Cheap Trick - Taxman, Mr. Thief Lyrics
You work hard, you make money
There ain't no on in the world who can stop you
You work hard, you went hungry
Now the taxman is out to get you
You worked hard
Break your back sweat a lot
Well, it's just not fair
He hates you, he loves money
And he'll steal your s**t and think that it's funny
Like the beatles he ain't human
Now the taxman is out to get you
You worked hard
And slaved and slaved for years
You played
And you played and played for years
He's looking for run-in, yeah
Taxman, mr. heath (he's a thief)
He's looking for run-in, yeah
You work hard, you make money
There ain't no on in the world who can stop you
You work hard, you went hungry
Now the taxman is out to get you
You worked hard
And slaved and slaved for years
Break your back sweat a lot
Well, it's just not fair
Taxman, mr. heath (he's a thief)
He's looking for run-in, yeah
Taxman, mr. heath (he's a thief)
He's looking for run-in, yeah

Cheap Trick Taxman, Mr. Thief Comments
Como me encanta toda esta rola lo máximo me vuelve loca de emoción. Es mucho motivo para disfrutar
It's a wonder the infamous Fascist IRS didn't get to their Stash😄😄😄🤣🤣🤣🤣
I've always believed that this is the ultimate tax song, better than the Beatles. Cheap Trick's first album is possibly the best first album by any major Rock 'n Roll group ever, there isn't one bit of filler on this album and they rock the house like thieves
The band was certainly at their best with Bun E.Carlos behind the kit and this song proves it.
This first l.p. influenced so many musicians
Definitely one of, if not their all time best song. Not only for the composition, but the lyrics too.
Email for guitar tabs to this song at [email protected]
It's Mr HEATH!!
Who's Mr. Heath?
@Charles Vanvoris A british minister, this entire song is a reference to Taxman by the Beatles, and in that song they reference mr. Wilson and mr. Heath, two running ministers at the time
I knew this band recently although those guys are quite old ... but I just LOVE them
Hmm. 18 taxmen dislike this song. Go figure....
your welcome soundgarden
great guys

Fuck ya CT sucks as far as taxes fuck this state I'm a Texan in fuckin Yank ville suck my ball sack
The guitar sounds so Badmotorfinger Soundgarden! Wow! They were a big influence for grunge
indeed! big fan of both bands, herd chris cornell in a interview saying he liked cheap trick, the bridge on this made me say, man Soundgarden really borrowed from this sound
Saw them perform this song tonight in Plymouth, MN, wasn't familiar with it. Good tune.
If they still perform this, I'm damn proud of them!
He wouldn't be complaining if his income qualified as capital gains.

BOOOOOYAAAAAAAAAH!
"Like the Beatles, even Dylan"
pretty sure the lyrics should be
"Like the Beatles, he aint human"
Francis Blanc is correct.
This to me is a libertarian song aimed at the idea that taxation is theft.
Sure, why not. See nothing wrong with that.
You're right! Class song aimed at the politicians and other programmed pick-pockets. We aren't classless, we aren't free. We don't live in a capitalist utopia or a marxist mutualism. Both are fallacies. Both dressed up grins in uniforms promising to provide opportunity. We can't have a capitalist utopia, but capitalism can at least provide us with a means to push out and against institutionalized highwaymen, though capitalism itself is nearly, only nearly, as rife with bushwhackers as is bolshevism. They're looking for money. At least we can pretend to pick which pockets are picked and which thieves pick them. You'd do better stay away from them. They'll rip your lungs out.
wow. Haven't heard this song in many many years. Too bad it has to turn into the usual political battle today with the comments below. This song can go many different ways. With today's world? Well taxes can benefit so much more if there wasn't so many people who think they can live off of the people who work hard and pay their taxes, and feel they don't need to work, or shouldn't have to. Hope we all like parks, nicely paved roads, unemployment benefits, good schools, and so on, but again, too much stealing from hard paid taxes.
Best trick of all.
Me and my dad are going to a concert on july 19th
Im a Cheap Tricker For Life!! <333
😘
Obvious troll is obvious.
Taxman still a thief.
the Beatles and Dylan name checked also. this song is a hybrid of both these guys if u listen close. Mr Heath is namchecked he was in 'Taxman' by the Beats.
why certainly among many others.
Not a huge Cheap Trick fan however when i first heard this song i knew i had finally found a favorite Cheap Trick song. I wonder if this is Cheap Tricks ode to The Beatles
Considering they name drop them in the song, I'd say it's quite likely. =D
this song kicks ass awesome baby
thank god music expresses what words cannot.....lol....or we'd be fucked
I agree the republicans have been spending money like drunken sailors as well. Even though I despise the dems and their do-gooder theatrics, the repubs have been just as foolhardy w/ other people's money. (Mine and yours.)
Right, because republicans don't need taxes to fund our 1.5 trillion dollar occupation force. :-p
Damn governments and their taxes.
die, left wing retards
😂😂😂😂😂
Are 9 people taxmen?
I'm an anachist, I dont vote here and I wouldn't vote in America. Dont know why u call me Ron Paul zombie.
And using force to get money from ppl is stealing, you can give it another name when it's the state that does it but that doesn't change the nature of the act.
totally underrated
Like the Beatles, you ain't human...
Stealing is not fair u idiot
Damn rich people not paying their fair share.
"Fair Share".
Yea, the other people's money should be your, just because you wish that and some politicians wrote that in a paper.
damn republicans who want something for nothing. damn republicans who take from those who don't have enough to give to those who already have too much. damn republicans who start wars to make their cronies richer. damn republicans who try to force their religion upon everybody and yet don't practice what they preach. damn republicans who go to the Dominican Republic to have sex with young boys and then get caught with someone else's viagra when they return.
@sayanythingkicksass And damn our children dying overseas to give you the security to post such nonsense,
@sayanythingkicksass Taxes paid for the research that developed computers so that you can come here and post your nonsense.
I saw them open up for KISS and they were just Monster Good. Didn't even wanna see KISS after that. This Album is my favorite because it's aggressive and raunchy, they played alot of these songs. CREME magzn was pushing them and there they were, long hair, short hair and loud. I love them, they were best to see back in 78'. Peterson just used a Gibson T-Bird bass and it was bad-ass.
9 dislikes???
Jealous musicians that never saw success
We didn't defeat Japan and Germany by borrowing from China. It was taxes that bought bullets and bombs. The US is a country because of the taxes paid by the colonists and the French. Taxes paid for the Civil War too. What language would you be speaking if it wasn't for taxes?
@sayanythingkicksass It's what happens when the government is broke.
@franklapore Actually, "Mr. Heath" is taken straight from the lyrics of the Beatles song Taxman. The lyrics of Taxman at one point go, "Don't ask me what I want it for (uh-uh, Mr. Wilson), if you don't want to pay some more (uh-uh, Mr. Heath".
@sayanythingkicksass
Yeah, absolutely. We should eliminate government entirely. I'm sure Dupont, General Motors, and IBM will step up and foot the bill for public schools, infrastructure, research, law enforcement, and public health.
One of my favorite choruses in history - it's all about the bassline there. You ever notice there's a single organ note buried in the mix that runs through the entire song? Really cool.
@MotleySixx101 first album is my fav. the most puck rock record they did.
I'm not fussed about the album, but I love this song.
yeh it is about a taxman, its songs like this that get cheap trick listed as a punk rock band, stop trying to be so fucking mediphorical.
sooooooo, who has spent more on wars? democrats or republicans? who has started more wars...hmmmmm...
When I listen to this album, I just HAVE to listen to it more tan once a crack. WHOO boy I love the flow of those guitars!
damned republicans and their overspending on wars.
My favorite song from their first album.
