Coheed And Cambria - Carol Ann Lyrics

These are the words for my Carol Ann
The girl I broke in half.
Oh I'm afraid there's nothing left
No pieces to put back in place.
I was a monster, the things that I did
I regret, I dismiss.

Oh it's a shame about Carol Ann
And all she could have been.
She soared with such grace
As her body sailed through the windshield
From the passenger seat
I was a monster, through neglect I replaced
Her love for these lonely days

Oh she'll be forgotten
Oh she'll be forgotten

Young hearts belong
To a love that everybody wants.
But we can't have it all
So we take what little we can

Oh mother did you see him coming
Did you see him?
Mother did you see him sneaking
Through the back door?
Still in the time we wish we spent but lost it all
Oh oh
Oh oh
the time we wish we spent but lost it all
Oh oh
Oh oh
the time we wish we spent but lost it all
mother did you see him coming
Did you see him?
Mother did you see him sneaking
Through the back door?
This time we'll reinforce the wall

Don't turn the page love
It's words don't hold your fate
The suit will become one
And from their world you will escape

Through the walls of your heart
I will tear you apart
Through the walls of your heart
I will tear you apart
Through the walls

Coheed And Cambria Carol Ann Comments
  1. M.... ....

    Oh, we'll all be forgotten.

  2. F.... ....

This is coheeds worst song lol. The outro is pretty good though

    F.... ....

This is probably one of the best songs they've released lol

  3. K.... v....

sometimes, Coheed & Cambria speak directly to your soul, sometimes about past experience. Damn..

  4. D.... A....

This is amazing. It’s like an acoustic progressive rock song. That ending is just... wow.

    D.... A....

    Except its not acoustic lol

  5. J.... S....

play this after number city before gravity's union feel the chills

  6. G.... A....

This should have been a full song on the album....I mean as it is I'd place it among their best. That ending...

    G.... A....

    +Good Apollo
Agreed. If you ask me, I don’t know if it could top “Gravity’s Union” or “Key Entity Extraction V: Sentry the Defiant”, but it’d be way up there. Has so much potential.

Probably due to changes in the story? I don’t recall there being anyone named Carol Ann in the story for _The Afterman_...

    G.... A....

    @*****
From the story for _The Afterman_:

_Communication is incredibly difficult for me sometimes. I get frustrated often, and then I can’t communicate the reasons behind that frustration. It’s a vicious cycle. That’s why writing music is so important to me. It’s one of the only ways I feel like I can honestly communicate. When I was working on this song, I was away from home, thinking about how much I wish I was there. That compounded with the emotional roller coaster we’d been on with the tour cycle. “Iron Fist” is really an apology to my lady for letting my frustration get the best of me at times._

I suppose that’s why Claudio wouldn’t have wanted it scrapped. “Carol Ann” simply might’ve been less important to him, but then again, one could argue that he could’ve added that into the album as well without scrapping any of the other songs, and somehow try to make it fit in with the story. Perhaps Claudio wanted the album to be 9 tracks, just like in _The Afterman: Ascension_?

I don’t know, still sucks that they had to scrap this while songs like the aforementioned “Iron Fist” get to stay.

    G.... A....

    @*****
I guess we should count on the interviews and Reddit AMAs for that.

    G.... A....

Carol Ann is the unborn child.

  7. F.... ....

Still wondering why they never made an album version of this..:/

    F.... ....

    FlapNasty3 they never needed to

  8. D.... ....

I always imagined this after Gravity's Union, Number City is the aftermath, then the flashback into Gravity Union, with Carol Ann being the aftermath of what happens in Gravity's union. Then it moves to Away We Go.

    D.... ....

I find it makes more sense that it's Gravity's Union -> Number City -> Carol Ann. -> Away We Go since Sirius had a hard time focusing and could only interpret anything as numbers. He'd be too dazed and confused to think about the baby's death until he was able to process everything. By the time he can register what happened, he starts mourning Meri and then Carol Ann, later again reminiscing on how he met Meri in the first place (Away We Go). That's the way I'd see it anyways.

    D.... ....

+OMGitsDSypl well number city is the last single. carol ann is too sad to put on the album. A minor.

  9. K.... G....

@mjz321 PFI is awesome. But you should check out "Davenport Cabinet" Travis Stever's side project. YW

    K.... G....

    Thanks man

  10. P.... R....

I love how different Claudio's voice sounds in this song

  11. b.... ....

his voice at 4:31 to 4:40 is amazing

  12. A.... ....

Nooo, nooo!! You're only a REAL fan if you only like some of their work! How dare you enjoy all of their music! For shame!

  13. S.... A....

    throooooooooough the waaaaaaaaaaaaaalls

  14. M.... L....

How am I just finding these songs? I've had their whole discography (or at least I thought) for a long time. Finding these bonus tracks just made my day

  15. c.... s....

Ilisten to this song a few times and you will see how just amazing it is. I want to say it's better and should be on the album than Number City. Gravitys union and this have similar endings. Claudio's voice at 4:05 to the end is just the best part of the song, just saying. Coheed is how old? Older than I am and I appreciate all of their music, not just IKSSE3 and SSTB.... Never been to a concert though.

  16. E.... P....

Do not acknowledge those fools. They are missing out on the perfection that is Co&Ca. They are not our brethren

  17. S.... ....

    Amazing

  18. K.... K....

They do tie together if you know the back story for Sirius Amory...

  19. R.... P....

You are my kind of human being i have a friend who says he is a hipster when it comes to Coheed he doesn't listen to anything they made after good apollo im burning star IV and every time he says that i kick him and play all of the afterman descension and lock the doors.

  20. T.... L....

That's called devolution. I'm glad you agree on this.

  21. O.... ....

Wow, I REALLY under appreciated this song. Listening to it a second or third time, it's really growing on me. I wish there was a more fleshed out version of it! Also, is there some kind of story behind this one?

  22. A.... G....

No, shinedown evolved, just in the completely wrong direction

    A.... G....

    HAHAHAHAHAHA SHINEDOWN? HAHAHAHAHA

  23. o.... ....

I think This is a better song than Number City. It tells the same story of the car accident. I would have loved a full band version of this instead.

  24. B.... ....

    One Among The Fence!

  25. H.... B....

The reason that this is just a bonus track is because it didn't really fit in with the storyline of the album. Although Claudio's work here is amazing, this and Random Reality Shifts served as the part of the story that spoke of Sirius's car accident. However, this telling of the accident was replaced with Number City, Gravity's Union, and Away We Go (a good switch in my opinion.). Thankfully, we still got to hear this. :)

  26. C.... S....

I was a monster for breaking carol Ann in half haha

  27. A.... ....

never a truer word spoke good sir

  28. D.... ....

Damnit, I can't find the Coheed Afterman deluxe box set anywhere, wish I'd pre-ordered it now. :/

  29. H.... B....

I think that Claudio should just release an acoustic album of him playing a bunch of his old songs in his kitchen. He'd call it, "Are You Cumming Yet?"

  30. D.... H....

Also agreed. Claudio has stated that he doesn't know structured music theory, this factor alone says lengths about the sound change throughout the band's career. He's been diversifying his playing over the years through exploring the "sounds" he finds while playing and practicing.

  31. R.... A....

Well, you are a King. So I can't dispute your authority :P

  32. G.... ....

I'm here, eating lime and black pepper potato chips and considering everyone's opinion on what they think of the latest albums in perspective with the older ones (including YOTBR)... does it really matter? This song is amazing... Coheed will always manage to pierce a part of you as you listen to them and in all fairness, they just keep getting better by the album. It seems the later ones aren't as heavy but that doesn't mean they're not worthy. 'Tis only a different approach and it's awesome.

  33. x.... ....

@KingGyarados I agree, I love every single coheed album, including YOTBR . Coheed is diverse and year of the black rainbow was just a showcase of how heavy and technical yet musical they can be.

  34. T.... ....

i agree, i understood the ending how sirius wants to guide meri, but something just seems missing at the end, it needs...something just to hit it home, maybe they're making us wait for it

  35. m.... n....

there is a while lot of shite talkers in here, its got nothing to do with albums, its the songs a being written for certain characters, songs will sound like others because there the same character in the armory wars, every album is different, but the differential betweens the songs written, now thats what you should be looking out for!!

  36. S.... ....

for me at least, it took a while to warm up to the first part. After both were out and I went back through listening to them all from start to finish they feel more complete. just my 2 cents

  37. S.... ....

SSTB and IKSSE3 set the bars high.. afterman decension is probably just as good if not better ... and ive been around the coca block for one hellovalong time

  38. U.... ....

I feel part one of Afterman was dynamite. I felt it was the perfect build up for part two to follow up on. I just think part two was missing something, lacking just that one tiny thing that would have truly pulled both of them together and completed the afterman series. I guess album two, though it did have great moments in number city, defiant and the hard sell, just altogether fell short of my own sizable expectations for it.

  39. n.... ....

absolutely love every album with the exception of YOTBR (not sure what they were doing on that one). Good apollo I is my favorite, something about the progression of the songs and even the sound quality is just perfect in my opinion. Not here to start an argument, but I can't seem to grasp how you could love IKSSE3 but not Good Apollo I...

  40. b.... a....

    i agree,
    try fuseboxx dude..

  41. M.... G....

I feel the reason Coheed's music has become easier to understand (in concept) as the years roll by really has nothing to do with their progression as a band but rather the subject material. NWFT was about as confusing as it gets especially with no companion book or comic. When they started doing prequels/prologues to the core story line is when they really layed it all out there because when you read the preface or prologue of a novel, it's usually to create a setting in a straightforward manner

  42. T.... Q....

This song doesn't need a studio version. It's perfect as it is. So raw.

  43. M.... n....

This song is Claud's way of saying mehh i dont need the rest of my band to saound like jesus! I can do it all by myself!

  44. J.... H....

its also quite possible that this song was a precursor to the final story presented in decension. Cladio probably just changed details of the story, having an unborn child fly through a windsheild dosn't make a whole lot of sense to me. Especially because Coheed dosnt ussually scrap songs that are important to the story. especially now that they release everything on their own label.

  45. T.... ....

She is still his wife, but she loves someone else. Other than that, you are correct. Now stop reminding me, I don't need to cry.

  46. G.... ....

    I agree.

  47. T.... W....

Ah yes. Since I disagree with OneAmongst2113 on the album closers, I guess I'll put all of my Coheed vinyl and CDs away and give my upcoming concert tickets away. I'll start looking for a new band... I like the songs, but as closers, I think they could've done better. Maybe lyrically 2's is a good closer, but musically it just doesn't drive the album home. When I listen to it, I don't get the feeling of Sirius reentering the Keyword to find Meri. I think they could've done better.

  48. n.... ....

Correct me if I am wrong, but Sirus crashes the car with his ex wide in it after she tells him she is pregnant.. The only other person who could have flown through the windshield from the passenger side is the unborn child.. Carol Ann.

  49. R.... M....

Is this Jade Puget from AFI on the guitar? ;)

  50. G.... ....

2s My Favorite 1 is my absolute favorite song from Descension, it's probably one of my favorite overall song, from all albums. Definitely top 10. :)

    1. Backend of Forever
    2. Delirium Trigger
    3. The Light & the Glass
    4. 2s My Favorite 1
    5. Wake Up
    6. The Writing Writer
    7. Feathers
    8. The Final Cut
    9. Junesong Provision
    10. Pearl of the Stars

I seriously love every single Coheed song, they're all great to me. :)

  51. T.... W....

I'd take this over Mothers of Men, Subtraction, or 2's My Favorite 1 any day. This would have been a way better closer to Descension.

  52. T.... W....

How didn't this make it on to either album? It's better than half of the songs that did. This song seems like such a throwback to "SSTB" and "IKSSE:3" in terms of style. So disappointed this isn't full band.

  53. a.... ....

i wanted this to be in the album, but i felt that iron fist and dark side of me already weaved the guilt that sirius felt as he struggled to return to her. But this feels like pent up emotions unwinding itself; creating that perfect image of deconstruction in his effort to remain in one piece back to love. Man, this is why i like CoCa. haha

  54. R.... ....

Wow 4:38. In my 8 years of listening to Coheed now I've never heard Claudio's voice do that.

  55. R.... ....

Name one song that's a "filler" song on Ascension or Descension. I respect you have your own opinion but I think that's a bit much. Every song on both parts is typical Coheed amazingness.

    R.... ....

    mothers of men

  56. I.... ....

This one is lovely too. Catchy. I like this one alot. Is it weird that I sort of miss the violent lyrics from the older albums?

    Damn this is striking.

Also, why on earth would anyone want a "next 2113" ? There was one it was great and you can just go listen to it again.

  57. G.... ....

Thank you for taking the time to comment, we may have different opinions on the album, but I respect yours. Cheers.

  58. h.... ....

i feel this could have been the next 2113. lately i've been feeling his work to be much more straight forward. i liked it when i didn't understand any of it. i feel like both albums don't even ad up to one solid record. it all seems so short. and for mr chris pennie, i apologize on behalf of the fence, your work was amazing on YOTBR. and dear mic, i hope you become better. there will always be a place for you in my heart. and to you zack, welcome aboard alongside josh. you are both wonderful.

  59. G.... ....

This song deserves to be recorded properly, it's awesome.

  60. I.... A....

    omg.... <3
    ..thanks for upload!!!!

  61. G.... B....

why does that is bonus? i think that had to be an oficial music from the album with drums and bass...

  62. b.... ....

    <3333333

  63. a.... ....

    fucking aces!!!
