Charles, Ray - Cherry Lyrics

Cherry, Cherry, ain't in a shame
That you can't be sweet as your name
Always flirtin', havin' your fun (having your fun)
Never sayin' if I'm the one (if I'm the one)

But if I am, I'll hang around
Till you grow up and settle down
Oh will you (Cherry) while your heart's on a spree
Cherry, save your loving for me
(Cherry, I'll get you yet)

Cherry (Cherry) I say Cherry
Woah, I'll make a bet
Oh, Cherry, Cherry
I'll get you yet

Oh man the wonderful memories this album brings home to me. I could write a book about those wonderful magical years with RAY and his Soul. Just listen to that voice that cuts though everything and that amazing piano.....! That says it all folks...!!

oh wow...   Ok, I'm now 52 years old.  THIS is the song my mother played before I was just learning to walk. I totally remember her setting me in my red rocking chair in front of a great big wood speaker and falling asleep to a stack of records while she cleaned house...i remember the smell of Lysol wafting through the rooms, though i didn't know what it was at the time...  she told me I would sometimes lean too far to one side or slide down in the chair, so she would take a king size pillowcase & tie me in.  oh wow...mama, i miss you....she lived to be 87...

i was told that i  was ALWAYS saying "Cherry...I'll get you yet!"  I REMEMBER that phrase....this is what it came from at the end of the song...odd that i can remember all that from 5 decades ago, but can't find my damn keys from 2 minutes ago...

    MLT 1924-2012   love always...

+btinsley1 Music can take us back to a time and place like nothing else. Especially when listening to someone like Ray Charles. I really enjoyed reading of your long ago memory!
