Clash, The - Rebel Waltz Lyrics
I slept and I dreamed of a time long ago
I saw an army of rebels, dancing on air
I dreamed as I slept, I could see the campfires,
A song of the battle, that was born in the flames,
and the rebels were waltzing on air.
I danced with a girl to the tune of a waltz
that was written to be danced on the battlefield
I danced to the tune of a voice of a girl
A voice that called "Stand till we fall
we stand till all the boys fall."
As we danced came the news that the war was not won
5 armies were coming, with carrige and gun
Through the heart of the camp
swept the news from the front
We knew the war could not be won.
So we danced with a rifle, to the rhythm of the gun
in a glade through the trees i saw my only one
Then the earth seemed to rise hell hot as the sun
The soldiers were dying, there was tune to the sighing.
The song was an old rebel one.
As the smoke of our hopes rose high from the field
My eyes played tricks through the moon and the trees
I slept as I dreamed I saw the army rise
A voice began to call, stand till you fall
The tune was an old rebel one.

Clash, The Rebel Waltz Comments
Just watching Chris Packham: Forever Punk, and remembered listening to this track as a kid. The Clash were my introduction to genuine music.
RIP Strummer. Latin América loves you!
48 heures pour cet album, Joe Strummer a regretté ses paroles aprés ces différentes écritures. à ta mémoire Mr Strummer.
Stand to you fall
Love this very unique song. It brings me back to 1985, I was constantly listening to this masterpiece of an album. I also had " Combat Rock" , Tattoo YOU,and Thomas Dolby " the Flat Earth" album's... Dam,it was on cassette,DVD was new,and my money went to 🍺,sluts,GTO cars and thinking about Phoebe Cates naked coming out if that pool.
My poor left wrist got quite a workout... I am nearly blind .... LoL
This is my favorite song in the entire universe… The clash were visionaries. There is no way this song could’ve ever existed except for their hindsight and foresight. I love them to eternity and back. The song is so beautiful And moving that it makes me cry every time I listen to it. It sends me into another dimension in the past and I feel the pain and sorrow of war. Let us not forget this lesson.

SANDANISTA!
I genuinely cried, with no audience, when I heard Joe Strummer had died.
I was shopping in a store, heard it on the radio , I cried in front of bananas. True.
Reminds me of Standing Rock. We stood our ground until we fell.

one of my favorite Valentines Days...my friend at the time (long gone now) played this over and over while her mom went out to get chocolate ice cream cake. A fun time, indeed. What a cold and strange day. Ah, to be a child of the 80s. School was off, it was rainy and damp, what a wonderful memory...

Lost my free poster .
for those of us who heard Sandanista when it first came out, we were amazed some idiotic critics actually failed to get it. Immortal album by the only band that matters.
@Lvov Leon Koenig they had a stupid idea to get out of a bad sony contract...but ae still love them.
@ff haha y
@The Notorious Infamous W.A.X. Wisely spoken.
@Lvov Leon Koenig - Really? If you have a solid understanding of the geopolitical turmoil of the time this album goes fast and it's easy to get into.
Hannah Cwik I like the album, man, but it’s also a serious time investment if I’m sitting down to listen to a record, and I’m not necessarily always down for really languid dub tracks. You don’t need to be so aggro.
Jumping on clouds..Love it!!
Such an gorgeous song, given the subject matter. Just beautiful. This album is so unique.
The Clash at there best!
monstah ... they were extraordinary artists
Kind of like the Clash offering up their take on Dr. Zhivago.
It's about the Spanish Civil War, More like The Clash Offering up their take on "For Whom the Bell Tolls!"
Que basura es esto...
De seguro buscabas regeton .
😊😉😝😪😫😭😳😲😰😱😵👅👍👍👏🙌✌✌❤❤💔💓💓💕💖💗💘👮💃
They can't be forgotten !
Shut u0
if every note of this doesn't feel to you like the haunting touch of stars in the full depth of night, seismically waving their orbits through the minds of time, then something is very clearly messed up about you. Or me. Probably me... I mean, it'd be like a statistical thing.
+zer o you sound like a chick!
happy new year
Through the absence of time
Sandinista & The Clash transcends the boundaries within punk or pop music
Clash. Pas de probleme!
