Charlie Daniels Band, The - Me And The Boys Lyrics
Remember back when we were young
And all the crazy things that we have done
Me and the Boys out skipping school
Back on the hill acting a fool
Yes its so easy to remember when
We never worried about the money we spent
When you ain''t got no money
You don't care where it went
[Chorus:]
Feel the wind running through our hair as we ride
Running so fast not even time could hold us
Young and free we had nothing to hide
And we were doing all the things that nobody told us
Down at the creek riding make believe horses
Acting out westerns that they had seen
Down at the picture show movie screen
One year later feeling 5 years older
Still scared of the girls but we were acting much bolder
And in the evening when the sun went down
Back street, make out, fooling around
[Bridge:]
Cruising around in a '57 dodge
Boys all checking out the noisy ride
Backyard mechanics each and every one
It was greasy work but damn it was fun
[Bridge]

Charlie Daniels Band, The Me And The Boys Comments
me and the boys when we find this song
This song was written by Matt Minglewood of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. Matt opened for Charlie back in the late 1970s and Charlie loved this song so much he recorded it and named this album after it.
Yes that's so true. We opened for Matt Minglewood in 1986 in Alberta, Canada @ Kelly's Bar. I always loved this song and this album. Very cool to know that Matt had written this song. It fits CDB so well. I love Tom Crain on Class of 63 also.
Charlie is one of my favorite artists. A great Musician, A great American, A great Christian, I seen him live in concert last summer 2015 and he makes that fiddle sing just like years ago! God Bless him
Great song
Remember back when we were young
And all the crazy things that we have done
Me and the Boys out skipping school
Back on the hill acting a fool
Yes its so easy to remember when
Everything was so simple then
We never worried about the money we spent
When you ain’t got no money
You don’t care where it went
Feel the wind running through our hair as we ride
Running so fast not even time could hold us
Young and free we had nothing to hi
And we were doing all the things that nobody told us
Summer days when there weren’t any courses
Down at the creek riding make believe horses
Acting out westerns that they had seen
Down at the picture show movie screen
One year later feeling 5 years older
Still scared of the girls but we were acting much bolder
And in the evening when the sun went down
Back street, make out, fooling around
Me and the Boys
Cheers from Athens!!!
no cell phones, no smart phones, very little money yet we fished, hunted, rode our bikes out going everywhere in the country. I really feel blessed growing up then than now
I was doing Country Radio at KHSL when I noticed this song on the album. I played it and it made me think even though I grew up in Lowell, Mass. that's how we were. We didn't have money or special clothes or anything like that. We just went out at enjoyed being young.
Charlie Daniels was the first concert I went to as a teenager and at 54 I still love him!
WOW!! What wonderful childhood memories. I used to listen to this album as a cassette tape when I was a kid. It's like the 1980's all over again.
This is Music!!!!!
