Cheap Trick - The Summer Looks Good On You Lyrics

Caught my ear as soon as I heard it on the radio; I couldn't wait to find out who it was. Oddly, it sounds more reminiscent of Steven Wilson than Cheap Trick. Amazing, regardless.

I saw Cheap Trick last night in Las Vegas; free outdoor show under the video canopy on Fremont Street. Hard to believe I have never seen them live...so I braved the crowds & the traffic & lack of parking. Fremont is an incredible place to see bands; pedestrian mall where you're never more than across the street from the stage.


It irritates me to hear non-musician friends say "are they still around?" as if it's a Lawrence Welk show. These guys are absolutely amazing. After seeing them on Austin City Limits, Robin on Daryl's Place and YouTube, I knew they were potent. Vital. Powerful. It's shameful to say they "still got it" when they are so effing incredible. With only a loose vibrato to give away his age, Zander displays incredible power and several distinctive vocal variations that rival Paul McCartney. Check out the Sgt Pepper performances on YT. And Rick Nielsen is one of the top rhythm guitars in rock and so fun to listen to. Look up Jack Douglas' youtube interview where he discusses how he cobbled together the Budakon tapes for release. He plays Rick's isolated tracks... such a goof, an eff up. I mean that as the highest compliment. He's loose and having a great time. I heard a lot of that last night. You can't get away with that in what is essentially a trio format, but Tom Peterson's bass sound is so thick and the drumming so solid.

So you are a die-hard Cheap Trick fan - take "Cheap Trick '97 ( The Black Album) for example - great album ? Good one ? Okay - but spotty ? Here's my take - yeah, it's not a great "concept" LP, where every song leads to new insights - but, if you take it as a whole, it's swell ! What I mean to say is - NO OTHER BAND IN ROCK-N-ROLL HISTORY IS MORE DESERVING OF A "RE-ASSESSMENT" IN THE DIGITAL AGE THAT THE MIGHTY CHEAP TRICK ! Why ? Consider - they've got great "hits" compilations, "deep tracks", "crunch-rockers", ballads, "pop-bop" soundtrack hits, and simple mindless fun tunes - the good stuff is literally mountain high ! Now - what I mean to say is - you can build your Cheap Trick "personalized tracklist" into a monster like no other band - regardless of how "insta-classic" ROCKFORD, HEAVEN TONIGHT, DREAM POLICE or the Debut LP are - drop by my channel and see !

Saw them at Target Field in Minneapolis on July 27. Still fantastic after all these years. They were my favorite of the three bands (Cheap Trick, Def Leppard, Journey). The only bad thing was that the concert start time changed to accommodate them so the venue was only about half full. Those that were not there missed out.

You know, I’be been a fan since 6th grade. These guys have a load of life experience they can write about. They are all pushing 70, and doing a song about the joy of the coming summer seems a little off to me. Leave this stuff up to Taylor Swift etc...

Cheap Trick is my all-time favorite band. I became a fan in the fall of 1979 with the purchase of the "Dream Police" album. Because of songs like THIS, I'm glad every day of my life that I chose Cheap Trick as my band.

It is better than Bun E. More energy.

BeertjeNiels ~ Bun hit the drums harder, was faster, had better fills and more nuances than this drumming. This doesn't have more energy. This is more generic.

It is what it is. Bun can never be replicated but at least they’re putting out some solid material. I still miss Bum in the band and wish they could work it out.

Master of Muppets I love Up The Creek just because the song and the music video are so cheesy. Cheap Trick is one of my favorite bands of all time. I swear Bun. E Carlos was SO MUCH BETTER than Daxx.

Erik Sorrells I love all their eras. 70s the most but the 80s has a very new wave style I dig too. There a band that has managed to grow thru every decade without allienating their fans.

Great song, guys! Only band that I know, that can keep on pumping out new high quality music, year after year. While other long term bands slowly fizzle out, Cheap Trick keeps getting better and better. Look forward to hearing more new music. It's been way too long, since I've hung out with you guys. Hopefully, that will change, in the near future. Last, but not least, long live Dave Wilmer. He will be missed.
