Classics IV - Spooky Lyrics
In the cool of the evenin'
When everything is gettin' kind of groovy
I call you up and ask you if you'd like to
Go with me and see a movie
You've got some plans for the night
And then you stop, and say, all right
Love is kinda crazy with a spooky little girl like you
You always keep me guessin'
I never seem to know what you are thinkin'
And if a fella looks at you
It's for sure your little eye will be a-winkin'
I get confused
And then you smile and hold my hand
Love is kinda crazy with a spooky little girl like you
Spooky, heh, yeah
If you decide someday to stop
This little game that you are playin'
I'm gonna tell you all the things
My heart's been a-dyin' to be sayin'
Just like a ghost
You've been a-hauntin' my dreams
So I'll propose on Halloween
Love is kinda crazy with a spooky little girl like you
Spooky, spooky
Oh, whoa, all right, I said spooky
Oh, yeah, yeah, I said spooky
Yeah, yeah
Oh spooky, spooky
I said spooky

I was born in the summer of 1969.. July 1.. so .. this song vibes with me it always has I was cursed with spooky little girls all my life... but I love this song .
First time I hear this song ❤️ on the radio I was 7 around October before Halloween 1973. Thought it was the coolest song. Still is!!! Every time I hear it 👻☠️🕸️🎃
There will never be another voice like this one...... And, there won't ever be music again like the 60's, R.I.P. Dennis........
This and "Stormy" captured an amazing sound.
It really did...the way the guitar sits in mix...the "barking" chords dominate the mix, soaked in the perfect reverb...and of course the sax.
#3 SPOOKY—CLASSICS IV w/ MIKE (SHARP) SHAPIRO - TENOR SAX
This brings back memories to hanging out at A&W and flirting with the girls that came to the car to take our orders.
The first time I heard this song was the week after Christmas in 1967 at a Put Put Golf Course in Southern California on KHJ Radio that the establishment was playing. One of my all time favorite songs.
Was this sampled by bloodhound gang? What song tho?
I'm glad I Downloaded this song to my devices

1968 Brownsville high school, was madly in love with MAR
We used to crank up our high watt quad amps and pump it out to our tweeters and sub woofers, kick back and get down with a dubee. To these guys and a few others. Classics IV – Stormy, Classics IV – Spooky. Remember Tommy James and the Shondells, Crimson and Clover? There were other Bands too, of the time, with tunes in the same vein.
I never knew this song was sung by a hamster.
It was late in the evening
This masterpiece will live 4ever, It sends me right back to the time period and the girls and guys I grew up with....
All the money in the world cant change certain things
-So then, right after she had the baby they had to remove her utopian tubes.
-No, that's fallopian darlin'.

Grooving to 2020!
On July 11, 2006, Yost fell down a flight of stairs and suffered serious brain trauma. To assist Yost and his wife with their medical bills, a benefit concert was held on March 25, 2007, at Rhino's Live in Cincinnati, Ohio. The benefit was hosted by Yost's close friend Jon "Bowser" Bauman, former vocalist with Sha Na Na. Many musical entertainers and some surprise guests from the 1950s through the 1970s performed some of their biggest chart-topping hits in tribute to Yost. Some of the artists performing that day were Denny Laine (the Moody Blues and Wings), Chuck Negron (previously of Three Dog Night), Ian Mitchell (Bay City Rollers), Pat Upton (Spiral Starecase), "Diamond" Dave Somerville, the Skyliners, Buzz Cason, Carl Dobkins Jr., Mark Volman (the Turtles), and The Robby Campbell Trio.
"Spooky", "Stormy" and "Traces of Love"; songs do not get any better'n that.
How True
From the first note, this song grabs you. It's a damn classic.
Didn't this band morph into the Atlanta Rhythm Section?
👻👗👻
Man, when I was young, I always fell for the spooky little girls....the ones who wouldn't commit, then they'd smile and say..."ok, for tonight, I'm all yours". It'd be like heaven, then, the spooky stuff would start all over again. As painful as that was, it was the best of times! Youth is indeed wasted on the young!
Just don't make this kinda STUFF anymore, why?
Such a sultry little number that Spooky!

Another masterpiece from 1968, hit #1 on the local charts in L.A. early that year.

My first 45 I ever owned. My mom gave it to me which might mean some guy broke her heart (or not), but she gave it to me and I loved playing this in my room in the 80s - it is still cool today.

In High School my best friend and I would cruise the Sprain Parkway (newly constructed), go to Nathan’s and pick up girls. This song always seemed to come on the radio at just the right time, lol.
They later morphed into ( with a few personnel changes) the Atlanta Rhythm Section.
It's " Classics IV", but thank you for posting! Great song!
It was a magical time you being a pre-teen, when there was a constant flow great music pouring out of the radio. Great post.
