Clark, Petula - A Sign Of The Times Lyrics

It's a sign of the times
That your love for me is getting so much stronger
It's a sign of the times
And I know that I won't have to wait much longer

You've changed a lot somehow
From the one I used to know
For when you hold me now
I feel like you never want to let me go

It's a sign of the times
That you call me up whenever you feel lonely
It's a sign of the times
That you tell your friends that I'm your one and only

I'll never understand
The way you treated me
But when I hold your hand
I know you couldn't be the way you used to be

Maybe my lucky star
At last decided to shine
Maybe somebody knows
How long I've waited to make you mine

Mm mm mm

I'll never understand
The way you treated me
But when I hold your hand
I know you couldn't be the way you used to be

Maybe my lucky star
At last decided to shine
Maybe somebody knows
How long I've waited to make you mine

It's a sign of the times
That you kiss me now as if you really mean it
It's a sign of the times
And a year ago I never could have seen it

Don't ever change your mind
And take your love away
Just leave the past behind
And, baby, only think of how it is today

It's a sign of the times
It's a sign of the times
It's a sign of the times
It's a sign of the times
It's a sign of the times

I didn't realize at the time in the '60's, (had absolutely No Clue), what a Massive Star she was in England. She wrote some of her own hit songs, was an acclaimed actress in her home country, had been since she was a little girl... I was in my early teens when she was turning out hits in the '60's and so I thought of her as just another British pop star. I didn't find out until later just what a Huge star she really was. She's 87 now and apparently still actively singing.

  30. J.... M....

Nice song of the middle sixties. I miss those times when singers were singing naturally without the help of gimmicks and meaningful songs like this one. Besides one could easily tell what they were saying in their songs. Petula Clark was one of those singers I liked to hear very much in those times and I still like to hear her today.

  31. L.... C....

I remember her because of the beautiful music. still listening after 50 yrs. still listening 2019 memories of my teenage days in L.A. Feb 2020

Kind of weird here...so here goes...I'm French Canadian. And native American. So, having said that, I do love the English

Loved Pet Clark. Still do. I've been to England a dozen times. I have literally used that red phone booth in sight of the Big Ben Tower (No, the Tower is NOT Big Ben. Big Ben is the huge bell inside the tower. You pick up useless trivia when you travel a lot.) I love Pet Clark. That's my main point.

  97. P.... T....

Funny...I just heard, not two minutes ago, this very song over the air waves. I've always loved older songs... they were so much better by true artists. All my ITunes songs are from the older era, Gordon Lightfoot, BJ Thomas, America, The Cowsills. If you ask a millenial or even anyone from perhaps the 90's, chances are they have never even listened or heard these great songs. It was 1987 and I was 15 when I heard my first Petula Clark song. Lake Tahoe, skiing in Incline Village and the song they were playing over the speakers was Downtown. Anyway, I heard this song and had to confirm who sang it... and here it is... Great memory!
