Cliff Richard - Marianne Lyrics

Marianne, must I live for only yesterday?
Now you've gone away, Marianne

Marianne, all I have is just a memory
Of what you mean to me, Marianne

Here am I without a love to my name
I shall be just following my lonely heart
Endlessly must I be calling your name
Telling you I am waiting
Won't you please come back again?

Marianne, must I wait until eternity?
Please come back to me, Marianne

Here am I without a love to my name
I shall be just following my lonely heart
Endlessly must I be calling your name
Telling you I am waiting
Won't you please come back again?

Marianne, must I wait until eternity?
Please come back to me, Marianne
Please come back to me, Marianne

Beautiful song - completely forgotten but one of his best.

    Beautiful!

I’ve never been much of a fan of Cliff beyond Move It and his time with The Shadows, but fair play to him - this is one of the greatest vocal performances of his career. I much prefer the passion of the original, but this is a lovely rendering too.

I had the privilege of seeing him in an intimate setting at The Gramercy in NYC. He put on a free show for the Morrissey cancelation, and credit where it’s due, he was brilliant and a lovely man too.
