Circa Survive - We're All Thieves Lyrics
Lost in a haunting thought, spinning me around once more
I wake just to feel the way as the daylights comes around
I turn with my eyes are on the backdoor
Your face is light and cocaine white
Smoke's filled the air and I'm struggling to breathe
Let them be calm, so I finally can sleep
Everything you intended to say
Don't go back on your words
You always said you'd tell me first
Verse after endless verse, I can't escape the echoed words
I long to find a cure for the feeling I find in these chords
I smile as it burns
Your face is light and cocaine white
One message beating through
I've been erased
I've been erased from the picture
Excuse, oh no, anything goes
Excuses, you know it doesn't work
Excuse, oh no, anything goes
Excuses don't work
Excuse me, this will calls out desperate end
Excuse me, this will calls out desperate:
Smoke's filled the air and I'm struggling to breathe
Let them be calm, so I finally can sleep
Everything you intended to say
Don't go back on your words
You always said you'd tell me first
Smoke's filled the air and I'm struggling to breathe
Let them be calm, so I finally can sleep

Excellent album....top 10 for sure!
You always said you'd tell me first <33
I thought this was a woman when I first heard him sing
I'm pretty sure this songs about cheating. At least that's what I get from it. Love this song though. One of my favorites of all time.
It's also about doing drugs and the voices in his head
And the feeling of being high from the music
At least 10 years after and I'm still here. That is rare 💚
best album ever made
This is one of my boyfriend's favorite bands, and I'm listening to it because since he's gone to jail, this is the only way I can feel close to him.. by listening to his favorite music.. literally bawling my eyes out on the bus right now ha

Anthony Green is the only person who can make my self hatred and pain feel beautiful.
Brandi Black you on ps3 or ps4?

WHO ELSE WOULD BLAST THIS EVERY MORNING BEFORE SCHOOL?? HAS TO BE ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITE BANDS!
lines after endless lines ...... am I right
man, back in middle school and 9th grade, this was all I had, I wasn't even a music head like I am now but everything about this would just hit me. I will say though this actually makes me inquire on how some of the lyrics actually seem backward and contradictory, as a kid I would question the contradictions and then just say fuck it...but now I am interested on this style of writing in depth
this song is majestic!! 0_0
i smiled as it burned
"I've been erased...I've been erased from the picture...Excuse...Oh, no anything goes. Excuses, you know, it doesn't work. Excuse...Oh no anything goes. Excuses, don't work, they don't work. Throwback!! I covered this song on my guitar years ago. I still have the video on my page. Check it out and let me know what you know!
i dont get why people think AG sounds like a girl. a high voice does not mean a girl. AG has a masculine feel to him, hes a man.
No dude. He sounds like Lacey Mosley if she didn't have that weird flare on her words.
nick tiegs i agree
been listening to this song since juturna came out and it never gets old. thats something special.
carl jaysen can you still vouch for that 2 years later?
I can. I heard this song 7 years ago and it is still just as good as the first time.
zorbitalz i love hearing that, its incredible the effect circa has on people.
Never gets old! Circa Survive helped to
put down the building blocks to everything now tolerable in it's genre. They are still the best
"in it's genre" ..what would this genre even be called?
fuckin love this song 19 thumbs up
Circa, thanks for creating this song, I will listen to it for eternity
this is still my favorite circa song... maybe favorite song ever.
Damn all of you smokers,
Smoke's filling the air and Anthony is struggling to breath.
Switch to a fricking E-cig or something. Pricks.
these dumb ass nigga, you can obviously tell that its a dude, because if its a girl she has balls or something!
Very surprised to find out it's not a woman singing.
I had a picture in my head of what I imagined the vocalist to look like, which has now been blown out of the water.
James 3 yr old thread but im replying, im 21 been listening since i was 12 yrs old never bothered to look up what they look like. i was blown away when i found out it was a dude
Why would you even buy canned food...
i agree with you, although sometimes its canned goods or juturna....
i need circa to survive
Why you would need to bring them into here is beyond me...
fuck the 10 people that disliked this song, fuck them
XD good comeback
*butt hurt
10 people are Directioners.... or Beliebers.
each and everyone of you listen to my songs(:
Yeah, that's why you should pay them for the music they made, you fucking jew.
BEST FUCKING SONG EVER
Dide you just like, NOT look at the title? Or did you forget to connect it?
haha butthurt XD
shut up.
I love how on a song called "we're all thieves" everyone is talking about buying their music.
just so you know they make somewhere between a couple cents and two bucks a week from spotify. They're way better off if you buy the album.
it all enhances what you think and feel, if you panic, its going to make you panic, if you relax and enjoy yourself, your going to relax and enjoy yourself.
In terms of art, this album was a masterpiece. Brilliant.
Every thing these guys created so far, are more then just albums, but works of art
ive been erased ..from the picture
Check out our channel if you dig Circa. It'll only take a second and you won't regret it, promise!
going to see them in Austin soon !!!! cant wait :)
i did the same thing but with a dog, and im a wall.
Most of the money from album sales goes to the producing company. =) Want to support them? go to their shows and buy tons of merch!
Just get Realplayer and download this for free and convert to mp3, Its that easy. Cheers.
I must admit getting high and having sex to Circa and Starfucker is my favorite hobby. it's easy to live off of a recreational plant, a few CD's, and a few hot friends. It's pretty amazing to realize that everyone goes through the same things just as different times. :)
Fuck im baked af and listening to this.. Anthony greens voice is beautiful (':
So to all Circa fans here, I apologize, both for my prior ignorance in denying this amazing group my support, and for this whole argument plastered all over the comments section. You are all probably thinking that this is my lame attempt to save face, and you're right. I don't want any hard feelings coming out of this. I'm sorry.
I just live with this perception that if it's online, then it's yours, and it's very tempting to take the easy route when such things are available. I and many others forget that the practice is illegal in the first place. I'll be honest though, thanks to you, I will make the effort to go to a local music store and give my favored bands the support they deserve from me. I don't like having people look at me like I'm a thief, and even worse, I don't want to look at me like I'm a thief. (cont'd)
Okay, in all honesty, I am tired of arguing. I am not saying you are wrong, really, I was only trying to justify something that in the end is not so justifiable, for my own defense. You seem like a very nice person with a lot of conviction, which I do admire in people, and it makes me sad that you are getting such a bad impression of me because I download songs off the internet. (cont'd)
Pretty soon the only bands that you will be able to see on tour are the ones who are rich enough to finance their own careers. You obviously care about music. Please, make the decision to prioritise your support for the bands you love. It's too easy to just download all the music that you can, but it doesn't make you a true music fan. There are plenty of great independent radio shows and podcasts that you can listen to for new music - and you'll discover some awesome new bands along the way...
The music industry is being killed by illegal downloading. Most record labels are no longer able to afford to take on new bands, promote them, support them in making ambitious albums or help them go on tour to build up their fanbase. Stealing music devalues the effort musicians put in to their work, and cheapens the appreciation that we have for them. How must Circa Survive feel getting 180,000 hits on a YouTube link when the top rated comment is about downloading their album for free?
I brought Apple & Sony into it, because they (and major companies like them) control the means whereby people can access their entertainment. A laptop, iPod, internet connection etc. are essentials for modern living. But the cost of this technology means that we all have less money available for the artists who actually make our entertainment, we're just paying through the nose for the infrastructure.
The t-shirt argument is a fairly lame one to be honest. It's like a billionaire who dodges his taxes but then gives a fraction of that money to charity so that he feels less guilty. Maybe you do have a Circa Survive shirt, but I doubt very much you have a t-shirt of every band you've downloaded music by. Don't you think that talented musicians deserve to at least be able to make a living doing what they do best? Most musicians I know make fuck all from music and have a day job to pay the bills.
When I was at high school I had a paper round, and I worked weekends at Burger King for money to buy music. When I was at college I got money from my parents for rent and food, but I worked every holiday in a hospital pushing old people around in wheelchairs so I could afford to go to gigs and festivals. I have a pretty well paid job now, but I still buy a couple of CDs every week. There were plenty of times in the past when I went without eating in order to get a new record I wanted.
Firstly, I wasn't assuming that you have the means to buy things for yourself. I was questioning your assumption that you have a right to take the music that your favourite artists have put huge amounts of time, effort and talent into without paying for it. There are part time jobs. Most kids don't have money for everything they want, but most kids stop short of shoplifting or mugging to get it.
Clearly lots of people are going to like your post. It expresses really well the joy of discovering a great album by a band you've never heard before. However, it also validates the idea that an album is something that can (or should) be possessed without any effort on the listener's part, which is where I have a problem with it. You seem like an intelligent guy. But there are a couple of fundamental flaws in your arguments:
And judging by the number of people that liked my initial comment, I am not the only person you should be attacking here.
So here's the heart of the matter. Like all humanity, I am a person that seeks the greatest benefit for the least cost. The entire economy operates through the selfishness of individuals, and I do not deny that I too am selfish in this respect. I would find it hard to believe that you too aren't similar. When I do have more money for myself, naturally the cost I perceive for luxuries such as CDs will diminish, and I will be able to support Circa Survive more along with the rest of my favorites.
However, if I freely purchased every single song from every single artist I think puts all their time and talent into an album, I wouldn't have much for anything else, if at all. It is much simpler to obtain the music for free for a solitary bike ride, and the money that didn't go into the disc can go into a shirt that spreads their name and genius, or even into a concert where I can have an experience to share with anyone who will listen.
Three, I call bullshit on "I'm not having a go at you specifically." You are clearly attacking me, and while I would never disagree with many of the statements you are making, I am still personally offended that you think I don't understand anything about worth. I am a musician, a writer, an actor, and a high-performing student; I understand exactly what it is to devote hours to a project and working at your 300% for something you believe in. (cont'd on next comment)
Two, you are again making your argument on the assumption that I have the means to purchase things for myself. My father purchased the computer and pays the bills for the internet connection, which are both essential tools in this modern age. The iPod was a Christmas present. And I don't know why you went and dragged Apple and Sony into the argument, seeing as by ripping music online I am not handing any money over to those corporations either.
My reply button isn't working, so I'll just post a regular comment as a response. First thing I want to clear up is that the word "worth" as I used it in my statement simply meant a price tag value. For whatever reason, a shirt seems to cost more money than a disc, at least where I find them, and I was stating that purchasing promotional merchandise probably benefits the band more than buying a disc for my personal entertainment.
Apple, Sony, and other major corporations are laughing all the way to the bank, and independent artists are the only ones who are losing out in this equation. I'm not having a go at you specifically, just at this shitty situation. Our generation is the first where instead of youth rebellion, instead of sticking it to the man, we are giving him all our money, and expect amazing artists like Circa Survive to entertain us for free. That's fucked up.
A T-shirt contains no creative input other than the image that's on it (usually by an artist rather than the band themselves) and is made in a few hours by a sweatshop in Vietnam or wherever. But you value it, because you can't steal it from a shop so easily and there's a risk you will get caught. Obviously you need to eat as much as Anthony Green, but in order to steal his music you need a PC, internet connection, IPod. You paid for those things, right?
I suppose I should be grateful that you're doing something to support Circa Survive. You have a weird conception of 'worth' though. A CD album contains the results of thousands of hours of songwriting, rehearsals, recording, mixing and mastering sessions, all of which directly cost an independent artist or their record label time, money and effort. But you don't value it because you can rip the CD off the internet for free and you don't think you're going to get caught...
this is my crack!!!!!
Will do, my friend. =)
Their music isn't the only thing they sell. A Circa Survive shirt that I can't rip off the internet is probably worth more than the disc itself, and serves both the purposes of supporting the band and promoting the band. I made that comment half a year ago -- I get my first paycheck Monday. I'll buy Circa Survive merchandise to support the band and appease you, because apparently I always have cash to toss around in things that don't drastically affect my quality of living. I have to eat too.
It didn't occur to you to actually BUY the album then... Way to go ripping off your favourite artists. Do you think he maybe might need to eat once in a while in between making amazing music for free for you guys?
were all thieves.
That chorus just hits me <3
This is by far my all time favorite circa song.
this song is so damn amazing! the chorus just totally chills my skin. anthony writes the best songs ever <3
