Charley Pride - Was It All Worth Losing You Lyrics

Well I finally got the one I thought I wanted I no longer have to slip around on you
Cause today the postman brought my freedom
But I wonder now was it all worth losing you
Yes I wonder how my leaving will affect you
After all the heartaches we've been through
But something tells me that someday I may be sorry
And I wonder now was it all worth losing you
Will the one that I wanted soon grow tired of me
And with this new found love wait into the distant blue
And will your mem'ry always slip around and haunt me
And make me wonder now was it all worth losing you

Will the one that I wanted...
And make me wonder now was it all worth losing you

Charley Pride was true to his country roots and he was and still is more country than a lot of the folks you'd have thought be more traditional than him.

As far as I have travelled and meet people, I am the only melaninated woman who is crazy about country music. I was always told by my friends that that kind of music is for Non melaninated people. Way back in Jamaica in my little house on a hill, I used to hear my neighbors as well as my older brothers and sisters played Charley Pride. I never knew any other country singers. Ilove this guy. I see his voice audio gold

I've learned so much tonight March 27, 2018 about Audie Murphy. A great American Hero. Did not know he wrote songs. I've enjoyed this one by Charlie Pride. Was All Worth Losing You

    K.... H....

amazing man for sure , not many like him before or since

    K.... H....

There sure isn't!  Listening to an old Charley Pride song is far more rewarding than what passes for 'country music' in 2019.

This gem obviously would have been yet another top hit for Mr.
Charley Pride. Song writers are the most unheralded of all artists. Scarce mention is made of the fact that Terry Eddleman co-wrote this marvelous song with Audie Murphy in 1970.(I can't find any information on Mr. Eddleman on you tube.) This is par for the course when an unfamed individual is
paired with a noted personage in the writing of a well-known song, the prime example being THE CHRISTMAS SONG, which was co-written by MEL TORME and ROBERT WELLS (Levinson), but Wells is rarely mentioned, even though he wrote most of the lyrics and was the inspiration for the song, TORME kicking in with some of the words and the immortal themes. To wrap this up, a year after Audie Murphy co-wrote WAS IT ALL WORTH LOSING YOU,
he perished in a private plane crash near Roanoke, VIRGINIA, in conditions of rain, clouds, fog, and ZERO VISIBILITY!!!
    He was only 46 years
old and was in financial ruin through gambling and bad investments. How many more great songs may he have been involved in composing had he lived on? I recall I was sleeping in my dwelling in 4611 Swiss Ave, apt. B, Dallas, Texas, when I was awakened by my alarm clock radio by news of this tragic event. In conclusion, someone needs to compile a list of all the country singers and song writers that hailed from the LONE STAR STATE; Audie was born in Kingston.
    There are innumerable others; RAY PRICE; JIM REEVES; CLAUDE GRAY; JOHNNY DUNCAN; CINDY WALKER; BOB WILLS;
GENE AUTRY; TONY DOUGLAS; WAYLON JENNINGS; BOB LUMAN, etc.

  50. s.... ....

Audie Murphy had a hand in writing this song, the last one he wrote.

    s.... ....

Audie wrote this song by him self and being who he was he gave credit to Eddlemon also

    s.... ....

Excuse me, Ray Eddlemon wrote the music and his wife Terri, which was me at the time, with Audie, wrote the words.  We were friends up to the time he was killed in the plane crash.

    s.... ....

Terri Prim tell us your opinion of Audie.....not may people walking that interacted with him.....by the way
    Great words.....

    s.... ....

He was a special friend with a heart as big as his body.  His wife Pam once told me that if he had all the money returned that he had lent out to people, he would be a millionaire all over again.  We lived quite a way from them, they were in Toluca Lake close by Universal.  He bought me a Thunderbird, so when my husband Ray was tied up with business, I could bring the children over to swim in the pool.  Pam also was a special lady and we never left without food, or our favorite, avocados from their tree.  He was a wonderful man and I was proud to know him and call him friend.  I could write a book.

    s.... ....

@Terri Prim you should write a book....too few written about Audie the man.....i once read that he was on a tour promoting one of his early movies with a Hollywood promoter....and he had ten buck on him at that night.........when they left a restaurant they had eaten at the promoter asked Audie if he needed any money....he said that he did because he gave his last 10 bucks to the waitress saying she needed it more than he.......tears me up every time......

MAN I LIKES !  I had forgotten this one and of course it was never on a single so i can't put it in my jukebox.  DANG..
    Nice post Jack.
Recorded  20 November 1970  RCA Victor Studio, 800 17th Ave. South, Nashville, TN – Charley Pride (Charley Pride [vcl], Billy Grammer [gt], Billy Sanford [gt], Pete Wade [gt], Gene O‘ Neal [steel], Junior Huskey [bass], Willie Ackerman [drums], Buddy Spicher [fiddle], Tommy Williams [fiddle], Hargus Robbins [piano], William Irwin [organ], Beegi Cruser [vibes] + vocal chorus. Producer: Jack Clements)

    2.... ....

appreciate the listen, i got this off napster before they shut all the sharing down
i had read it was co-written by Audie Murphy

    2.... ....

@J.W. Gauntt Yep, THE Audie Murphy and it was the last one he wrote before he died.
It's a good song and a good arrangement.
My personal opinon on song copyrights and clearances and killing downloads is that if it's READILY available to buy then it must be pulled from free downloads but if it ain't available to buy. Then screw them. I'm sick to death that huge swaths of the music i love is unavailable other than low quality downloads and they even kill that.
    Thus endeth the rant.  Sorry.

    2.... ....

    @2packs4sure
i agree, lots of great songs may never be heard again( mainly album cuts)

    2.... ....

@J.W. Gauntt Well, many are heard but not heard with quality.
This post sounds good but if were (not even remastered) just re released  from the RCA vaults it would kick butt.
I'm still waiting for Webb's post 58' stuff, since 1991, aaaannd,, nothing.
