Charley Pride - There's A Little Bit Of Hank In Me Lyrics

Well Hank I never met you but I sure heard you sing
At a little bitty port down in Mississippi you filled my heart with dreams
I got an old guitar and I learned how to sing as you did the Lovesick Blues
So Hank if you're listenin' there's one just for you
There's a little bit of Hank in me
Cause I caught it in my voice of the radio '53
And I've done your songs in the cotton fields and on coast to coast TV
And every time I sing Kaw-Liga there's a little bit of Hank in me

Well I'll bet I've done Your Cheatin' Heart at least a million times
And Hank you're still the jukebox king from LA to Caroline
No music has no boundary it comes from the heart
And where my music comes from Hank you play the leading part
There's a little bit of Hank in me...
And every time I sing Kaw-Liga there's a little bit of Hank in me

Charlie pride wrote this song if you people did not know at first he did not even reveal he was black people fell in lo e with his voice over the radeo and once people loved him then he came out and told every one he was black only beacause he thought people would not like him beacause he was the first black artist out there

  5. P.... V....

Yes it came out in 1979 I know I was 17 years old and i love charlie pride

  6. C.... ....

I liked this era of making music with all the strings in the back. )Paul Simon's worst enemy in "One Trick Pony. ")

You listen to Charley Pride's early songs you can definitely hear Hank's influence on him.

Better than that awful Nashville pop song, "Burgers and Fries", way better!  Still too many strings in the track, but hey, when your career has been hijacked by the Nashville fake-country record companies, it's difficult to make real country.

Great song! Hank would be very proud :)

  10. A.... ....

I am sure Hank would have loved this tribute

I remember buying that album, thought it was 79 but no matter that was great music. Charley really could sing a Hank song.

    Real Country Music

@Marc Taylor   Get rid of the unnecessary string orchestra, replace it with a banjo and fiddle and the track would have been even better.
