+olga opalinska It's not. However, for some reason, the first CW DVD - unlike the others - had a slightly blurred sound quality, which might make the music and playing combination look a bit odd. It doesn't seem odd to me, but I don't know how others feel about it. It's not playback, anyways.

It's playback. She's "pretending" to play to a backing track. I know some people who perform in the show.

@fiddl3r your arse...dats ha playn 4 really go 2 one of da concerts depending where you sit you can hear it quite clear...after every chord you can hear the change in it...I went to it n heared it perfect as she came forwards toward da crowd...was in the 3rd row...

This was the very first one, just named "Celtic Woman." It was supposed to be a one-shot, a PBS beggathon special. It got such a reception that a company was formed to take it on the road. It was followed by "A New Journey", "Songs From the Heart", "Believe" and "Believe" (second year). There were also at least two Christmas concerts and a tour called "Isle of Hope" that was never recorded. There are only 4 ladies now, and only Mairead remains of the original five, but it's still Celtic Woman.

Google "The Session". It will have The Butterfly, which is the first tune in this set. I doubt you'll find the sheet music for both tunes together, but if someone can identify the second tune, I'm sure it will be one The Session site as well.

Actually, Mairead does sing occasionally, although not usually with Celtic Woman. She sang one song on her solo album, but she prefers to let her violin do the "talking".

you can find the slower beginning in a lot of celtic fiddle books, but the faster portion is their own creation and copyright. i think i looked for this song's sheet music a couple years ago and came across a set of scores this group sells of their own songs. i don't remember if this song is one (a lot of good violinists memorize their own pieces and never write it down or even improv deviations from a single melody) but check out their website and see if their scores include this piece :)

I actually do hahaha, it was the song that was playing when I got into a car accident. It now reminds me of when The car flipped over, but I still don't have it in me to dislike this.
