Coheed And Cambria - Junesong Provision Lyrics

Good morning, sunshine, awake when the sun hits the sky.
Look up the sounds that surround the day you died.
She waits for me outside near a hole in the ground.
In the one way thinking you might get the upper hand.
Dear Newo Ikkin, how's Apollo been treating you?
Has he been a good boy since the day I left?
Give him my love and a sweet kiss for his head.
Cause I won't be coming home, when you get this I'll be dead.

Norris and Larry,
Gloria to nowhere.

Sir, I think you'd better take my hand
And pray we'll make this one out alive.
Captain! We've lost all systems control!
Then, Son, I'll see you in my sleep.
Sleep..

Is it all you've shared with them that makes us paranoid?
Is it the dream that one day you might be something you're not?
Is it all you've shared with them that makes us paranoid?
Is it the dreams that make us real?
Is it the dreams that make us real?

We'll miss you and wait for you when you come.
Wrong way, right way.
Bad luck, what God has been giving me.
We'll miss you and wait for you when you come.
Wrong way, right way.
Bad luck, you've got to be kidding me.

I've spent so long sitting down here,
Paper cut my heart in half and discard the evidence!
When it's yours, come send me the last half.
Dowsed in kerosene
In a torched blazed blood bath.
When boy sets fire, God knows you've lost
At a cost that has no price
When you've purchased guilt,
Stand at attention
And make sure you know the lines and yourself.

Yet you'd say, "I'll be home alone again, waiting."

Wait for me alright, I'm still a boy down there
When you want to promise me that
[x3]

Wait for me alright, I'm still a boy down there
When you want to promise me that
(To drive down. Where's Wednesday? Where's Wednesday?)
[x2]

  7. T.... K....

What's with all these dumbass comments talking about "emo"?
Coheed and Cambria is and was story based progressive rock. "Emo" music is a bunch of upper class privileged white kids whining about how much their life sucks cause their first crush dumped them for being a jaded dumbass.

  8. P.... B....

a sign of hope emerges in the saga

    d.... ....

deadNdivine12 they are the best point blank no argument they deserve every one of their fans

  14. M.... V....

goddamn people Coheed is not an Emo band.

    M.... V....

Agreed. Though I'm not really sure what to call a band when their music tells the story of a graphic novel that the singer created. Graphic progressive rock? Anyway, the books are called "The Amory Wars." Check 'em out and be educated.

    M.... V....

According to most sources, they fall into progressive rock but some specific songs just fall into a whole different category every now and then.

    M.... V....

I've always thought of this as post-hardcore. not emo.

  15. M.... V....

When he say "Upper Hand" it sounded like Bert McCracken

  16. S.... ....

    love this

  17. S.... ....

    S.... ....

    That is a fact.

  18. S.... B....

Alright, you primitive screw-heads, listen up. See this? This, is my BOOM stick.

    S.... B....

+Samuel Blenke Did you check the Evi; Dead show? I haven't caught the last two eps. Kinda cool even if they aren't allowed to use Ash phrases from Army of.

  19. D.... A....

1:37–2:11 is my absolute favorite part. It’s just so bad-ass. Without that, this song would only have been half as good, especially considering it’s one of the “okay” songs on the album in my opinion.

    D.... A....

+Burning Star V Fuck you this is one of the best songs on the cd.

    D.... A....

    @E Carlos
Don’t get all ass-hurt over my opinion, kiddo.

    D.... A....

    @Ryan Baker
I agree, but aren’t a lot of songs by the band less smooth and more complex? “The Willing Well II: From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness”, for example (unless you’re exclusively referring to complex _sounds_).

    D.... A....

    @Ryan Baker
I guess. Though, “The Light & the Glass” has a similar harmony during the “If you get put to sleep...” segment, albeit not quite as “messy”.

    D.... A....

    it's all good fella

  20. j.... ....

    ALWAYS gotta LOVE classic coheed!!!

  21. R.... ....

that nigga on lead guitar is a straight beast. these cats jammed where they at now?

  22. T.... ....

    FAVORITE JAM MOMENT

  23. G.... L....

I think the only reason you people want to classify this as something ( and land on emo ) is because you don't know how to classify it, and because you dont know how to classify it, you call it emo. " the lyrics are emo, so = emo". No. The Promise Ring, American Football. <- that's emo. The Get Up Kids, early Sunny Day, Texas is the Reason, Elliot. That is emo. Freaking Pedro the Lion? Emo. Those in mind... Would you consider coheed emo?

    G.... L....

    @Grayson L. I classify it as Awesome.

    G.... L....

@Grayson L. I think they were mostly lumped in as Emo because there are certainly parallels and shades of it, mostly along the lines of Vocals, melodies, and that semi-punk independent energy that was shared with Coheed's label-mates, many of whom were also emo or classified as such. It's definitely a fact that C&C took their own path and became more experimental and metal and prog, and were influenced by their own concoction of artists, and are WAY different than emo, although it's clear that they could have been defining the direction of post-2000s emo back with this came out. Not to put it too neatly, but The Rolling Stones defined rock while it was previously a genre, and by putting a cap on it and saying "they're not rock because Elvis is rock" would be way too specific and picky for the general public. I think this would have ben called some sort of "prog-emo" if i could have tried to explain the band to someone back in the day haha

    G.... L....

people call it emo! i have never herd something that stupid in my life

    G.... L....

    +Fothcrah *heard

    G.... L....

Grim Of Gray yeah those are all emo, but so are coheed, at the drive in, and glassjaw

  24. A.... O....

Dude whoever thinks coheed is "emo" is kind of stupid and don't know why they write their albums the way they do. Claudio takes the graphic novels and the novels he's written and puts them in song form. I have the graphic novels for this album and it's not "emo". The comics are dark as shit and really sad and even a little happy but that's why most of their songs sound so dark and sad and violent.

    A.... O....

Coheed is not emo....LOL...progressive !! You can't really put Coheed and a category bro their unique there's really nobody else like them then listen to their albums you know I don't got to tell you

    A.... O....

This band especially in this album combines Post-Hardcore (aka emotional hardcore), Progressive Rock, and Pop Punk in such a perfect form that it removes any weaknesses or lame elements from any of those genres that would give it a negative connotation, so to me they are an emotional post-hardcore band with prog rock influences and there is no shame in that at all, as very few bands can execute that as perfectly and with such a bold ambition as Coheed.

    A.... O....

    emo core.

    A.... O....

This album is ABSOLUTELY emo. Listen to Shabutie. It is even more emo. Let your preconceived notions go regarding what you think emo is. This is emo. No question.

    A.... O....

I could care less what it’s labeled...wait a minute, I’ll just label it badass!

  25. P.... ....

I always argue with people that say Coheed is Emo, but then I come back to SSTB and am reminded that I barely liked any of the songs on the album, and think "Yeah...Whatever they are now, they were definitely emo at the start."

    P.... ....

@Joseph De Explosif I'm pretty sure that Coheed always wanted to make something like Good Apollo vol. 1, but their label were pushing them towards more of a punk kind of sound in the early days, and you can definitely hear that here. In my opinion, this sounds more like post-hardcore than anything, which would explain why it's labelled as emo. Parts of this album are musically comparable to other post-hardcore and indie rock bands that were around at the same time and get put into the emo category. I think the first time I heard the track 33, it was actually in a really old flash game called emogame where you could play as Claudio and a load of other guys from "emo" bands.

    P.... ....

@Siha Revan interesting, must play that!

    P.... ....

Pale.Rider I actually love this and in keeping secrets most but I'm an emo heart so that would explain it

    P.... ....

Pale.Rider you couldn't be any more wrong, emo was used to describe bands like the get up kids, and dashboard confessional, not even close.

    P.... ....

C&C was absolutely an emo band. From Shabutie to this album its all emo. Their first two albums as Coheed were phenomenal and then their decline began. There are some great tracks in FFTTEOM AND NWFT, but overall they were such a departure from their first two albums and most of the shit that followed the Good Apollo albums was garbage. I can't lie though, I did enjoy "here to mars"

  26. J.... S....

    Goddammit it's just so good

  27. P.... -....

I love Coheed, but this first album was definitely emo, their second one was too, sort of. That's not a bad thing, emo music rocks. The direction that they're chosen to go in is fucking awesome and the band that's they've progressed into rocks. This is my favourite album after Good Apollo I'm Burning Star IV, Volume 1: From Fear Through The Eye Of Madness. I guess it depends on what you call emo, because the word can apply to many different genres depending on who uses it, but I consider this album and In Keeping Secrets Of Silent Earth 3 to be emo. And I'm not talking about lyrics, I'm talking about musial style.

    P.... -....

Whatever you want to call them THANK GOD THAT EXIST!!!! Not a day go's by that I don't listen to them!!!!! ; )

    P.... -....

    @wosko I'm 23 fuckhead.

    P.... -....

@Pete Dogg what are you talking about bro I didn't say anything about age I was commenting about them being emo!!!

    P.... -....

    @William Moore I wasn't talking to you.

    P.... -....

    @Pete Dogg
Of course you're 12. Who else would comment on a YouTube video?

  28. J.... A....

    wait isn't Apollo his dog?

    J.... A....

    It's Newo's dog

    J.... A....

Apollo is his dog, newo is his gf

    J.... A....

Newo takes care of Apollo when Claudio leaves in sstb

    J.... A....

Oh ok. Its been a while since I read the book.

  29. R.... A....

That's completely out of context with what they mean, smart ass :P

But you're right in a global sense, just can't help but want to call you out on trolling, intelligently trolling, but still trolling :P

  30. C.... ....

It is said in the beginning of the song in the acoustic version of this one.

  31. R.... A....

And you can think that way if you wish.

  32. G.... ....

They're not a highly technical band. I think there's confusion among a lot of music listeners, especially newer ones, who think things are "technical" because they sound a touch complex. And honestly, while the lyrics and subjects are a fictional story, they are largely about personal things woven into the plot, and I don't think the music is written to fit the story so much (extremely evident, as some of the darkest moments in the story are some of the poppier songs).

    G.... ....

Maybe the technicality comes from how tight the band plays together and how impressive it is that Claudio can play guitar that well while singing that well, and that the songs are clearly fleshed out from years of revision and sound really detailed and polished even with the raw production which just makes it sound better. They combine a skate punk / post-hardcore sound with prog rock ambitions so I feel like the slight touches like the vocal dynamics and frequent pinch harmonics and leads give it some modest technical flair without getting in the way of the song at all, improving it if anything. Yeah joe satriani this is not, and it's definitely better off for not being anymore technical than it is, I would think.

  33. B.... R....

Actually, no. He's pretty spot on. The whole band is a concept band, based off of the graphic novel The Amory Wars, that Claudio himself writes. The albums and songs are telling the story.

    B.... R....

Wtf why did that need explaining?

  34. G.... ....

You're literally wrong about everything you wrote, save for Coheed not being an emo group.

  35. s.... ....

Is there a slower version to the first verse ?

  36. T.... ....

I'm pretty sure Coheed is progressive rock. Not emo.

    T.... ....

they're a hybrid (on this album for sure) of post-hardcore (emotional hardcore aka emo) combined with progressive rock, and they pull it off

    T.... ....

This album and their stuff as Shabutie is definitely emo and that's a good thing.

  37. H.... ....

    your mom is emo

  38. S.... A....

i think this song has changed my life.

  39. R.... A....

They aren't emo o.o They are a concept band that writes sci-fi novels in the form of music. The are trying to portray a "play" in a sense. Emo would be like Taking Back Sunday and Panic at the Disco. Yeah, they have some small similarities, but generally speaking there is so many different elements of various genres that labeling them any one thing is kind of silly. They are far too technical to fall into that genre which is built on raw emotion, even if they don't try to be technical.

    R.... A....

6 years later but this fucking comment is 100% right on!

  40. s.... ....

and sorry for replying to a year old comment...i just needed to vent

  41. s.... ....

Well whilst i can see what youre trying to say, its not exactly true is it? Like i'd say some of Radioheads songs have a very heavy feel to the lyrics and music but I wouldn't call them heavy because that implies...well heavy music like Neurosis and such but they're not, they're closer to indie whilst also being a massively famouse non independant band. Emo is the title of a genre, we all know what is actually meant by emo, thats why we dont call jazz and death metal emo even though we could

  42. P.... K....

TL;DR Coheed is Emo, and Emo isn't bad. Stop being stupid and read about music.

  43. P.... K....

In this comment thread: a whole shitload of people who don't know what "Emo" is. You just know that many people use it in a negative connotation, so you insist that Coheed isn't emo because you equate emo with something bad. If you kids actually knew what Emo was, you'd agree. It's a genre of music. en.wikipedia. org/wiki/Emo just read the first sentence.

  44. P.... K....

Emo is a subgenre of punk. They are emo. It has nothing to do with the song's subject matter. It doesn't mean they're not good. Plenty of Emo is great. Just remember, Emo is a genre of music, not a sad kid at hot topic.

  45. P.... K....

I agree with you 100% but that's not what "emo" means. Emo is a genre of music. And early Coheed definitely fits into that genre comfortably. If all music were Emo, we'd live in a very weird world.

  46. B.... J....

This song is still one of my favorites from Coheed. It's awesome to listen to on a morning flight by a window seat, and just staring out at the clouds and the morning sky, absolutely perfect.

  47. P.... J....

No Coheed and Cambria is Rock! ^_^

  48. K.... ....

If he and Chondra "fell apart", why are they still together?

  49. g.... ....

i dig that phil collins too

  50. P.... B....

Coheed is not emo. I don't know how many times this must be expressed.

  51. C.... ....

Alright you primitive screw heads, listen up! See this? This... Is my BOOMSTICK!

  52. c.... ....

    3000 times? that's it?

  53. H.... ....

Wars on Amory Drive? I thought they were originally going to be called Bag.On.Line Adventures.

  54. A.... ....

I've listened to this at least 3000 times. I'm not even kidding.

  55. K.... M....

Something about this song and album is so nostalgic even though I just recently started listening to coheed. I heard them before but never fully apreciated their work. Now their playing in my head all the time!

  56. j.... ....

I love the story that all songs tell. I own every comic books from keeping secrets of silent earth. Also to all of you who say this is emo, and to all of you who oppose the statement that this music is emo. The reason why that there is such opposition is simply because the word emo and emotional are different in that they have different connotations. Emo has a dark depressing cutter connotation while emotional has a beautiful and benevolent connotation. So stop labeling and just enjoy the music.

  57. M.... J....

    good stuff good stuff

  58. M.... J....

nah i get it. my mind just opened up

  59. T.... G....

This is my absolute favorite song from Coheed and Cambria. The lyrics grab me, especially towards the end. With Claudio he doesnt just say "I love you/ I miss you" or " Be yourself". No that's too easy. His poetic dialect makes these phrases sound so much more intense and pasionate.
"I've spent so long sitting down here, paper cut my heart in half and discard the evidence. When it's yours come send me the left half doused in kerosene in a torch blazed blood bath."
    Shakespeare, eat your heart out.

  60. R.... A....

I could watch claudio just flip his hair 11 videos in a row with no music and it would still be an awesome album :)

  61. M.... p....

Well kinda. There's a bunch of references to his real life experiences and to himself (most obvious being The Crowing, Claudio Kilgannon) but the only other example that really comes to mind is the character of Newo Ikkin, which is an anagram for Nikki Owen, an ex-gf of Claudio's.

  62. F.... K....

ah, but the fiction is based on his life, for example, did you know he grew up on amory drive? and the comics were originally called "The wars on amory drive"? or the syringia was based on herion needles as a nod to his fathers struggling addiction? or the entire third album was based on his falling apart with chondra? all the emotions are there, my friend.

  63. T.... ....

funny you say that because even though the music is very emotionally driven Claudio has said in interviews that he based the songs off the fiction to remove himself emotionally from the music.

  64. J.... ....

ahhh, Claudio before he pronounced words really weird...

  65. J.... ....

Check out the band "Audiobakery". You might just enjoy them :)

  66. K.... ....

That is by far the most intelligent retort I have seen in response to the "emo" tag Coheeed and Cambria so often get. /upvote.

  67. B.... R....

My first born will be named Claudio. No matter the sex, they will be Claudio. hmmm.... Or Josephine...

    B.... R....

Billy Rhiner I wouldn't go with that second one ahaha

  68. b.... ....

@HellsCowBoy666 what are claudio and jesse talking about at that part, i mean, i get the gist that the ship is going down or somthing, but after that i'm lost.

  69. b.... ....

@damocles943 you should save yourself the trouble and find out, otherwise it will bug the hell out of you :)

  70. A.... K....

@320bit Ahhh I see where you're coming from sir!

  71. J.... B....

    Wait, is Apollo a dog?

  72. i.... ....

two people dont like this song

  73. A.... ....

Two people didn't grow up to be men.

  74. H.... ....

@StreektlyMedeeseenal actually the good morning part Claudio writing a letter to newo, telling her he's going to kill him self (it was changed to leaving to escape off planet in the comics), the rest cut in between Jesse and Claudio.

  75. H.... ....

@StreektlyMedeeseenal nope is on IKSSE3, the writer doesn't come in until Good Apollo1, Claudio is writing a good bye letter to Newo.

  76. H.... ....

supreme trimage willhelm ryan disliked this video.

  77. S.... ....

  78. p.... ....

@zulok1337 modern "screamo" and "emo," as branded by the hot topic generation, is nothing of what it actually is. both were fairly underground genres that strived in the early and mid nineties. for examples of true screamo, i'd recommend City of Caterpillar, Portraits of Past, Saetia, Pg 99, and Orchid which are more focused on introspective lyricism and musical experimentation than screaming about who dumped who and feminine haircuts. For emo, I'd say Texas is the Reason and The Get Up Kids.

  79. I.... M....

    @Hooktonnfonics
I agree, I'm also a huge fan of classic rock and Tool. It is nice to know that I'm not the only person that recognizes the progressiveness of music and can appreciate the different paths one song can take.

  81. J.... G....

    @StephiiKaye11
Clearly it's Cladio's deep inner being feeling like he never truly grew up. I don't think the albums really explain what the comics do. I think the comic gives a half of the story and the music gives the rest. I've read all the comics beginning to end and listened to the albums beginning to end and that's what I've always gotten from it.

Nah. Just kidding. I have no fucking clue. All of that was bs'd ^

  85. B.... h....

    @Hooktonnfonics
They arnt rock but they are amazing. Especially when you know what they are about and read the comics that go along with them. The real meaning of this song is so sad. ='(

  86. A.... G....

Maybe it's just me, but I think this song would be a kickass opening song for an anime... maybe someday

  87. D.... ....

    @Hooktonnfonics So... you're a hipster, yes?

  88. K.... N....

(if you can't tell, i really really love Coheed and Cambria. lol.)

  89. K.... N....

i'm adoring the people here who know what they're talking about. i love seeing educated, intelligent people talk about music =) especially when it's an under-appreciated band like Coheed, it pisses me off so badly when people shit on them cause of his voice (which, btw, is heavenly) or cause they don't understand the story. Or just say something stupid like, "U GUYZ THIS IZ SO EMO I HATE IT". I'm really glad there are smart people out there who appreciate the genius that is Claudio Sanchez.

  90. k.... ....

@lutex442 Go check out "Biffy Clyro"'s old stuff. Check out the albums "Blackened Sky" "Vertigo of Bliss" and "Infinity Land", I'd say they are britains equivalent to Coheed and Cambria. I dunno how big they are in America but they are pretty huge in Britain. They are the only other band apart from Coheed and Cambria that have realeased 5 good solid rock albums and both imo have never made a bad song :)

  91. N.... F....

@Daniel3345 Coheed has a lot to do with emo as far as influences. Not the wide spread goth/pop-punk hybrid of today, but the 90's hardcore and punk scene(Which would later form into the shit you refer to) known for it's intricate instrumental bridges and profound/poetic/abstract lyrics. I hear tinges of Drive Like Jehu, Texas Is The Reason, early Hot Water Music, and Indian Summer(Not the british band) in their music. I agree they're not emo, but the influence shows on their sleeves.

  92. T.... ....

@Hooktonnfonics closest to classic rock that we have
