Chapin, Harry - Circle Lyrics

All my life's a circle, sunrise and sundown
The moon rolls through the nighttime, till the daybreak comes around
All my life's a circle but I can't tell you why
The season's spinnin' round again the years keep rollin' by

It seems like I've been here before, I can't remember when
But I got this funny feelin' that I'll be back once again
There's no straight lines make up my life and all my roads have bends
There's no clear-cut beginnings and so far no dead-ends

I found you a thousand times I guess you've done the same
But then we lose each other it's just like a children's game
But as I see you here again, a thought runs through my mind
Our love is like a circle, let's go 'round one more time

All my life's a circle, sunrise and sundown
The moon rolls through the nighttime, till the daybreak comes around
All my life's a circle but I can't tell you why
The season's spinnin' round again, the years keep rollin' by

Oh all my life's a circle, sunrise and sundown
The moon rolls throught the nighttime till the daybreak comes around
All my life's a circle but I can't tell you why
The season's spinnin' round again, the years keep rollin' by

Oh all my life's a circle there's sunrise and sundown
The moon rolls throught the nighttime

Love every song on this Album
Harry Chapin was an amazing singer songwriter my brother introduced his music to me . He saw him live in Glasgow but sadly he died soon after . His music will always live. on 🎸🎶🥁🎻🎶🎹d

  19. J.... H....

The Big Chief showed me Harry in the mid-80'. I was in grade school. Chapin's story telling is second to none. Thank You Dad, for showing me Harry a long time ago.

  20. C.... B....

I was scheduled to attend his concert at Eisenhower Park on Long Island the day he died. It was like a punch in the gut. I had seen him several times before at Westbury Music Fair and I felt a kinship toward him, much like all of you.

  21. J.... J....

one of my favorite Harry songs

  22. C.... L....

I love this song for so many reasons! I grew up listening to Harry, Jim Croce, Judy Collins, the Mama's & the Papas, Peter, Paul, & Mary, etc. (my parents were 70's "freaks" [kinda like hippies, but different lol]), and Harry has always had a special place in my heart. Plus, this song always struck me as a perfect Wiccan/Pagan anthem (if you know anything about Wicca, listen to this song, and it kinda jumps out at ya) :)

  23. K.... ....

I have his greatest hits CD, and have almost worn it out. I LOVE him.

  24. B.... C....

My first Harry show was 1978 East Lansing Mi... Still the best show I've ever seen..

  25. e.... s....

" I've got this funny feeling that we will all be together again". Is Harry talking about reincarnation or heaven ?

    S.... ....

  30. K.... ....

One of my all time favorite songs.

  31. R.... R....

As I read all the beautiful comments from everyone tears are welling up in my eyes , I am from Long Island and Harry was not just a national hero he was a local hero to us , I always thought that he was such a kind man with a big heart helping feed the hungry and poor when he passed I actually did cry because I felt like I lost a family member , I still miss him terribly but always have good memories of him just by listening to his music that takes to the places in his stories .

  32. c.... ....

Being born in 1970 I only knew his music as a child. I can't believe how powerful his music is. Circle, dreams go by, W.O.L.D. Just unbelievable. If his sings can't bring emotion out in you I feel very sorry for you.

My dad used to play this album in the late seventies, on the turntable in our living room. He also used to play John Denver, Jim Croce, Gordon Lightfoot, and many more. John, Jim, and Harry are gone, but thankfully their music is still here.

    J.... D....

Love all those guys, listen to them often

Didnt really appreciate Harry in his time.  Maybe because I worked in a Pizza joint that played Cats in the Cradle all the time.. I was young and dumb and full of etc. . Harry was and is a genius .

    D.... N....

yeah, personly i agree with harry the songs are great not just the popular ones!

  64. J.... H....

Absolutely love this song, and this version is amazing.  I am assuming that this is a live version, I have no idea whether or not this was studio produced.  If it was in fact a live version, then this is a true testament to how great of a performer Chapin was.  My favorite artist hands down.

    J.... H....

+Jeremy Hahn Wife and I caught him and the group way back at Cincinnati. OH, Music Hall. It was a super super show. Met Harry at break and the wife scored a kiss from him. It was an unforgettable night I will treasure always. Yes this song was always live at concerts

    J.... H....

He was a wonderful performer! I grew up listening to Harry on the record player in my parents ' living room and later on cassette on road trips! Had the privilege of meeting him after a show once & I remember it even though I was young. A wonderful who made quite an impression. I still love singing along to this day.,

My most sincere condolences.  Life is short enough, but to leave this world at such an early age is sad indeed.  I hope you have many things, such as this song, that will warm your heart and keep your son alive in your memory.  Thoughts and deepest prayers to you and your family.  May he rest in peace.

    C.... C....

    I'm so very sorry.

    C.... C....

    I’m very sorry, friend

  68. J.... B....

We used to go see Harry every summer at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center in upstate New York.  We would also travel anywhere we could to see his performances.  When you saw Harry on stage, it wasn't like you were going to see a concert, it was more like you were enjoying a fun evening of music wih a friend.  Harry's total dedication to the World Hunger Organization has blessed countless thousands (millions?) of people.  You could find him wandering the halls of Congress on a regular basis petitioning for aid for the weary and downtrodden.  Harry was an everyman with a heart and sentiment that will traverse across generations to come.  To say any particular Chapin song is my "favorite" would depend entirely on which one I am listening to at the time.  So much of his music causes one to go "Oooooo.... I love this song!".  We miss you terribly Harry.  Rest in Peace brother.

    J.... B....

I went very year as well to SPAC

First of all, I want to echo all of your sentiments to one of the great artists of our time. I had the privilege of seeing Harry live back in 1977 at Loras College in Dubuque, IA., and what a thrill! Harry Chapin playing at this small college in Iowa... He was such an amazing and gifted talent with so much love to give. And give he did... we miss you Harry!

  71. c.... w....

The 'years keep on rolling by'.....and they have but what a lovely Saturday to rediscover our friend, Harry Chapin....who did his best to leave us as kindler, gentler, and more loving human beings.

  72. C.... ....

My favorite HC song. Better than "Cat's in the Cradle." Better than "Taxi." Better than "I Wanna Learn a Love Song." I'm 19 and Harry is one of my favorite composers. RIP and thank you.

  73. T.... L....

After all these years I still miss Harry and his music. I saw him a couple of times at Massey Hall in Toronto in the 70's. My girlfriend of the day Ann had several songs that were ours that we shared. I miss Harry and my girl Ann. Thank you Harry for your songs and Ann for your love

  74. S.... ....

    Michael makes me cry.

  75. F.... ....

This album was my all time favorite by him. I just love his voice in this better than the studio versions for most of them. He is greatly missed.

  76. A.... ....

I saw Harry Chapin every summer at the Ontario Place forum in Toronto. I was always the highlight of the Summer. My friends thought I was nuts. Saw his last show at the O'Keefe Centre just before he past. I remember he was in the lobby promoting one of his causes. I made a small donation and he thanked me as I passed. I was really sad when I heard what had happened in New York. Glad I got to see him so many times live.

  77. O.... ....

I can't remember the year but I was a salesman in San Diego. I said to myself their is a reward in my future for sales accomplishments. Harry was coming to town. Earlier one morning I was second in line at Ticket Masters. With money in hand I ordered one front row ticket. I was denied and offered a row in, whatever, 300 something. I protested and the police came. Missed the concert and now I miss Harry Chapin. Harry, you gave us a gift of love, and I thank you for it.

  78. M.... L....

    Harry!!!

  79. j.... w....

  80. J.... A....

I was turned on to Harry, when I was 14 years old. Youth is very impresionable. I have never strayed very far from the stories he has told me.

  81. w.... ....

There have been people close to me that hurt me.. and a few that never even knew me that healed me. Are the latter not heroes? He's a hero in my book

  87. D.... ....

One of my all-time favorite songs. If there's music at my funeral one day, I want this song to be part of it.
Also, I used to teach American Sign Language and this one was a favorite. It's beautiful and fun and the whole class could come along with the refrain.
Miss ya, Harry, but your stuff still lives. :)

  88. t.... ....

Harry was the ultimate story teller. His songs were all stories from his and others lives. Yes he is gone but there is a little of him that is in all of us. Harry rest well knowing all the lives you have and continue to touch new ones. May the circle never be broken.

I loved Harry Chapin! I got to shake his hand in November of 1979 after a concert at Huntington High School--I think it was there and then--and I got to tell him my favorite song I liked by him--it was his too-and I even got to take his picture twice--with my Minolta X-G1=and to take Tom Chapin's picture--as well as Harry Chapin's Father to boot! Harry was funny, and the joke he made as we were waiting to get in on a chilly Wed nite was classic,

  97. n.... ....

Not many people were/are a classy storyteller like Mr. Chapin was. The junk that's out there today pales next to musicians like Harry. You've been missed-and will always be.
