Cheap Trick - Borderline Lyrics

Run out of money and runnin' out of luck
Run into problem I never, never thought of
It seems like I didn't run out of my dreams
But we've got each other and tonight we're gonna leave

To the borderline
Leave all our troubles behind
At the borderline
Forget all our troubles tonight

A broken promise is a broken dream
We've all had so many, too many for me
Impossible to have freedom when things aren't free
But we've got each other and tonight we're gonna leave

To the borderline
Leave all our troubles behind
At the borderline
Forget all our troubles and hide

To the borderline
Leave our troubles tonight
At the borderline
Forget all our troubles
Leavin' all our troubles
At the borderline

I wanna go, I wanna go
Oh I'll go anywhere
I wanna go, I wanna go away from here
Is all I really care

Runnin' away from the girl of my dreams
Runnin' away from a life of broken dreams

To the borderline
Leavin' all our troubles behind
At the borderline
Forget all our troubles tonight

To the borderline
Leave all our troubles behind
At the borderline
Forget all our troubles
Leavin' all our troubles
At the borderline

At the borderline

[Repeat to Coda]

2:33 RUNNIN AWAY WITH A GIRL.OF MY DREAMS. IM RUNNIN AWAY FROM A.LIFE OF BROKEN DREAMS..that voice

  14. B.... G....

This song and these albums suited Jon Brandt.

  15. M.... D....

  16. L.... M....

Can anyone tell me who the blonde in the blue dress is at the beginning of the clip? Thank you!

    L.... M....

Good guess for the time but it's not her.

    L.... M....

    your mom?

    L.... M....

She's been my barber for 30 years.............I like to keep my pubes neatly trimmed and presentable.😎👍

    L.... M....

I can tell you her name but it will cost you.

  17. B.... ....

Those DRUMS!  Those incredible Bun E Carlos drums as identifiable as Robin's voice or Ricks guitar.  Miss Bun E in the band.

    B.... ....

BluesLicks101. Can you tell what cymbals hes using? He usually plays Zildjian but these look like Paiste 202

  18. P.... A....

I remember staying up late to video tape this when I was 12 - I just lucked out by catching it in the TV guide - I must have watched it a thousand times.

    A.... A....

I also saw this ... I never heard song again til now ... thanks

    A.... A....

@Timothy Marcou Todd Rundgren wrote this song for them and produced this album for them

  22. D.... B....

Had never seen this before- thanks! Cool Roy Lichtenstein pop art t-shirt Robin's wearing.

  23. M.... G....

I'm thinking that this represents Zander at the very height of his formidable powers.

    M.... G....

+Matthew Gillenberg Agree completely. 83-87 his voice was unstoppable

    M.... G....

I saw them a few time in support of their 1997 release of Cheap Trick. Robin & the band sounded great! He's in his 60's now. Kinda hard to for him to hit his old range.

    M.... G....

saw them 2 nights ago, hes still at the height of his powers vocally...go see them if you get the chance

  24. T.... K....

Now that is some amazing playing/sounding band. That much sound out of so few performers, impressive.

  25. D.... F....

    Love that guitar solo

  26. D.... ....

    Cheap Trick's best song.

    D.... ....

    Yes, really.

    D.... ....

A dozen songs better than this one? You've about lost your flippin' mind.

  27. T.... ....

This is a great song and again shows just how good Robin Zander is.  He could sing the phone book backwards in old church Slavonic and I'd listen.

    T.... ....

TheKyPerson also a lot of people don't realize that Rick sang a lot of the higher pitched chorus

  28. m.... ....

yeah-fellow "Zander"!!  what's up beside the fruit fly in my nose???

  29. N.... T....

excellent performance - excellent tune. underrated album

  30. s.... ....

    possibly?

  31. B.... W....

Try singing some of these songs, in tune with that kind of power, then get back to me

  32. f.... ....

    Thanks for clearing that up!

  33. d.... ....

    Great comment !

  34. d.... ....

They had a touring keyboardist at that time...Phil "Magic" Christian. Its probably him out of camera range. To preserve the the 4 piece image of CT he was kept out of direct view of the camera. Its a rockupational hazard being a side man. He was playing with them recently again up until the Global Warming tour CT did with Aerosmith. They have also used Steve Walsh, Tod Howarth and Jai Winding as touring keyboardists. What a great gig to have !

  35. P.... F....

really? Who would you like to see sing "Gonna Raise Hell"?

  36. f.... ....

Is it just my imagination or is somebody not in the band doing the harmony vocals?

    f.... ....

futsal1958 No, I saw Rick doing them.

  37. s.... ....

I have to ask, who do you think is a great singer? the Bieb? I'm sure you meant to write that he is by far the best singer there is. If not, either listen to Cheap Trick until you understand what great singing is, or keep your mouth shut so people can have some form of respect for you.

  38. t.... ....

This is really good. I lament times when rock music was allowed to be a bit imperfect. I think it's the imperfections that make rock and roll human, and ultimately what we like about it.

  39. J.... U....

    No kidding, huh? haha

  40. J.... U....

Do you have any more irrelevant unsubstantiated opinions to share?

  41. b.... ....

Notice Jon B's distorted bass sound...he served Trick well while Tom was chasing Dagmar and losing his fortune!

  42. F.... S....

He's a great looking guy ,but far from a great singer.

    F.... S....

far better than most these days

    F.... S....

You clearly do not know what you are talking about. What do you call a great singer, Stephen Tyler?

  43. m.... ....

    Cheap Trick Are Gods!

  44. E.... C....

Great song. Great version. Robin playing guitar adds to the "thickness" of the sound.

  45. z.... ....

Robin's voice was so strong back then

  46. k.... ....

Todd Rungren= "anemic production"? Come again??

  47. o.... s....

i love the trick! i got my tickets for the Dream Police show in LA at the Greek in September, i just hope Bun. E. Carlos is there with them! i have seen these guys every year since 1987

  48. T.... M....

Was thrilled & surprised to see Cheap Trick perform this song in St. Paul, MN, May 2011.

  49. A.... R....

This is an amazing vocal from Robin Zander!

  50. C.... O....

One person needs to be sent to the borderline....

  51. M.... G....

    Robin's voice is extraordinary!

  52. M.... G....

Gosh darn, these guys are cool!

  53. e.... ....

    Count Tampa in.
    rOck On!

  54. G.... M....

I wish Rick or someone would remastered "Next Position Please" !! Without a doubt one of my alltime favorites album !!!!!

  55. c.... ....

Who b da queen? At the beginning?

  56. c.... ....

This is one of my top 10 favorite CT songs. It's a pop rock masterpiece. When this album came out it was one that I played over and over. Great road trip song.

  57. a.... ....

Wow!! A truly underappreciated track from Next Position Please. A little too true to Todd Rundgren's anemic production, but adds some more muscle, which was missing from the studio version. Robin Zander yet again shows why he is possibly the best rock and roll singer ever.

    a.... ....

    exactly

  58. S.... W....

    Sarasota loves Cheap Trick!

One of the greatest rock bands of all time, thanks Cheap Trick. Rock on!!
