_From Fear Through The Eyes Of Madness_ is essentially a break up album (which, in the fiction, plays out as Claudio The Writer entering the word he created as its God to kill the character he'd based on his ex). But...it just so happens that he eventually made up with his ex, and now they're married and have a kid together.

The "Newo" (Newo Ikkin) that this song is about is actually based on a previous ex, Nikki Owen, so imagine that mess.

It probably isn't that he hates Nikki, but that he feels like an ass for making a song about wanting to get back with her, a song which a ton of his fans actually love and frequently request, and a song he'll HAVE to play again anytime he does a "Neverender" concert for _From Fear Through The Eyes Of Madness_.

They released a graphic novel/illustrations with Vol. 1 and out of the book their were little paragraphs explaining certain things, not in full clean detail, but it explained a handful of things that aren't clearly relevant to certain lyrics. You are correct for the most part, the writing writer had already lost his wife and wanted Kilganon to do the same in his dimensional life.

Therefore he hopes to push things upon Claudio Kilgannon, such as killing Ambellina who he quickly replaces the empty slot of Newo Ikkin

I read the comments and just want to clear things up: Claudio went away for a business trip (a Comic-Con in the story) and comes home to see his girlfriend in bed with another man. After he hallucinates the ten speed bicycle which tries to convince him to kill off her representative character in his story, Claudio reflects over the anger he feels towards his girlfriend. However, towards the end of the song, Claudio shows a sign of acceptance towards his girlfriend's infidelity (casting quarters)

@CatsVSHumanity I read somewhere that everyone (music reviewers) said the same thing. The deal is though the management at the time really wanted welcome home as a single and the guys of coheed really wanted the suffering as the first single but they had to cave.

The lyrics do have meaning. Claudio writes them based on life experiences and reflects them in the story. For instance.. Newo Ikkin is based on an ex-girlfriend, Nikki Owen. He shows it more on NWFT than the previous albums. But they are based on actual events in Claudio's life.. The band.. all that good stuff.

Yes it does as it has part to do with his former girlfriend Nikki Owen who's name is mentioned backwards hence the Newo and Ikkin references on this and other albums. Combine this with the comic story and you've got a dynamic synergy of fact and fantasy with some great music .

Don't quote me on this but i believe it's showing the Writer giving up on Erica Court which causes Claudio to begin giving up on Newo. As he thinks about Erica, Claudio spies on her(as he does many times in the past). They both lose touch with their relationships.

Sometimes the lyrics are familiar,but that's what happens in a story right? You have things like flashbacks and foreshadowing. I think it's their best album yet ;) the guitar work is pretty awesome and complex at times
