this point.

    Rogue Planet

@CorporateNothing I prefer this chorus over the one on All On Fire but I absolutely love that little break in All on Fire where he says shifting paradigm.

  54. The Crowing

oh man when claudio does the scream singing towards the end to the "oh watch me float, oh watch me float" it tickles my pickle quite well.... fuck this song brings me back to that classic coheed sound. Starts at 4:05

    Miss. Meowkins

THAT'S HOW I FEEL!!! It feels so much like Second Stage Turbine Blade!!🖤🖤🖤🖤

    Radix-Vita

Yeah for real- the "Float"s in this song they touch something deep in my soul, they give me chills. This song a lot reminds me of Dark Side of Me, just there is a level of desperation in his voice here that I felt in that song as well or rather makes me feel the same way... A lot in this album does that. The three songs I can't get enough of on it are this, The Pavilion and Toys. Something about that guitar in Toys just gets me pumped.

    SuperNoah05

Hey Crowing I see you almost everywhere in a Coheed and Cambria video's comments XD

    Andrew Winters Bell

Is it time to start screaming “Hail”?

  55. EPC 1522

The details. The details like the guitar scrape at 3:21 is exactly what makes coheed the greatest band in the world.

  56. James Markham

Claudio just loves her so much.

  57. pageperpage

Claudio writes the best expression of love and desire towards a person, whether in a healthy or deranged way. He's one of the best and my favorite lyricists of all time period, actually.

    Kate Yanko

    This. exactly.

    Radix-Vita

For sure, dude is an utter master at what my friend and I lovingly refer to as torture ballads. This like Dark Side of Me, Peace to the Mountain, All that I am, they fall into that category for me. They help me sit so fully in my despair and self doubt and self loathing that once realized, I can dig my way out. Its not hyperbole to say that Claud, and CoCa have helped get me thru life; They have been such an integral part of my existence for past seven years or so (Yeah I jumped on the wagon with YoTBR). They've written the soundtrack to my life. Hell Color Before the Sun helped me come to grips with my reluctance to have a kid. I now have a 10 month old son, and Songs like Atlas, Ghost, Peace to the Mountain helped me no longer fear being a father.

    pageperpage

Radix-Vita same effect man. Him, the band, his music, they’re all life savers. If i had a kid id also pass on their work towards the next generation. It’s a perfect expression of emotion in an original and personal way.

    Millenium2927

    Top three greatest love songs:
    3: when a man loves a woman
2: I will always love you
    1: love protocol

  58. cginsane22

That last "clawing down my back" tho! Been there.

    Miss. Meowkins

I went back and listened for it and now I'm even more in love with it!!! 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤

  59. Aaron Ramirez

May be the only song I REALLY fucking enjoy from this album.

I'm at least thankful there's at least something there for me in it. I'm not impressed with this album, but this song gives me hope that the older Coheed is kicking around there somewhere. Not the technical side of Coheed. The side that can write a fucking hook. This song is that fucking good.

    Iceberg Slim

Couldnt disagree with you more. This album is gold. Been listening since SSTB and im in love with this album.

  60. Kiel Javate

    masterful!

  61. Bajheera

Absolutely cannot get enough of this song <3

    Gonzo Force

Flex on the flex to get flexed

    Altobeli Machado

    Rob C

    Wow and Coheed! great pairing!

    Miss. Meowkins

I'm in love with this song so much!! It's helped my anxiety the past few weeks.🖤🖤🖤🖤

    PureVicarious

Anyone hates this song GET SHIT ONNNNN!!!!! lol

  62. C2l3TlA/\/

Best song on the album for me. It's got what I love in a Coheed song. That dry pluck and chug of Claudio's Explorer, Josh giving out a groovy intricate beat (you really can hear his jazz influences)- with a nice staccato bass line that thumps, and then a run out of 'nowhere' by Travis.
This is probably the best verse(s) I've heard from Coheed in forever, just in terms of the sheer structure, delivery, cadence, clarity and subject matter in regards to Claudio's articulated/conversational approach.
To harp on about the verses of this song more- it really makes the whole track feel more intimate and like it's defiantly significant as a part in the story. It feels very earnest. Something I really haven't heard from Coheed since the Good Apollo years: that desperate earnestness.

"Then maybe 'goodbye' will turn to 'goodnight'- oh
'Goodbye' will turn to 'goodnight'- oh..."

This line right here is now one of my alltime favorite moments in a Coheed and Cambria song. I can't help but smile.

Overall, I get a real 'The Lying Lies & Dirty Secrets Of Miss Erica Court' vibe to this, and that's my favorite Coheed song. I feel like this song could be slipped in to fit nicely along with the Willing Well series.

Edit: This is now my favorite Coheed and Cambria song. Of all of them. I never thought it would ever happen that I would enjoy a Coheed and Cambria song as much as my favorite songs from Good Apollo I and IKSIII... Wow. This is seriously beyond all expectations!

    Jonathan Tozer

Loved your thoughts. This was the first song on listen through which grabbed me, because of the verse. These verses could come straight of GA, which is the pinnacle of Coheed. The album is a masterpiece.

So when I heard the verse picking, off cuff drums and chords half way through. It got me.

This album for me is currently sitting at fourth highest in my rankings after the first three.

    Cohan Scott

I agree with this 120% (although fuel for the feeding end or Evagria The Faithful are debatable favorites for me) but you’re absolutely correct about this being reminiscent of GA 1 especially that “goodbye/goodnight” part I rewound it a couple of times it took me straight back to high school lol

    Geoffrey Graves

C2l3TlA/\/ “desperate earnestness “. is a very good way of putting. Tough to argue, but so many good songs on this record to choose from....

    eyesscream051

The "goodbye, goodnight"is really good... reminds me of Faint Of Hearts and Apollo I and Ii

  73. eternalbleedingheart

As a sufferer of panic attacks, I love this song!

    Josh Eppard

Sitting here skimming the YouTube comments and I’m so glad to hear you say that. That lyric was almost changed when Claudio wrote an alternate chorus. Which was heartbreaking for me. I told him “Do you know how many people will relate to this on a powerful level. Those who suffer, like me, from panic attacks.... this is quite powerful. I’m glad he kept it. And I’m glad it spoke to you.

    eternalbleedingheart

Thanks so much for the response! Anxiety, depression, and mental illness in general are very isolating. I've found the best way of coping is putting it out there and finding just how many others have been silently struggling. My mom was a diagnosed paranoid schizophrenic when I was in my single digits.. so I grew up with all sorts of weird. Reading the Amory Wars: GAIBSIV comics and seeing struggles of The Writer, I can say I've seen some very similar things growing up! The state of mental healthcare in our current day/age is appalling and tragically only mentioned or addressed when things have hit rock bottom. That all to say, thank you again for keeping this one line and verse. Whether this song or your many others that speak to us fans, keep doing what you guys do!

    anthony jones

@Josh Eppard you the man josh! See ya june 6th boston! Ill be screaming my lungs out buddy

  76. El rincón de Jack

I don't know, but this song gives me a certain Classic vibes to it. One of the comments mentioned The Police... I second that.

    Fiorella Alvarez

    Sea necio

    El rincón de Jack

    Mike Lee

It’s that Chorus pedal on the guitar in the verse.

  77. Booooooooooooook

Might be the best one on the album

    Nicholas Vena

Booooooooooooook agreed it has that insane coheed catchiness moreso than the others

  78. Sirius Blenke
